This will be my last on the FFML on this topic, as I have seen through the
timegate a possible bannning of this topic...

There's another good story about this, by one of the Golden Age SF
writers, I believe. In the future, a group that arranges hunting parties
that hunt dinosuars exists. Everything they do is carefully planned in such
a way that the future is never altered (they only kill dinosaurs that are
about to die anyway, and they always make sure that they are killed where
they would have died anyway). One of the prime tenets of this activity is
that the people who go on the hunt never stray from the predetermined path,
and that they never touch anything.
------------------------
    *spoiler for the story*

Well, what happens is that there's a presidential election before these
guys go back, and this really great president wins. The men go back in
time, kill the dinosaur, but one man gets separated but later finds his way
back to the group. They return to the future, and the air smells different,
and the other presidential candidate has won...

What happened? The lost man had killed a mosquito.

    *spoiler end*
-------------------------

Slacker is right. The fact that Sailor Pluto can stop time is a sign of how
powerful she is. The fact that she has to use the gate to travel through
time shows that she's not entirely all powerful. However, anyone who can
change the past has the ability to affect the future.

Well I'm not an SM expert, but I am prety sure that Setsuna's
powers aren't terribly potent in manipulative terms. I mean
depending on the version, stopping time will either kill her or
banish her from reality for a time.

Stopping time isn't a good judge of power. It's one of the main
building blocks of reality. Of course stopping it would be extremely
difficult. Destroying a planet is child's play compared to it.

When you're talking about the ability to change the past (and thus,
the present and future) ANY ability is potent. While I don't totally
agree with the 'butterly's wings' theory, small changes at the right
point in time are capable of huge amounts of difference.

Think about it: one little change, say a faulty brake line on her
family's car, and Usagi could be massively different. Which could
(and probably would) result in massive changes to the rest of the
timeline.

Read "Sukeban Senshi" by Allyn Yonge for a good example of this idea.
