Part 17  "Sudden Thunder"

After taking off her shoes, Serena padded her way over to
Darien's couch and sat down. She turned her head to look at her
boyfriend and was glad to feel her body react the way it typically did,
even if the feeling was very faint.
"I won't apologize for being concerned," Darien began as he sat
down beside her.
"I never asked you to," Serena replied, "I know I worried you,
Darien... And about you."
"Then what was that all about yesterday?"
Serena sighed with a little exasperation before saying, "The
last thing I needed was for you to yell at me in front of Reenie."
"You're still mad about the boat ride?"
Serena glared at him. "Darien, this has nothing to do with the
boat ride. I'm sorry for not telling you we were going. I know I should
have but you would've tried to stop me."
"I care a lot about you, Serena. I mean what would happen to
Reenie if..."
"Shut up!" Serena yelled. Darien gave her a startled look. His
eyes were wide and he sat back from her. "This is about me and you.
Don't you dare bring Reenie into this!"
       "Serena..."
"No, Darien, you've had your say, a lot. Now you can listen to
me." Darien was looking at her as if she had grown another head. "Yes, I
could've put Reenie in danger. But I knew something was very wrong, and
I was right. 'Sides, we were only gonna be gone for a short time but
then, Reenie found out."
       "Oh?"
Serena sighed, "We tried, Darien. I knew it would be hard to
leave. It was the last time. Somehow, she found out though." The blonde
rubbed her forehead for a moment and sighed. Looking at Darien, she
continued, "I'm sorry, Muffin. I really am. If things had gone like I
thought, me and the girls would've been back even before we left. You,
Raye, and Reenie wouldn't have known anything about it."
"But because Lita stayed, it didn't work out that way."
       "That's what Amy thinks anyways."
"You can be such a meatball head at times," he said in
exasperation.
"I know." She blushed a little and hugged Darien. "I know that
Reenie could've been in danger but you don't know what I was feeling."
Wrapping an arm around his girlfriend, he hugged her. "I was
upset that you didn't call me when you first got back."
"I was worried about Reenie. Sorry."
"Are things better between you two?" Serena looked away for a
moment then nodded. "I tried to apologize about the boat ride."
"Muffin... Darien, we're Reenie's parents. Sure, we can't act
like it now but it hurts when you keep taking her side." Darien opened
his mouth but she held up a finger. "I know sometimes I deserve it but
take that boat ride. It was just us and she scared me. Instead of being
mad at her, you get majorly POed with me."
"I wouldn't feel comfortable scolding her," Darien argued, "I
mean I'm not even related to her yet. I'm just your boyfriend."
"Then don't say anything. At least not when Reenie's around."
"Okay," he agreed and was rewarded with a kiss. "So what was the
other me like?"
"Not as good as my muffin," Serena giggled and wrapped her arms
around his neck. She looked dreamily at him before saying, "Now where
were we before that little fungus interrupted us the other day..."

       "Mom?"
Mary Anderson looked up from the evening paper and blinked.
"Amy, what's wrong?" Her daughter's face was tear-stained, blue eyes
were red-rimmed and puffy. What was truly disconcerting was that Amy
looked frightened. "Where's Lita?" <She's usually here by now.>
"Mom, have you heard from her?" Amy asked.
"Not since last Thursday. You're really worried. Why?"
"Well, Lita hasn't attended school for two days. I tried calling
her but there was no answer. Then, I went to her apartment and she
wasn't there. Her bed hasn't been slept in."
Mrs. Anderson sat quietly for a long moment. "Anything else
odd?"
"She hasn't picked up any of her mail."
Her mother frowned a little. "When did you see her last?"
"Friday, she and I walked to Raye's." Amy sniffled a little. "We
left on our trip and well, that was it."
Mrs. Anderson got up and went to stand in front of her daughter.
"Amy, have you asked the others?"
"I just asked Raye and Reenie. You know Serena, Mina, and I were
going to the Hot Springs." A lump formed in her throat and she sniffled
again. "Mom, what if something really bad happened to her?" A tear
rolled down her cheek when she added, "What if I never see her again?"
She felt a little better when her mother hugged her.
"Neither Raye nor Reenie saw her?"
       "No."
"Why didn't Lita go with you on the trip?" her mother wondered.
"I don't think she could afford it. I offered to help her
but..."
<Why didn't she come to me for the money?> "All right, Amy,"
Mrs. Anderson said soothingly, "I think we should call the police."
"The police?!?" Amy squeaked out. She knew that this would
happen but it still sent a chill through her.
"It doesn't mean anything bad has happened to Lita.
Nevertheless, they should be informed." <I hope Lita's all right.> Amy
tried to blink away tears as she hugged her mother tightly. "Shhh...
It'll be all right, Amy."
<No, it won't,> the teen knew and cried even harder.

