Yeah, I know... I have other things I should be finishing. And the fact
I'm shipping out to basic in three months doesn't leave much time to work
on it... but I had to throw it out there..

Akane sighed as she stared out the window at the falling snow. Ranma had been
at Ukyou's all evening. 'The jerk,' she thought as she sighed again. Their
relationship had been maturing quite well. They were getting along much
better now and last night, they had showed each other their love in ways they
never though possible. Akane didn't think anything bad could ever happen
again. Ranma was hers. That is, until Ranma came back into her room earlier
this morning.
* flashback *
*Knock knock*
Akane looked up from her books. "Yes,"
"It's me Akane. I need to talk to you."
"It's open, Ranma. Come in."
Ranma slowly opened the door and sat on the edge of Akane's bed. He stared
nervously out the window, twirling his fingers together.
"It's... about us."
Akane's heart sank.
"I don't think we should be together... I want to call off the engagement."
Akane tried to get mad but something just wouldn't work. So she cried.
"Aww, come on Akane. I l-love you, it's just that I don't think it's best for
you. Look at all the trouble I bring to your life. And this curse. You need
to be with someone who will let you be you. And not someone who ya get mad at
all the time."
"But... I..." Akane wiped her eyes. "We... we've been getting along."
"I'm sorry, Akane."
Ranma slowly got up and left the room, closing the door softly.
Akane sat unmoving for several minutes before reality set in. When it did, it
hit hard. She got up and punched the picture Ranma had given her a few
Christmas' ago. The glass shattered and the picture fell off the wall. Akane
flung herself down on her bed and cried herself to sleep.
* end flashback *
Akane looked back at the picture laying face up on the floor beside her desk.
A single tear fell from her eye and she quickly turned her head back to the
window.
'That jerk, why'd he have to go to her. Why? Doesn't he know I love him. That
I want to be with him regardless of the chaos he brings. Regardless of his
... his curse?'
"Ranma no baka"
The tears found their way back to Akane as she remembered the moment they
shared together in each others arms last night. They came even harder when
she pictured Ukyou in her place.
That was all Akane could take. She stood up and went to her closet. She
pulled out a single suit case and tossed it on the bed. She lingered for a
moment, staring at her clothes, running a hand down the material. She sighed
and began throwing outfits beside the suitcase. Satisfied with her choices,
she turned to her bed and began packing the suitcase.
"There," she said aloud, to no one in particular.
'Don't run away,' her heart begged her. 'He said he loves you.'
'But he loves her too,' Akane's more sensible, boy-hating mind told her.
'Leaving will just drive him into her arms further.'
"Why should I care what that baka-hentai does??" Akane growled as she snapped
the suitcase shut.
She went to her desk and quickly scrawled a note:
Good-bye Ranma. I will always love you.
Akane
She grabbed her suitcase and flung it out the window to the snow covered
ground below. She carefully climbed out by way of the tree near the window.
She looked up to her window one last time before running out of the gate and
down the road toward the airport.
She made her way through the crowd of people at Tokyo International and
eventually wound up in front of a service desk.
"Can I help you, Miss?"
"Yes, I would like a one-way ticket to America please."
