        Spiel time...
This idea has been bouncing around the back of my head for some time
now, yet I had no real way to do it until recently.
I had read the recent shot at combining Ranma and Guyver
(disremember the title and author, but I do want to see more), and this took
a bit more form. Finally, I read Adam Brown's SRX fic, and this finally took
off.
Those two were the inspirations, and I give them much credit. This
was banged out in a bit of a hurry, tho, and I don't want it to seem like a
rip-off, so any and all help is welcome and appreciated. Enjoy!

One hour from now, another species of life form will disappear off
the face of the planet...
        Forever...
        And the rate is accellerating...

        Megadeth -- Countdown To Extinction

============================================

Alkanphel surveyed the devastation around what was once Mount
Minakami, the flaming ruins of the Iseki lying beneath his feet. The First
One smiled, a sight not for the faint of heart, and his laugh echoed
throught the vast forest that surrounded the artificial mountain that once
served as the seat of power in Kronos, Japan.
        "Lord?"
Alkanphel turned to gaze upon his remaining ten Zoalords, the
traitor Gyro having met an appropriate end. One of them held the dying form
of Masaki Murakami, the prototype for Gyro's Zoalord form, against his
chitinous chest.
        "Your orders?" asked another.
"The time has come," he said to all present. He felt the immense joy
from each Zoalord warm his telepathic receptors, the sensation spreading
through him as well. "We have waited long enough!
"It is time for Kronos to reveal itself, and for mankind to know his
true masters!
        "My children... X-Day has come!"
Their shouts of joy threatened to rend the heavens, daggers of fear
stabbing through the hearts of the five fugitives desperately making their
escape far below...

==============================================

The attacks had come all at once as the agents so carefully placed
by Kronos over the span of three decades began their final assault.
The English Parliament was among the first to fall, as over fifty
percent of its membership were Zoanoids of one form or another. Other
nations crumbled in short order; Germany, Spain, France, Vietnam, and Russia
falling with the remains of the world that mankind once knew.
As each government toppled, the Zoanoids that prowled the streets in
human form showed their true natures to the people. Entire cities were
overrun by hordes of rampaging Zoanoids, the poor unfortunate citizenry
mauled by claws and teeth as X-Day reached its zenith with the noonday sun.

=================================================

They came charging through the mists generated by the myraid geysers
that dotted the otherwise barren landscape of Nekonlon, China - misshapen
mockeries of creation that roared their vengeance over the sounds of battle.
Kirin, Prince of Nekonlon and master of the School of the Seven
Lucky Gods, had tasted defeat but once in his life.
The taste this time was more bitter by far.
The furious wailing of the strange monsters still echoed behind him
as he carried his wife, Lai Chi, to the waiting airship. Her unconscious
form was slumped over his shoulder, the occaisional low moan all the sound
from her lips.
"Hang on, Lai," he muttered as he leapt clear of a small crater that
was once a geyser. "We will survive, and they shall pay."

The attack had come at dawn, hundreds upon hundreds of monsters
overwhelming Nekonlon's border guards. From there, the battle had only gone
downhill.
The other masters of the school had fought bravely; Monmon,
Bishamoten, Ebitan, Muu, Daikoksei and Daihoksei each fighting alongside the
remaining guard force against the coming invaders.
The battle had been fierce, each side suffering heavy casualties as
the fighting escalated. Then the reinforcements came.
Several monsters, their black chitinous bodies lending them the
appearance of upright stag beetles, had dealt his forces the first major
blow. The fleshy spots of their armor had opened to reveal arrays of
gelatinous lenses that hummed with incredible power in tune with the
enormous jewels between their horns seconds before the blasts hit.
Beams of searing ruby light had cut through Kirin's forces as a
scythe culls the chaff from the wheat. Monmon had been caught in the first
volley, her skin catching aflame before her body vaporized.

Kirin violently slammed shut the door on those memories, returning
his focus to the waiting ship. His forces were destroyed to the man, not a
soul left in Nekonlon to put up any resistance to those foul creatures.
He had wanted to fight to the end, to spend his life in defiance of
those horrid mutations, yet the final words of Ebitan had convinced him
otherwise.

"Master... Kirin..." he had gasped, bleeding from a hundred wounds,
"You must... flee...
"As long as you live, so shall our school, and our home."