On Wednesday, the late afternoon sun peeked over a dark bank of
clouds. Shortly after school, Serena Tsukino lay on her bed reading a
comic book. The police had shown up at Crossroads Junior High earlier
and asked questions about Lita. They talked to Amy, Serena, Molly, their
teacher, and a few others. None had seen the missing teen since Friday.
The police were thorough. They had talked to everybody that Amy
had mentioned and a few that she hadn't even known about. Serena was
glad to be left alone for a little while. While she missed her friend,
it was hard to act like she thought Lita was in danger.

       "Serena!"
Getting up, Serena walked out of her room and down the stairs.
"Yeah Mom?"
"Serena," her mother asked, "Can you watch Reenie for us
tonight?"
"Sure Mom," Serena agreed with a grin.
"But, Aunt Ellen!" Reenie protested, "I don't need to be
babysat!" <I'm not a little kid!>
Ellen turned to her niece and explained, "Young lady, we aren't
going to leave you here all alone. Now you behave for Serena or you can
forget about that sleepover on Friday with Melissa." Reenie crossed her
arms and pouted. "If you're going to sulk, go do it in your room."
"Fine!" Reenie snapped and stomped by her aunt. Glaring at
Serena, she continued stomping up the stairs. Serena just giggled.
"You sure you want to babysit her?" Ellen asked.
Serena shrugged, "She always does this, Mom. So, is Sammy
staying too?" It could be fun to be in charge of him for the evening.
"No, we're dropping him off at a friend's. I'll leave you some
money for pizza." Ellen looked with some concern at her daughter then.
"Maybe we shouldn't go..."
"Mom, I'll be fine, I promise."
"All right, Serena, I'm just worried."
"So am I..." she admitted, "A little."

