I am well aware of that. However, just a question: Considering all of

could a Chrono Trigger fanfic be but alternate universe? ^_^

The exact circumstances that lead to the event are unimportant. The fact
that the events turned out the way they did in this story are is evident.
The means to this end is left up to the reader's imagination, as they are
not critical, and including them would only detract from the emotion of the
moment. For one thing, Lucca in the story doesn't *know* why it happened
this way.
One thing I've found in Nick's work is that it tends to require the reader
to apply their imaginations more than most. He often expects the reader to
surmise the backstory on their own, with only little hints as to that left
in the work. While I *might* have tagged this with an [Alt] if I had been
the one posting it, it's not essential to do so, as it is from the content
obviously an alternate universe.
