Konbanwa~

Hey everyone, this is my first post to the ffml, so please bear with me
^_^ My story is tentatively titled Sanuma Academic University, loosely
inspired by Miko's Muyami Academy story, a wonderful read may I add. Now, a
bit of background info.

My story is a large crossover, using Ranma Saotome of Ranma 1/2 as the
main character. The other titles involved are Ranma 1/2 (again), Maison
Ikkoku, Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam Wing, Aa! Megami-sama! (Oh My Goddess), Soul
Calibur (not an anime, but close enough), Inu-Yasha, Tenchi Muyo, Kowa Da
Greenwood, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Other titles will come and go in the story. The story mainly takes place
at a large, exclusive private school in a Tokyo suburb right outside of Tokyo
city. With a student body and faculty this talented adn varied, who knows
what'll happen? ^_^ And now, without further ado, the first three chapters of
Sanuma Academic University.

SPOLIER WARNING: Gundam Wing section begins where the tv series left off.
So if you haven't seen the last episode, you can skip chapter two. There's
no big surprises, it just says a lot of what they do in that episode.

    Chapter 1: Winter Ashes

The Nerima ward of Tokyo Japan lay spread out before him.

    Like a sea of pure, white snow everything within the city seemed quite;
tranquil. The snowflakes fell gently from heaven all around him, floating
down and resting upon the thick scarlet fabric of his wooden umbrella. The
sun peaked out from behind the dense wall of bleary gray snowclouds, creating
a mystical scene around him of bright, shimmering snow amongst the rocky
outcrops and tall pine trees. He had spent Christmas high in the mountains
above Tokyo, it's not like he chose to, it was mainly simply because he
couldn't find his way back home. It had been a quiet Christmas for the young
fighter, just him, his few belongings, and the Japanese outdoors. He had
spent the time alone training, training in preparation of his latest
challenge to his life-long adversary, that is, if he could find his way down
the mountain TO his adversary. He now stood on the edge of a cliff, taking in
the view. The streets that lay before him slowly began to stir to life, the
snow plows quietly humming through the streets. He could just barely make out
tiny children brightly dressed in warm clothing playfully rolling around in
the snowbanks. He wrinkled his nose to dislodge a stubborn snowflake, and
then he saw it. A large building compared to the other small houses, easily
visible and recognizable though covered with a heavy layer of snow.

    The Tendo Dojo.

He took a deep breath of the crisp, mountain air, the cold air stinging
his nose as he inhaled.

"I'm finally ready for you, Ranma!" he bellowed to the sky. "After weeks
of training in the mountains, I'll defeat you today!"

He listened in contentment as his proclamation bounced off of the cliffs
and mountain tops. He could beat him this time, he could feel it in his bones.

With a new resolve, Ryouga Hibiki shouldered his pack and started off
down the mountain going in the opposite direction.

_______________

"RANMA!!" yelled Akane Tendo up the stairwell, "We're going to be
LATE!!!"

The door to Ranma's room slid open as he hopped out on one foot trying to
get his other sock on. His hair was disheveled and it looked like he had just
thrown on the same uniform he had worn yesterday.

"Coming!" Ranma said as he half ran, half stumbled down the stairs as he
focused on buttoning the rest of his school uniform up. "Cut me some slack,
will ya?" he grumbled. "I just woke up a few minutes ago!"

Akane looked him over as they walked to the dining room for breakfast.
"Sure looks like it." she answered, eyeing his crumpled clothing and
disheveled hair.

Ranma tugged on his uniform and smoothed down his hair.

"Hey, at least I don't look like an uncute tomboy twenty-four seven!" Ranma
teased. He then shot off whooping with laughter, narrowly avoiding Akane's
mallet as it whizzed past his head.

"You jerk!" she screamed as she began chasing after him. "I'll get you
for that!"

Akane took several more wild swings until she finally connected one
solidly to Ranma's head. Ranma's skull reverberated dully as he crumpled to
the floor, swirls for eyes.

"Feh." she mumbled as she continued her walk to breakfast, making sure
that she stepped on Ranma's prone form as she passed.

