Hmm, send any and all comments and critisms please.
A quick note, I chose Coyote as the title since this animal is very important to my culture. He's the most powerful animal, and can assume any shape he wants. Unfortunately, he's very arrogant and unlucky, so...
With Coyote (or S'klep) as my inspiration, please enjoy this following teaser.
P.S. If anyone is looking forward to either of my other stories, please respond...They'd get done much faster if I knew anyone was reading them.

Part One
A Tired Reserve Awakens to a New Day
Nothing is ever forgotten, whether it is
someone's memory or an entire people. There is
always a reminder of whom we are, meditating in our
memories and sleeping in our souls.
Soun, caretaker of the only native martial arts
dojo in the province of British Columbia, read the
postcard in his trembling hand. "Today is the day
everything changes!" He brought his free hand to his
teary eyes and wiped away the moisture, then called
out, "Kasumi! Nabiki! Akane!"
The first two arrived promptly. The third, also
the youngest, did not.
"Where is that girl?" Soun asked.
The girl in question was arriving home at the
same moment from a jog. Quickly changing into a gi,
she proceeded to destroy a few helpless bricks.
"Humph, weirdo." Akane turned to see her sister
leaning against the dojo doorframe. Raising her
eyebrows at her sister's glare, Nabiki took a sip
from a slurpee she was holding. "That's what the
boys say anyway..."
"Who cares!?" Akane responded. "The world
doesn't revolve around them!"
"Nice." Nabiki stood up straight. "Anyway Akane,
I just came here to tell you Daddy wants to see us
in the living room."
There was something other than departing rain
clouds in the air, something exciting and enjoyable,
new and refreshing, yet terrifying and
unforeseeable.
People of Salmon Arm felt this oddity, yet kept
moving on, missing a scene one bystander watching
safely from his home could only attribute to the
Americans, "They're crazy!"
A big, furry black and white animal was chasing
a young red hair girl up the highway, scaring
traffic off of the highway into the barricade and
ditch sandwiching the road.
"Old man! I already said get lost!" The girl
quickly turned around and kicked the animal squarely
in the head, knocking it out.
Gossip from the car owners wondered what was
going on. It circulated about until a well-traveled
man called the animal for what it was, "A panda!"
The girl began walking away from the downed
panda. "And I'm back to China! See you around!" As
the girl said these words, the panda stood up and
pulled a speed limit sign out of the ground.
Obviously the girl overestimated her kick.
The panda gently crept up behind the girl and
hit her over the head with the sign. She promptly
fell over. With a strange grace, the panda picked
the girl up and started walking down the highway
into the city. Its only destination was the native
reserve on the city's far side.
"Fianc?" the three girls echoed.
"Yes, my friend and I did arranged this marriage
long ago so the Tendo family dojo could carry on!"
Soun replied.
"Is he older?" asked Kasumi.
Nabiki leaned forward, smirking. "I bet he's
cute."
"Boys..." Whatever else Akane muttered under her
breath was unintelligible.
"When will they get here?" Kasumi asked.
Soun responded, "Any moment now." The three
girls sighed in weariness.
Coincidently, there was a knocking on the door.
Waiting a few minutes, a large head poked its way
into the living room.
After a short scream, Soun quickly hid his
children behind him. "What are you?"
The panda lifted a red hair figure up.
"Ranma Saotome?" The red hair figure lifted its
head up at the name's mention. Soun forcefully took
Ranma from the panda and embraced Ranma. "I'm so
glad you're here!"
Quickly as he took Ranma into an embrace, Soun
suddenly held the red hair figure out. Wary of what
was waiting beyond his initial impression of Ranma,
Soun looked at the chest of his guest.
Nabiki poked one. "Excellent choice for a
fianc. Too bad we're not..." Her remark fainted
with her father.
"Father, you really shouldn't be so
disappointed..."
Nabiki shot a dagger glance at her elder sister
Kasumi. "If you think he's disappointed..."
"Nabiki, don't be so mean! He's...I mean Ranma's
our guest!" Akane blurted out. She turned to Ranma.
"Do you want to spar?"
The girl simply smiled, admirable considering
her situation.
"I'll go easy on you, okay?" said Akane, taking
ready position.
The red hair shrugged. "Do whatever you want."
Her stance remained neutral.
With no warning, Akane sprung at her opponent.
Her kick missed though, with Ranma simply jumping
over her leg.
"Whoa!" thought Akane. "She's better than I
thought!" Reversing her momentum, Akane kicked with
her other leg. Again she missed. Seconds later, she
felt a poke behind her head.
"I lost." Akane sighed. "But at least you're a
girl...Losing to a guy would be horrible."
Akane missed Ranma's frown.
Sitting on the balcony behind the Tendo home,
Ranma watched the trees gently sway in the breeze.
Behind her, Kasumi stood. "Ranma, we have a shower
if you'd like to use it.
"Um, no thanks."
Kasumi smiled. "I insist though. You're covered
in grime and sweat!"
"Kasumi?" Nabiki took her head out from the
living room. "Who's that old guy talking with
Daddy?"
"I wouldn't know."
Akane walked into the kitchen, holding some
clothes and a towel. "Kasumi, is that Ranma in the
shower?"
"Yes, she should only be a few more minutes
Akane."
"Kasumi? Who's that old guy?"
"I don't know."
The water for the shower quickly stopped. "I
guess I don't have a choice...Time to get out..."
emanated a male voice.
Before she could knock, the shower room door
opened revealing a clothed male. Akane said, "Hi."
She let the guy pass then slowly walked into the
shower room.
A few minutes later, she reappeared.
"But...wasn't Ranma just in there?"
Walking back to the kitchen, Akane asked her
eldest sister, "Kasumi, who was that guy who just
came out of the shower room?"
"I don't know." Kasumi smiled at Akane. "But if
you want to take a shower, you should do so now."
She ushered Akane back to the shower, then returned
to the task at hand. "Now, I wonder who that old man
and young guest are anyway?"
To be continued...