Kirin leapt down into the dormant geyser, bracing his legs for the
impact with the deck of his airship. He and Lai Chi would leave at
nightfall, but where?

==========================================

        "Fall back to defensive positions!"
Lei Wing Fa shouted the order over the din of combat, the warriors
of Joketsuzoku moving back as ordered. All around her came the screams and
howls of the creatures which had attacked at dawn, explosions ripping
through the spartan huts of the village as every able bodied fighter - man
and woman - took arms against the invaders.
What are these things? Lei thought as she reinforced the protective
barrier around the village council chambers which held those wounded from
combat. She had met her fair share of demons and monsters in her time, but
none of them matched what was trying to cut them to ribbons now.
Huts all around her were burning, black smoke spewing skyward with
the screams of the dying. Never had she seen such carnage...
Several angry red bursts slammed into the shiled generated by her
and the first group of the twelve elders. Lei felt the heat of the unnatural
blasts bake her skin and threaten to collapse the barrier. They could not
keep this up forever, the monsters were pushing her warriors back from every
direction.
We're finished, she thought. We can't hold out here much longer. She
was faced with the possibility of having to retreat, marshalling the
remaining Joketsuzoku and running.
The thought galled her to no end. To think that a Joketsuzoku would run!
Her wizened eyes spotted one of the creatures bearing down on the
barrier. Its skin was dark green, mountains of muscle stretching the scaled
tissue taut. The enormous monster had no real neck, its mouth merely twin
rows of razor sharp teeth. Above its yellow eyes was a lone horn, with lines
of smaller spikes jutting out behind on both sides.
Two of her warriors attacked from each side, catching the behemoth
off guard as one plunged her blade into its chest. The creature howled in
agony and rage as the second bashed its face with a makeshift club.
Lei had never seen anything move quite so fast, its right arm
lashing out and catching one of the fighters in the head with a
boulder-sized fist. She flew backward like a limp doll to land in a heap on
the ground, her chest still. The other soon shared the same fate. It roared
its defiance as it tore the blade from its chest until a blast from behind
silenced it for eternity.
Lei saw another of the elders, Xi Feng, charging up the narrow
street toward the barrier, twenty warriors behind her. Their armor was
dented and rent, blood and sundry other fluids coating their ruined outfits.
"Lei!" she shouted as she neared the barrier.
        "How bad?!"
"They keep on coming!" Xi shouted in reply. "We are being overwhelmed!"
Lei felt her heart sink at the news. It definitely would not be
long, now. There was only one choice and, much as she hated to, she had to
take it.
"Xi Feng! gather the remaining forces! I shall prepare the wounded.
        "We are retreating..."
"NO!" Xi Feng screamed in protest. "We will fight to the last! We..."
"DO IT!" Lei roared. "Sacrificing our people to win this battle is
not a victory!"
        "But..."
"Nor is sacrificing the battle to save our people a defeat!"
Xi Feng glowered at Lei for a brief moment before turning to execute
her orders.
Phoenix Mountain, Lei thought as another volley of blasts rocked the
failing barrier. It is our only chance.

=======================================

"What's goin on here?!" Ranma Saotome shouted as a monster that
resembled a purple humanoid bat dissolved into a puddle of goo on the dojo's
floor.
"I don't know," Akane replied, hefting her bloody katana.
Kasumi and Nabiki were behind them, the latter holding a baseball
bat while Genma and Soun stood aside their youngest children. In the
distance, the sound of the air raid sirens could be heard over the stacatto
raps of gunfire and the occasional booming roar of a cannon.
"It's like all hell just broke loose," Nabiki commented. "Even the
Self Defence Force is fighting!"
"And from the sound of things, they're losing," Genma added.

Since six AM, the residents of the Tendo Dojo had been locked in
battle against the strange monstrosities that seemed to pour over the outer
wall of the dojo. A few had even smashed through it to get at them.
Ranma was exhausted from the constant fighting, his limbs aching
from the exertion as he maintianed his ready stance. He looked around as far
as he could see, hoping that it was finally clear to move.
"We gotta go get the others," he said.
"We need to escape, boy!" Genma shouted, whapping him on the back of
the head.
        "I ain't leavin' without 'em!"
"But, Ranma, we can't stay here! We have to get out now!"
"Fine, then," Ranma spat, glaring at Akane, "I'll go get 'em myself!"