"How the hell did I get footprints on my back?" Ranma wondered out loud
as he ran atop the wire fence en route to Furinkan High, skipping over
patches of ice that had frozen onto the metal.

Akane smiled as she ran along side him, her skirt billowing from the
chill wind. "I don't know," she lied sweetly. She pulled her useless thin
jacket around her shaking form tighter, hoping that it would block out the
chill January breeze. She shuddered violently as a sudden gust of icy wind
blew past the young couple.

Ranma glanced down towards Akane.

"You okay?" he asked suddenly, his fingers lingering around the clasps of his
own jacket.

    Akane sniffled as she walked.

"I'm just cold," she said. "I didn't think it would be this chilly out so
I only brought a jacket."

Akane was about to sneeze when she felt a heavy weight plop down onto her
shoulders, enveloping her in an instant warmth.

    "What..." she wondered out loud.

"It's my jacket, I'll be fine without it." Ranma said simply as he
avoided Akane's eyes. Akane thought she could see Ranma's cheeks redden, and
she didn't think it was from the cold.

"Um... thanks Ranma." Akane said. She looked up at Ranma now only in his
thin Chinese shirt and wondered what was going through his mind. She rubbed
the thick Chinese cloth between her fingers, it ran through her touch like
heavy silk. She inhaled deeply and smelled Ranma's scent. Strangely, it made
her happy.

"Akane?" Ranma asked suddenly, he stopped on the fence and looked into
her eyes.

"Yes, Ranma?" Akane replied, her heart beating against her chest so hard
that she was afraid it would break free.

"Could you wash it before you give it back? I don't want it smelling like
uncute tomboy." he said with a foolish grin.

Akane looked at him dumbfounded, and then began to fume. How could he say
such a mean thing even as a joke!

    "RANMAAAA!!"

She chased him the last two blocks to school, plowing through the snow as
if it were air.

    *DWOOOONGGG*

The monotonous, thudding chime of the Furinkan High School Bell Tower
announced the end of the school day. The doors literally exploded as the
students burst from the restricting confines of the school.
The shouts of the departing students could be heard all around.

"Seeya bro!"

"Meet me at my place at seven!"

"I am so tired! I hate school!"

"Call me tonight!"

"WAAAHH!! The principal cut off my bangs!"

After a few minutes, the sudden onrush of bodies slowed to a mere trickle as
the school began to grow empty, with Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo bringing
up the rear.

"Finally, school is done for the week." Ranma exhaled as he plopped down
on a bench next to Akane. He wrinkled his nose to dislodge a stubborn
snowflake that had landed there.

Akane observed his antics and gave a small giggle.

"You look so cute doing that!" she laughed.

Ranma simply smiled, as he reddened slightly. She was still wearing his
coat around her small shoulders. She was wearing it more comfortably now,
with her arms through the sleeves and not wearing it as a cloak anymore.

"I am so tired." he mumbled. "After three tests and this load of homework
to do, I don't know how this day can get any worse." he said, pointing to his
bulging bookbag. He got up stiffly and stretched, his wide yawns creating
small clouds in the frigid air. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open as he jumped
aside right when the ground where he had been standing seemingly exploded in
a flurry of snow and rock.

"The Bakusai Tenketsu doesn't seem to work as well on snow, P-chan" Ranma
said plainly.

Ryouga was about to launch a second attack on Ranma when Akane spoke.

"Oh! Hello Ryouga! I haven't seen you in so long!" she said happily.

    Ryouga instantly melted.

"She acknowledged me! She knows who I am! She really does care!" he
shouted happily in a dreamlike state, tears of joy pouring from his eyes. "I
can now die a happy man!"

Ranma smacked him in the back of the head with a thick icicle.

"Get real P-Chan." he asked as he tossed the icicle away. Ryouga
immediately stomped Ranma flat before pulling a pineapple from his pack.

"Freshly picked from my travels in Okinawa!" he said as he presented it
to Akane.

"Thanks Ryouga!" she answered as she took the prickly offering. <
Okinawa? Doesn't he mean in Hokkaido?>

"RYOUGA!!" yelled Ranma as he hauled himself off of the ground. "Is that
all you came for?!"