Reenie chuckled evilly as she carefully sat the monster water
balloon onto the floor. "Look at the size of it!" Diana did and backed
away. The green balloon was larger than she was.
"What are you gonna do with it?" Diana wondered worriedly.
The child rubbed her hands together in anticipation. "I'll show
Serena WHO'S in charge."
"Reenie," Luna's voice startled both child and kitten, "What on
earth are you planning on doing with that?"
"I'm just gonna have a little fun, Luna. Don't cough up a
furball about it," Reenie commented.
"Sit down," Luna directed. When the child didn't move, she
frowned and demanded, "Young lady, I told you to sit down!"
"Jeez, what a grouch," the pink haired girl grumbled but walked
to her bed and sat down. Luna nodded and padded over to the bed before
hopping up on it.
"Now what has Serena done that she deserves that?"
"She coulda told Aunt Ellen that I don't need a babysitter."
"You're only eight. Mrs. Tsukino wouldn't let you stay by
yourself. Neither would Serena." <Or I.>
"She tried to boss me around."
Luna looked at Diana. The gray kitten sighed a little and said,
"Small Lady, she just asked if you wanted to do your homework together."
<Melissa's my best friend, not her,> Reenie thought darkly,
<Next, she'll wanna hog my bed and give me baths like I'm some baby
kindergartner or something.> Seeing Luna was looking at her expectantly,
she remarked, "Well, I don't need that Meatball Head making me get my
homework wrong."
Luna sighed heavily then. "Reenie, Serena cares a lot about
you." The child shrugged as if she didn't believe this statement. "The
other Reenie wanted you and Serena to get along."
"Yeah, the PERFECT one. What does she know?"
       "She knows Serena loves you."
Reenie swallowed hard and stated petulantly, "You're just trying
to get me to be nice to Serena."
Luna grinned mischievously. "Reenie, the other you wanted me to
tell you something too."
       "What?"
"Lean down," the black cat directed. When Reenie did, Luna moved
so that her head was close to Reenie's ear and whispered something.
Diana watched with amazement as first her charge's eyes grew wide and
then a blush spread from her neck all the way up to her hairline.
"You know about that?!" Reenie squeaked. She sounded quite
flustered.
"Yes and the other Reenie told me to tell Serena too." Reenie
blushed even more if that were possible.
"Please, Luna, don't do that!" She'd be absolutely mortified if
anybody ever found out. It would be difficult enough to live it down if
the girls or Darien found out but Serena finding out would be
devastating.
"So, are you going to use that water balloon?"
Reenie looked at the balloon for a long moment then sighed.
"No."
"Good. Then I won't tell Serena. In fact, I'll forget it."
       "Promise?"
"Yes, I'll promise that. If you can promise me that you'll try
to get along with Serena. I know she wants to try and get along with
you."
"'Kay," the child agreed reluctantly and gave Luna a scratch
behind the ear. "Is Serena mad at me?"
Luna blinked, "Not that I know of."
<I bet I'll never get one that big again.>
"Reenie," came the voice of Serena, "Come here for a second."
"Be right there!" Getting up, she started across the room but
tripped over the balloon. All three occupants watched as the water bomb
rolled across the floor, balanced for a moment on the edge of the
stairwell, then... "SERENA! WATCH..." Reenie began but it was too late
for the balloon dropped at that instant. There was a loud smack and a
small fountain of water before a loud cry could be heard.
Darting forward to the edge, Reenie looked down to see a very
soaked blonde glaring up at her. As the teen moved forward, Reenie slid
the loft door closed and sat on it. "You gonna tattle?" she demanded of
Luna.
"No," Luna said, "She'd never believe me."
"REENIE! OPEN THIS DOOR THIS INSTANT SO I CAN PUT YOU OVER MY
KNEE!" Serena demanded while hammering on the door. Reenie sat still and
didn't move. She prayed Serena wouldn't try forcing her way in either.
After a short time, everything was quiet.
       "Think she's gone?" Diana asked.
"No way I'm gonna open it and find out," Reenie remarked. <Why
does this stuff always happen to me?>