Akane stared hopelessly as Ranma charged though one of the holes
that had been blasted in the wall earlier, a whirlwind of emotions raging
inside her. Ranma may have been a stupid jerk, but she just couldn't let him
go out there all alone!
        "Akane! Come back!"
        "I'm going with Ranma, daddy!"

=========================================

Ukyo Kuonji darted through the narrow alley, terror lending her legs
the power to sprint with the wind. Her enormous spatula was held in each
hand, dried blood on the wide blade from edge to handle.
She had been running for who knew how long, her restaurant destroyed
when one of those things fired a blast at her gas tanks. She and Konatsu had
been lucky to have made it out before the flames consumed her entire home.
They had been running ever since, fighting those monsters whenever
they had to, always headed for the Tendo Dojo. Searching for Ranma.
He's okay, she repeated like a mantra. Ranchan's okay, he's just
gotta be. He wouldn't let these things get him. He won't let them get me,
either.
She forcibly tuned out the sounds of screaming from all around,
focusing on getting to Ranma. Once she had done that, then everything would
be okay. She hoped...
        "Ukyo-sama! Above you!"
Ukyo skidded to a halt at Konatsu's shout, dread knotting her
stomach as she craned her neck skyward. On the lip of the building next to
her stood one of the creatures, a distorted atrocity with twin misshapen
pods on each shoulder.
The pods snapped open, a hateful red glare shining in their black
depths. Ukyo braced herself to leap clear as the monster built a charge that
would blast her to dust.
        The shot was never fired...
Ukyo watched in stunned amazement as a ball of dark, crackling
energy rammed into the unsuspecting monster. It screamed in agony, a sound
that chilled her to the bone, as blood poured out of the gaping hole in its
chest. One arm had been blown clear, the shoulder pod ruined as the other
fired a wild blast into the sky. It fell to earth, landing on a nearby
dumpster with a resounding thud before rolling onto the pavement. Ukyo could
only stare in stunned amazement at the smoldering corpse as it began to
dissolve like the others had.
"What," she began, "the HELL was that?!"
"Ukyo-sama," Konatsu said in a trembling voice, "perhaps you should
turn around."
"Oh my..." It stood before them, a thing straight out of a
nightmare. Black armor coated most of its body, an orange fibrous substance
exposed in places beneath it. Twin backward curving spikes adorned each arm,
a small orb at the waist glowing faintly in the shadows of the alley. The
white expressionless eyes stared out at her from below a silver medallion in
the forehead, a small orb of jade in a niche just above that. A long fin
arced back from its head, twin rows of smaller spikes resting just above two
more medallions where the ears should have been.
"I'm not your enemy," it said in an almost mechanical voice as it
raised its hands in a placating gesture.
        "Wha... what are you?"
"Mizuki. Tetsuro." Two people stepped out from behind the armored
creature. The girl wore stained fatigues and a ripped tanktop, her skin
smudged with dirt and grime. Her face wore a tired expression, yet her eyes
were keen and alert. In her hands was a long rifle, a weapon that looked
completely out of place on her. The man was rather large, his filthy hair
hung limp on his head just above a pair of old glasses. He held what had to
have been the single largest handcannon she had ever seen.
"Take them to the rendevous point," the armored thing said. "I'll
meet you there as soon as I can."
"Now wait just a moment, buster!" Ukyo shouted. "First off, I ain't
goin with those two commando rejects and two, I ain't leaving without Ranma!"
"Nor shall I leave without Ukyo-sama!" Konatsu added hotly.

Agito Makashima wanted to groan in frustration at the two standing
before him. Didn't they realize that they couldn't fight their way out? By
all rights, he should have just left them there, but he needed them. Kronos
had kept very detailed files on the local martial artitst, especially those
with exceptional ki.
"Listen," he said, "I'm also looking for Ranma Saotome." He saw
Ukyo's eyes widen at his statement, her expression instantly turning to
distrust.
"Why? And how do you know his name?"
"Others have asked about him," he replied. "Tetsuro and Mizuki will
lead you to them. Once I find Ranma, we'll get out of here." Agito knelt
down, easily lifting the manhole cover. "Now GO!"