Ryouga smiled coolly as he brushed the hair out of his eyes.

"As a matter of fact, no." he replied. He then whipped out his umbrella
and brandished it menacingly as he added, "I've also come to KILL YOU!! DIE
SAOTOME!!" he cried. He then launched headlong into a second wave of attacks
using his umbrella.

< Armed combat...> Ranma thought as he staved off Ryouga's blows. < Kinda
weird for P-Chan, but the umbrella does give this brute more strength...>

Ryouga lashed out with an umbrella jab at Ranma's chest. Ranma quickly
clapped the tip of the umbrella between his palms and shoved the handle into
Ryouga's gut. He gave a small grunt as he felt the wind being driven out of
him.

"YOU'LL PAY!!" he shouted. He cast away the umbrella and instead moved to
his usual unarmed combat.

Their battle had moved away from the main street in front of the school
and the bench where Akane sat watching more towards the school itself. Over
the night the snow on the ground had frozen and solidified into a thick layer
of ice. Only the perfect balance of both martial artists kept them from
sliding.

"This is more like it!" Ranma said. Being faster than Ryouga, Ranma
easily had the upper hand. He blocked, dodged, and returned that Ryouga threw
at him. When he threw a punch, Ranma would block and kick. If he used a kick,
Ranma would dodge it and punch. It was hopeless.

< This is impossible, even after all my training he mocks me.> Ryouga
thought angrily as he lashed out with a roundhouse. Blocked with a downward
elbow from Ranma as he countered with an open palm strike to Ryouga's face. <
But I know one thing he can't dodge...>

Ryouga suddenly stopped running and stood still, the space between his
open palms began to glow a faint, shimmering blue.

    "Shi..."

< The Shi Shi Houkodan!!> Ranma realized. < I can't block, and it depends
on the size if I can dodge... WAIT!! I have an idea, but I'll have to time it
perfectly...> He thought. He dropped into a defensive stance, his right arm
hanging low towards the layer of ice covering the ground.

"...Shi..." The azure sphere of depression ki in Ryouga's palms slowly
grew to the size of a melon as it pulsed brightly with emotional energy.

    "HOUKODAN!!!" Ryouga yelled.

< NOW!!> Ranma slammed his right fist into the ice. "Kachuu Tenshin
Amaguriken!!" Instantly, the thick layer of ice instantly fissured and split
beneath their feet. Ryouga lost his footing on the uneven ice and slipped.
Everything was going according to Ranma's plan, except he hadn't counted on
Ryouga releasing the ki blast.

"Where did he fire at?" Ranma wondered aloud.

He received his answer soon enough. A resounding explosion filled the air as
loud as thunder, rattling his mind. And in a blinding flash if light, he
found his answer. Just behind Ryouga he could see the high clock tower that
sat atop Furinkan High slowly crumble to the ground in a shower of dirty
snow, bricks, and mortar dust. Where Furinkan had once stood now sat a
twisted wreckage of burning metal and concrete.

"Um... you want to leave? Like now?"

    "Sure, sounds great."

"Both of you are bakas... I swear..."

"Your school is closing down? Ranma! That's terrible!" Nodoka Saotome
said over the phone. "How will my son receive his much needed education?"

    Ranma sweatdropped.

"Mom, c'mon, I'm not that uneducated..." he said.

"I know, my son," sighed Nodoka, "but sometimes I just worry for you and
your future. But why is Furinkan closing?"

Ranma laughed uneasily as he shifted his position on the tiled roof above
the dojo so that his bandaged arm could rest more comfortably.

"Umm...there kinda isn't much of a Furinkan left..." he answered softly.
"Ryouga was in town and you know how he can get with his whole 'I've been
training so get ready to die' routine..."

Ranma could almost envision his mother shaking her head on the other end
of the line.

"Trouble just seems to follow you, my son." she answered. "But you cannot
change what is done. What do you plan to do about your education?"

"Well, I was thinking of having pop tutor me at home..." Ranma joked.

    "Ranma..." his mother warned.