Reenie Tsukino crept down her attic stairs and peeked around the
corner. The hallway was empty. "Serena?" she called out softly but there
was no response. Her tummy grumbled its complaint; it was hungry.
Shuffling forward, she padded down the hall to her mother's room.
<Luna's right. Serena will listen. I didn't mean it. It was an
accident.> She just hoped the Lunar Cat was right.
After tapping gently on the door, the little girl opened it a
little way and peeked inside. The room was gloomy and empty. <Where is
she?> Serena was probably eating all of that yummy pizza by herself!
       "HIYA LITTLE SISTER!"
Reenie whirled around and fell into the room landing
unceremoniously on her rear. She stared up from her position on the
floor to find Serena grinning at her. The teen giggled a little bit.
"What did ya do that for?!?"
       "Sorry, Little Sister."
Reenie's face crumpled a little bit and she sniffled, much to
Serena's surprise. Then in an angry voice, the child ranted, "Why do you
always want me to be the other Reenie? I thought you liked me?!" Serena
moved forward to lift her up but she batted the teen's hands away. "I'm
not a little kid! I'm not your little sister!" Tears of anger washed
over her cheeks and Reenie felt resentment that Serena was seeing her
cry, had made her cry. <Probably did it on purpose,> Reenie thought
bitterly. "I'M NOT THE OTHER REENIE!" Why couldn't Serena see that?
Serena stared at her daughter for a long moment, then sat down
on the floor where she stood. "Reenie, I know you're not the other
Reenie."
"Good. So you know I'm not `perfect´."
"The other one isn't perfect either," Serena said gently.
"Sweetheart, to me, you're the perfect one."
"Huh? You're just making that up."
"I came back, didn't I? I came back because I wanted to be with
you." The child sniffled a little. "The other Reenie has her own Serena.
Just like I have you and I'd never want to give that up."
Reenie wiped her eyes and asked throatily, "Really?"
"Of course," the blonde answered, "I never meant to hurt your
feelings, Little Sister..." Seeing the mask of anger return to the
little girl's face, she quickly amended, "Reenie, I'm sorry. I know...
I keep thinking of the other Reenie. She was a great big sister. I just
wanna be that for you."
"I'm not a little kid," Reenie argued, "I can take care of
myself."
<She's only eight but...> Serena stared at her daughter for a
long moment and then through the confusion and hurt she was feeling, she
realized something. <I felt stifled sometimes when Reenie was my big
sister. Maybe I've been trying to do too much for Reenie?> "You're
right, Reenie." Sighing a little, she wiped at her own eyes then. <I
shouldn't really cry. I knew this would be hard.> "I'm sorry. I just
wanted to be close like when you were first here. I liked that." When
she looked up, she saw that Reenie had moved a little closer.
       "You think I'm perfect?"
"You're my daughter," the blonde said with a grin, "Or will be
but I'd never want to replace you." Holding open her arms, she asked,
"Can I have a hug?"
Reenie scrambled forward, gave Serena a hug, and settled onto
her lap. "I thought you were gonna stay with the other me."
"I missed you too much," Serena replied and hugged her daughter.
"Pumpkin, I know I said a lot of mean things to you. I guess I messed up
majorly. I'll try not to be such a pain." After a long moment of
silence, Serena suggested, "You wanna see what I looked like?"
Reenie turned her tear-streaked face up at Serena and blinked.
"What?"
"I said do you want to see what I looked like?"
"I guess..." Reenie wasn't sure what Serena meant. She was a
little disappointed when Serena shifted her onto the floor.

Reenie watched with curiosity as Serena stood up and made a
flicking motion behind her back. When her hand reappeared, she was
holding the Disguise Pen.
"Disguise Magic! Make me a six year old!"
The pink haired girl shielded her eyes from the bright light.
When the magic light had faded, her red eyes enlarged as she stared at
Serena. Gone was the teen. Instead, a six year old girl looked back at
her and giggled.
"Wow..." Reenie said and, getting up, was a little shocked to
see how much bigger than Serena she was now. <She's really cute!> Her
mother held still as she walked around the child. "Was this really you?
I mean the other you?"
"Yep." Her voice was high-pitched as well. Serena grinned. "I
should change back though." Within moments, the small child was replaced
with Serena's regular fifteen year old self. The teen put the Disguise
Pen away and glided over to the bed before sitting down.
"And she was me?" Serena gave the child a blank look. "I mean
she was Chibi-Moon?"
"Yeah, but I was still called Sailor Moon. The other Reenie
didn't want to be Sailor Moon even when we switched broaches."
"I wouldn't wanna be Sailor Moon," Reenie confessed softly.
Coming over, she sat down beside Serena, but not too close, and asked,
"So what did you do?"
"I rang the bell," Serena told her, "And I even got to use your
attack once."
The pink haired girl blushed brightly and looked towards the
floor. <Now she knows how lame I really am. Maybe she'll send me home.>
She missed her mother but she'd miss Serena too if she did return home.
She had missed her "cousin" when she had gone home both times before.
       "I'm very proud of you."
       "Huh?"
"I said I'm proud of you," Serena said again, "I mean you do a
very important job."
"Don't make fun of me," Reenie whined, "Mommy sent me back here
because I needed more Scout training." She felt the old hurt and
resentment wash over her at the thought. "You know I'm not any good."
"But you are!" Serena protested, "Sweetheart, I wouldn't be able
to beat the Lemures without you." The child looked dubious so she added,
"Well, you ring the Charion Bell to call Pegasus, right? That takes a
very special type of person. I mean he just doesn't talk to everybody."
<Talk?!> Reenie was startled. Was Serena saying that she knew
about Pegasus? Or knew OF A Pegasus? "When I see him, I have nice
dreams."
"So do I," Serena admitted, "I bet your mommy is proud of you
too."
"She said I needed more training." Reenie looked towards the
floor then. She felt a little better when Serena slid closer and wrapped
an arm around her.
"Maybe she couldn't tell you that I needed you."
"Huh?" Reenie looked at Serena and found the blonde tapping her
lip thoughtfully.
"Well, you're not allowed to tell me about the future, right?"
Reenie nodded. "Well, you're here now so it's the future for you too."
The child seemed baffled. "I'm sure she's proud of you. I'm her, aren't
I?"
"No!" Reenie snapped. The tone had taken Serena by surprise. "My
mommy's a beautiful lady and the Queen." She gave Serena a hard look and
continued, "You're just my meatball headed cousin."

