In most stories, Ranma only fought Shampoo, and had done little other
fighting that day, whereas Shampoo had been in the tournament since that
morning. In this story, both have been fighting in the tournament all
day. Ranma of course is more tired because of her style of midair
combad, leaping about, and (if you think of the first fight with Akane
in the canon version) lots of dodging. Most people when fighting are
far more likely to block than dodge, since blocking uses *much* less
energy. Ranma, if I recall right, does the opposite.