"Kidding! Kidding!" Ranma said sincerely. "But I don't really know, there
aren't any other schools 'round here that I know of..." he answered, tracing
a shooting star across the clear night sky with his index finger; chasing it
until it fell behind the horizon It was a crisp, clear night in Nerima. The
snow clouds had cleared leaving the winter sky shimmering brightly above. "I
don't know what I'm going to do, there aren't any local high schools around
here."

Ranma could hear a shuffling of papers on the other end of the line.

"Ranma, I know of this prestigious private school in Central Tokyo, a few
minutes outside of the city in the countryside. I was considering having you
attend if you hadn't gone to Furinkan."

Ranma shook his head, tiny flakes of snow tumbling free from his hair.

"Geez mom, not a private school." he moaned.

"Ranma, your education suffered greatly under your father's supervision
while you were away in China. You are my son and I am not about to let that
happen again." she said sternly.

"Alright, alright." Ranma gave in. "I'll go. But what about Akane and
Nabiki?"

"I've already spoken to Soun and both of them will begin the same time as
you do when the next term starts in two weeks." she replied.

"TWO WEEKS!?" Ranma yelled. "I've only got two weeks to get ready?"

"I know it seems short my son, but make the best of it."

    "Alright mom, sayonara."

    "Goodnight my son."

Ranma hung up with a click of the off button. Letting out a melancholy sigh,
he nestled his head in his arms and looked at the stars above. His life was
changing so fast, so erratically, that he didn't know what to expect when the
sun rose with each new morning before him. Now he was going to start over
again in a new city, what kinds of challenges would he be presented with, he
could only wonder...

    Chapter 2: Spiritual Love

Far away in mainland Japan, a sub-space transport was refueling and
prepping for another trans-planet flight into space. Noisy crowds of people
crowded the spaceport, trying to get to their scheduled flights without
delay. A young teenage girl slowly moved through the teeming masses. Her blue
eyes sparkled brightly in the bright light of the spaceport as her long,
golden hair flowed behind her as she ran. She excused herself politely as she
rushed towards her appointed flight.

"Excuse me... sorry... pardon me..." she apologized quckly as she elbowed
her way through the crowd.

Finally, she made her way to the boarding entrance in front of the
transport and she let out a sigh of relief. Her advisor standing next to her
tapped her gently on the shoulder.

"Miss Peacecraft, what shall you be doing tonight to commemorate your
birthday?" he asked as the long line began to board the plane.

Relena Peacecraft, foreign minister, smiled as she held up a small
envelope.

"I don't have that much time, I'm afraid. I have to register for
schooling at Sanuma before the week is over." she replied to her advisor.

She smiled as she remembered how only a year ago how she had fussed over
celebrating her birthday, but now simply tossed it aside into the back of her
mind along with countless other appointments and schedules. But then again,
she hadn't been who she was a year ago, she had been Relena Darlian, a young,
sheltered rich girl, and not a princess or a foreign minister. That was all
before she had found out the truth, before her world had been turned upside
down, before she had found Heero...

"Passport please?" asked the spaceport personnel.

Relena snapped back to reality as she quickly withdrew the small booklet from
the pocket of her business suit.

"Here it is." she said as she handed her passport over.

After a quick flip through the pages, the attendant nodded and handed the
passport back to Relena. "Everything seems to be in order, Miss Peacecraft.
You may board."

Relena waved farewell to her advisor as she stepped up the gangplank.

As Relena quietly boarded the plane, she could smell the chemicals laced
with the air within the cabin. Her heels clicked on the metal as she quietly
made her way down the narrow, empty aisle.

In her hurry, she didn't see the flight mechanic in her path.

"Oh! Pardon me!" she apologized after she had bumped into him.

"'S'all right." mumbled the mechanic. He walked away from her quickly,
pulling the cap lower over his eyes and long brown bangs.

Something about him seemed so familiar to Relena, but she couldn't quite
place a finger on it.

< Something about him... the way he walked... his attitude...> she
pondered as she made her way to her seat at the back of the transport.

"Seat seventeen A... seventeen B... seventeen C! Here it is!" she said as
she found her seat assignment. She looked down at the leather lined chair and
gasped in surprise.