Serena was hurt. She sniffled a little but didn't yell like she
wanted to. <Think Serena. Reenie doesn't want you as a big sister. Maybe
she doesn't want you as a mom for the same reason.> "You don't want me
to be your mom?"
Reenie glanced away and said, "I know you'll be my mommy. I love
Mommy but you aren't her... yet." The child turned and regarded Serena.
"I love you though."
"I love you too, Reenie," Serena retorted and hugged her
daughter. "I promise I'll try just to be your cousin."
"Thanks Serena," the child replied and hugged the teen back.
After a moment, she confessed, "I'm sorry 'bout the water balloon. It
was an accident. Ask Luna."
       "I don't think you're fibbing."
"You gonna tell Aunt Ellen?" the child asked. The blonde shook
her head. "You gonna..."
"Nah, I was overreacting," Serena admitted, "Sorry about that."
She gave Reenie another squeeze before pushing the little girl back a
little. "Reenie, I want you to know something. I know you have to keep
some secrets. I trust you and you shouldn't worry about telling me
anything; I think you're big enough to decide whether you need to tell
me or not." The hug she got back was crushing.
"Can I ask you something?" Reenie asked as she shifted herself
onto Serena's lap.
       "What?"
"How come you didn't punish me when you fell into the lake? How
come you tattled to Aunt Ellen?"
"First, I didn't `tattle´ to Mom." The child blushed a little
upon hearing this. "Secondly, I'm not supposed to punish you."
       "But you..."
"Mom doesn't say anything but I think she's worried because we
argue a lot and I'd do it just to be mean."
"Oh..." Reenie took on a thoughtful look.
<Reenie needs something to hug,> Serena decided, <I'd hug her
again but I'd better not push my luck.> She had accomplished a lot
today. <Now where's Mr. Floppy?> She looked over to the bookshelf. <He's
not where I left him. Maybe Reenie got him after I left.> Serena said
softly, "Can I ask you something?"
       "I guess."
"Where's Mr. Floppy?" Reenie sniffled again and gave Serena a
sad look. "What's wrong?"
"When you didn't come back, I came in and got him." Reenie
swallowed and then continued, "But I don't know where he went." She
vaguely remembered throwing him in a temper tantrum.
"I tell you what," Serena suggested, "Let's go order that pizza,
then we'll look for him, okay?" Reenie sniffled a little and nodded.