Ukyo grudgingly moved toward the open manhole, knowing deep inside
that there was no other way. Konatsu climbed down first, crinkling his nose
at the stench.
"You had better bring Ranma," Ukyo growled at the armored individual
before going down herself.

======================================

"Good timing, son in law," Cologne quipped as the boy came to a halt
alongside her. He looked much the worse for wear, his clothes hanging off
his muscular frame in tatters. The others of the Tendo Dojo joined him, all
of them looking as if they had come out of a war.
Well, that wasn't very far from the truth.
        "Any idea what's goin' on?"
"Aside that we're being attacked by monsters, not a clue."
"Real damn funny ya old bat!"
        "Great Grandmother! Look!"
Cologne's retort was cut off by Shampoo's urgent cry. In the
distance she saw another horde of creatures bearing down on them, the
horrible sounds of their approach echoing off the nearby buildings.
"Looks like it's time to beat a hasty retreat," Genma said as he
turned the other way. "Or not..."

Ranma looked behind only to find another group of those monsters
charging toward them. Aw, damnit, what else could go wrong!
The rooftops were out. Those things may have been too heay to jump
across roofs, but some of them were damn fast on the ground. Many of them
could fire strange ki blasts of some sort, and with lethal accuracy.
        They were trapped.
        No! I ain't gonna quit!
Ranma gritted his teeth and gathered the remnants of his energy. If
this was to be his final stand, then he would go out with a bang.
The creatures crowded around them, their growls and hungry looks
chipping away at his resolve. He looked over at Akane, focusing past her
fear and bringing the sword her father had given her to bear. No matter
what, he would make sure Akane would get out of this mess.
"You ready for it, boy?" one of them asked.
"Bring it on, freaks!" he shouted in response.
Ranma never saw it coming. A sound like the end of the world hit him
in the back like a concrete fist, intense heat baking his skin as a rush of
air whipped his hair in every direction at once. Brilliant white light
blinded him, forcing his eyes shut.
He opened his eyes, blinking them a few times to clear his vision.
His first act was to search for Akane. To his relief, she was unhurt, though
looking positively terrified.
Hey, all of them were looking a little scared, even the monsters!
Slowly, Ranma turned around to what everyone was gawking at... Oh,
man...
"It's Guyver Three!" one of the monsters screamed.
The black figure, what one of the freaks called Guyver Three, stood
in the middle of an enormous trench that had been burned into the ground
where the monsters had once stood. Ranma stared openly at his armored body,
feeling unsure of what to make of it. The black spikes on its arms suddenly
grew outward into gracefully curving blades, all four humming with a strange
power.
"Ranma..." Nabiki said. "Tell me he's on our side."
Without a word, the black figure leapt over their heads, coming down
in the midst of the monsters. His arms flashed nearly as fast as Ranma's own
Amaguriken attack, leaving creatures cleanly bisected in his wake.
"That answer yer question?" Ranma asked as he joined the fray. A
ball of ki formed in his hands, streaking out toward the nearest monster and
knocking it flat.
"Fall back!" one of them shouted before turning tail to run. It took
a total of four steps before a shaft of green light burned through its head.
The monster dropped like a ton of bricks, its body dissolving in moments.
The battle ended in less than a minute, the street littered with the
corroding corpses of monsters. The armored... man?... stood motionless aside
from the deep breaths he was taking. Ranma approached him cautiously,
unwilling to start another battle so soon.
        "Hey, you."
"Yes?" it replied, turning its head to face him. The blades shrank
back into his arms, becoming tiny stubs.
        "Thanks."
        "Are you Ranma Saotome?"
"Y-yeah?" Ranma drew back, preparing to fight once more. Aw, man,
please don't let this guy be another whacked out martial artist!
"Come with me. We have to get out of here."
"Now hold it! I ain't leavin' until I find my mom and my friends!"
"Ukyo Kuonji, and Nodoka Saotome, correct?"
"How do you know their names?" Genma bellowed.
"They're safe," the armored man replied. "If you'll stop arguing, I
can take you to them."
        "WHERE ARE THEY?!"
"Just shut up and follow me, Ranma."

=================================================

Well, while writing this, I came up with a few more ideas for the
plotline. I tried to set things up for them in this teaser. Anyway,
depending on responses, I may continue it. Any C&C, advice, and well wishes
are welcome. Flames will be doused with my fire extinguisher. ^_^

        Thanks for reading!