She picked up the small, plush teddy bear from the seat and gave him a
loving squeeze.

"Who left this here?" she wondered out loud. She looked around, no one
else who was on her flight had made their way back this far yet. She held the
bear close as she noticed the small envelope for the first time. Taking it in
her slender fingers, she pried open the flap and withdrew a small letter. She
read it silently as her eyes grew wide with surprise.

    "How... but where..."

The memory of the flight mechanic she had bumped into came rushing back
into her mind.

"HEERO!!" Relena yelled as she ran towards the entryway. "HEERO!!"

On the flight deck below, the lanky mechanic with the low cap and long
brown bangs looked up slowly. Relena suddenly appeared in the entranceway of
the transport, clutching the letter in one hand as she grasped the doorway in
the other.

    "Heero!" she called out.

"Relena." he said quietly in his soft, low voice.

"Next time," she said with a smile. "Give it to me in person." And with
that, she tore the letter down the middle and let the two halves flutter to
the deck below.

Heero nodded curtly and continued walking once more.

Relena watched him melt into the huddled crowd of people with a smile on
her face.

< Thank you, Heero...> she thought as she stepped back into the plane.
The hatch slid shut with a hiss as the cabin pressure equalized. Relena sat
back down in her seat as she buckled her safety harness, holding the teddy
bear close as she felt her body being driven into the seat as the transport
roared into the sky.

On the flight deck below, two torn pieces of paper fluttered in the air,
slowly burning to cinder from the transport's exhaust.

"Dear Relena-Happy Birthday. I know this isn't much, but I'll see you at
Sanuma in two weeks. ~ Heero."

    Chapter 3: Destiny Reborn

Far away, deep in the mountains of central India, was a vast, glittering
lake. It's surface reflected the night sky like a flawless mirror, the
picture flowing with the waves. It was surrounded by steep cliff and jagged
drop-offs, closing the lake off to any outsiders that dared to enter. The
only light besides the moon and the stars came from a small hut on the edge
of the vast lake. Calm voices could be heard inside the hermitage, discussing
matters of fate and destiny.

"Kilik... it is time." Edge Master said slowly, his quiet voice filling
the room.

"For what, sensei?" asked Kilik, thoroughly mystified.

"Kilik, I order you to your final trial." he said calmly.

Kilik leapt up from the table, his Kali-Yuga clattering hollowly to the
floor in his haste. Outside, the surface of the vast lake exploded as herons
and cranes flapped wildly as they took haste to flight, having been scared to
death by Kilik's screaming voice bouncing off the canyon walls.

"WHAAATT?!?!! he continued to scream. "I already accomplished my final
trial!" he argued. "My soul and rod are cleansed of evil!"

The old hermit's expression didn't change. His eyes twinkled a cold,
steely sapphire in the dim light of the single candle, his eyes seeming to
hold deep secrets locked behind the depths of his ancient, penetrating gaze.

"Think of this as round two." he mused. Kilik face-faulted onto the rough
wooden floor.

"Very well, what is it this time?" Kilik asked as he retrieve his rod
from the floor. The scar on his left cheek twinged slightly in uncertainty.

"Your mind is filled with unanswered questions, this I know, Kilik." Edge
Master replied. "But they will not go unanswered for long, Kilik. The
arrangements have been made, go East, Kilik. Go forth...

    "... To Tokyo..."

"Yes, sensei." Kilik answered obediently. He didn't have a single clue of
what was going on, but he wasn't about to argue with a man old as time itself.

"...Destiny and Soul will meet as one, bound by Fate... Your adversary
more powerful and evil than your darkest dreams..." he continued in a low,
cryptic voice, "Survive, Kilik. I shall be watching..."

The old hermit silently closed his eyes gazing at his pupil sitting
across from him. He quietly whispered in an unknown language, the tongue of
the sun and the stars, the dialect of the elements and the animals. The
twisting celtic emblem adorning his wrinkled brow began to glow a faint
emerald as he whispered. He slowly opened his eyes as he came out of his
prayer.

    Kilik was gone.
