While I myself can't think of a situation in which someone could use the
word "fag" without intending offence, no more than they could use any other
offensive slur (I'll refrain from giving examples), I'll take
Speeps@aol.com at his word.
Speeps@aol.com also posted patchmonkey@patchmonkey.net's privately-sent
e-mail in this reply, which is both against common Internet etiquette and
against rules laid out in the FFML FAQ.
I'll give Speeps@aol.com the benefit of the doubt in this situation, also
taking into consideration the fact that he apologized. He can consider
himself strongly warned for posting private e-mail. I have to rule based
on what's in the FAQ, and we've got nothing in it that really forbids the
kind of language he used in his original post, so long as he's using it
against fictional characters rather than listmembers, which falls under the
rule against flaming.
