Once you get past all the choices you can possibly
make, sometimes you don't really have a choice.

Understand this: Sailor Moon has had it
easy in the past, and sometimes things work out on
their own, but you don't become the leader of
the world by making the best decisions, but the
right ones, whether there be a lack of information or
not. The right choice is to protect the Earth from the
Mekani; the best choice would be to let the invaders
hole themselves in and bide time for another solution.
After that you have to live with your actions, and
hopefully your future actions are more wiser.

- The Greeks didn't surrender to the invading Persians
when the Oracle told them to (so the Greeks would
eventually overthrow the invaders), they fought
back (and won to boot). Liken Moon to Greeks, the Mekani
to Persians, and the Oracle to Mizuki.

- Dinobot in Beast Wars finally understood that he had
the right to make his own choices, and yet he was in
a situation where he couldn't make any other choice. Bad
Boy Megatron was killing the human race before they
could evolve and interfere in the future of their wars,
and even though he knew it was going to cost him dearly
(namely, his life) Dinobot went ahead and defended them
anyway. Liken Moon to Dinobot and Mekani to Megatron,
and humanity's in the middle, as usual (although in
this case the cost is the wrath of the spirit folk and
their inevitable extermination).

- Sheridan from Babylon 5 took in a group of renegade
telepaths because he believed they would help his side
win the inevitable Telepath War. It turned out, however,
that by taking them in he indirectly started said war.
In result this becomes the biggest mistake of his career
as President of the Interstellar Alliance, and one that
follows him throughout the rest of his life. Liken
Sheridan to Moon; she made a costly mistake that now
chases her for the rest of her life, because she caused
the devastation she tried to prevent (take your pick
which devastation).

She may be a superhero, but not infalliable,
because she's still a human being (you can debate this).
Hindsight makes it worse, because by then you know what
you did wrong and how it should have been fixed (but
that's what hindsight IS). I make no apology if I
shattered the illusion that she was a perfect ruler.
If even the ruler of the world is too perfect to make
mistakes then there truly is no humanity in Crystal
Tokyo, and the Fenril Knights won already.

Title Summary:

In the age before the Silver Millennium, a mighty empire of darkness
conquered many stars in the heavens.  Their downfall marked the
beginning of the Silver Millennium, but their legacy lives on.  At the
dawn of the new Age of Enlightenment marked by the rise of Crystal
Tokyo, the ancient empire of darkness is about to claim retribution....

Episode Summary:

Neo Queen Serenity makes a desperate attempt to convince the Fenril
Knights to end the war... by telling them the truth.  However, it may be
too late, as their infernal engine is poised to release an unspeakable
menace on the world....

...you know, I really don't buy the backstory. The plot so far is good, the
action scenes impressive, and the characters well-realized and well-placed,
but... well, I can't say anything if you're working from Sailormoon manga
continuity, but I find it hard to believe that a woman who pulled her own
heart out for a _chance_ to save someone and who refused to kill the
embodiment of all evil would make the decisions she does here.