"You know, Mrs. Tsukino wouldn't like this," Diana commented.
"Oh, put a sock in it!" Reenie snapped tersely as she scrabbled
through the dirty clothes hamper. "Where did you see it last?" Diana
didn't respond, much to the little girl's irritation. With annoyance,
she slammed the hamper lid down and stomped down the stairs. <Would Aunt
Ellen take it?> Maybe given her behavior last weekend.  Walking down the
hall, she was about to enter her aunt and uncle's bedroom when Diana
called out.
       "What?"
"You aren't gonna go in there, Small Lady," Diana warned
sternly, "That would be wrong." Reenie set her jaw stubbornly. "You can
ask Mrs. Tsukino tomorrow."
"But I want him NOW!" the pink haired girl shrieked and stomped
her foot. The Lunar Cat rolled her eyes and sighed.
       "Reenie!" Serena's voice called out.
Turning, the little girl went quickly down the hall and thudded
down the stairs two at a time. "Yeah?"
"Guess what I found?" Serena said while smiling at her daughter.
"You found him?" Reenie asked excitedly.
"In the dryer," Serena replied and held out Mr. Floppy for the
child to see.
"How'd he get in there?" Reenie asked. Serena shrugged.
"Here," Serena said and gave Reenie the stuffed bunny.
       "I can have him back?"
"When you threw him at me before I was feeling a little lonely
so I kept him," Serena confessed, "But he's yours."
Reenie hugged the toy to her, for the moment, not minding if her
cousin saw her. "So I can really have him, Serena?"
"I gave him to you, didn't I?" She bent forward and gave Reenie
a pat on the head. The child hopped up and hugged her around the neck.
"We've had supper. Want to take a bath and then we can watch a movie or
something?"
"Would you take it with me?" the pink haired girl queried.
       "Sure."
"Good," Reenie replied and felt happy.

Friday had been a mixed bag of weather. It had rained on and off
for most of the morning although a weak sun appeared through the
thinning clouds by mid-afternoon. The sky had cleared by the time that
school had let out but it was still rather cool. The police still held
hopes out to find the missing Lita Kino.
Serena glanced at her watch for the tenth time then shook her
head. <Just be patient!> she told herself sternly. She was leaning
against the stone wall that surrounded Reenie's elementary school.
However, she was waiting around a corner, out of sight of the main
entrance. It was tough fighting the urge to go and talk to the children
she recognized from her first grade class while she waited. <They
wouldn't know who I am,> she thought dejectedly. <Maybe I should just go
get Reenie.> She stopped herself. <Jeez! I'm still as impatient as when
I was six!>
"Something wrong, Serena?" Luna asked. She was draped across
Serena's shoulder.
"No, I was just thinking I was being impatient."
After another few minutes, she heard sounds of running feet and
soon, Reenie came racing around the corner. The child nearly tripped
over herself as she tried to stop from running into Serena.
"Hi Reenie," Serena greeted the pink haired child.
"You know I can find my own way to the temple." Reenie gave a
hasty glance over her shoulder and moved so that she was out of sight of
the main entrance.
"Hi Princess!" Diana mewed from Serena's arms.
"I know, Pumpkin," Serena said, "But there isn't a meeting
today."
       "Sorry Serena. It's just..."
"Melissa would give you a hard time, huh?" The child nodded.
"Well, Raye called and said that the temple was being used today. It
wouldn't've been much of a meeting anyway with just the three of us."
"Hi Diana, Luna," Reenie greeted the cats. She then settled
Diana into the customary position atop her head. "Three of us?" Reenie
asked as they started walking down the sidewalk.
"Okay five. Amy's gone for an interview. I think she said she
was gonna start volunteering at the center where she swims. Mina's with
Carrie." The blonde looked down at her daughter. "So you gonna try and
catch up with Melissa? I can tell Mom if you want."
"I gotta go home 'n' pick up my stuff first," Reenie said,
"Melissa was real happy I could come to the sleepover tonight." They
walked on for a few moments then Reenie asked, "I wish I had a real
communicator though, then Raye could call me too." Luna Ball could be
used as one but Reenie couldn't have it following her around all the
time; she wasn't a little kid after all. "How come I don't get a
communicator like yours? I'm a Sailor Scout too!" Serena shrugged.
"I don't have one for you, Reenie. Sorry," Luna remarked.
"Neither do I," Diana chimed in.
Reenie muttered disgustedly but grinned when Serena giggled.
"Are you goin' somewhere?" Reenie asked.
"I might go 'n' see Molly. I think she's a little miffed at me."
       "Want me to take off?"
Serena shook her head. "Nah. I just want to visit for a bit. You
can come if you want, Cousin."
"Thanks," Reenie chirped and took Serena's hand.

