Prince's Princess

It was a warm, slightly overcast afternoon at Ohtori.  Inside the rose
garden, the air was heavy with the scent of a thousand blossoms.  Anthy
Himemiya and Utena Tenjou were watering the plants; or rather, Anthy was
watering the plants, while Utena leaned back and talked.

"Oh, Wakaba and I have been friends forever," she was saying idly.
"Sometimes I think she's one of the most normal people I know.  Compared
to half the people around here ..."

Anthy nodded thoughtfully and cut a single rose from one of the bushes.

"Mind you," Utena said, "her mother used to tell her she was a princess
from the Onion Kingdom.  I guess that counts as a little weird --"

Anthy nodded again, and handed her the rose.  Utena took it and looked
at it, puzzled.

At that moment, from not far away, they heard a very distinctive voice
shout, "Onion Princess Power, Make-up!"

Utena looked at Anthy.  Anthy looked back at Utena.  Together, they ran
for the door.  They were just in time to see a girl running past.  She
was dressed in a rather curious costume.

Utena looked down at the rose in her hand.  "Of course," she said
slowly, "I did always say that I wanted to be a prince ..."

She pinned the rose to her lapel, produced a top hat from somewhere, and
ran out of the garden, heading after her friend.

Anthy smiled.