The Amazon Trio was gathered at their private bar inside the
Dead Moon Circus tent. "That old battle-axe..." TigersEye growled as he
finished off the last of his drink.
"Your luck capturing Pegasus is the same as your luck with
women!" HawksEye taunted, a dangerous note in his voice. He smiled when
TigersEye glared at him.
"Both of you are wrong," FishEye pointed out before TigersEye
could say anything, "I'll show you how to find the one whose dreams
Pegasus hides in." She sifted through the pile of photographs that were
lying on the bar. "Yes... Here... This person has pure dreams."
"Her?!" HawksEye scoffed, "She's too young. A mere child."
"Exactly," the woman replied while turning to regard her
companions. "She's young and not yet interested in boys." She looked
scornfully at the two men. "Maybe it's good thing that you aren't taking
this assignment... She'd never be interested in a BOY'S wishful
thinking."
       "WHAT?!?" both males shouted.
"Yes, Jenny Baker," she cackled evilly, "I will get the Golden
Mirror, for Pegasus is surely hiding in your pure dreams."

Jenny Baker came racing out of the pawnshop with a wail. "Jeez,
Mom's going to be majorly POed!" She glanced at her watch. <I thought I
set the alarm! Stupid piece of junk! I'm gonna get grounded for sure!>
That would be crushing considering her big sister was quite boring. Even
worse, that geeky dweeb Melvin would be around which meant she'd likely
be forced to clean her room. <What's wrong with my room?> she whined as
she raced across an intersection almost crossing against the red. <It
doesn't look like a tomb!> She just had more taste than others she could
name did.
A crash to her left from a small courtyard brought her up short.
Turning, Jenny saw a woman glaring down at something. "Are you all
right, Ma'am?" she asked.
"Huh?" the woman answered and looked up. "Yes, young lady,
thanks." The woman turned her gaze at the object and kicked it. It
skidded across the ground, coming to rest against Jenny's foot.
"Oh..." the eleven year old said and bent down. <A jewelry box.>
She'd never seen anything like it before. It was made out of some kind
of dark wood and looked very solid. <I don't recognize the wood.> It
seemed to be in very good condition. Picking it up, she carefully opened
it and peered inside. She found little compartments and even, a couple
of small drawers. <This would be way cool for some of my smaller stuff.>
"Did you just buy this?" she asked as she moved towards the woman.
<Maybe the shop has another one I can check out.>
"No, I was trying to get rid of it." The eleven year old was
slightly startled.
"It's so cool. What's this strange design?"
"It's a family crest," the woman replied.
"Why would you wanna get rid of it?" Jenny asked. The woman
blinked. "Pardon me, Ma'am, I know I shouldn't be so nosy." She held out
her hand. "My name's Jenny... Jenny Baker."
"Really?" She shook the offered hand.
       "Uh, you've heard of me?"
"Yes. I've heard that you like to collect things." Jenny beamed.
"Would you like to keep that?"
"Can I?" the girl asked excitedly and then quickly sobered, "How
much were you..."
"Nothing. Although if you have a mirror..."
       "Mirror?"
"Yes, I collect mirrors. I'm looking for a very special mirror.
I was hoping to find you, to see if you had it."
"I don't think I have any mirrors," the preteen replied,
sounding rather doubtful. She was feeling uneasy about this for some
reason. <Never heard of anybody collecting mirrors.>
"Let's find out, shall we Jenny?" the woman declared and took a
step back. Jenny blinked and looked on in wonder as a blue curtain with
the same strange marking as the jewelry box appeared from nowhere.
"What's happening? Who are you?!?" Jenny demanded.
"I am FishEye of the Dead Moon Circus!" FishEye declared after
the curtain had risen. "Now about that mirror."
"I don't have any mirror! Get away from me!" the girl yelled
while starting to back up.
"But you do, and finding it is as simple as one!" The young girl
let out a startled gasp as a board formed behind her. "Two!" The jewelry
box clattered to the ground as Jenny was secured in place against the
board. "THREE!"
       "NO!!!!" Jenny howled.
FishEye smiled. "I told you, you had a very special mirror."

Serena glanced at her sulking cousin and shook her head. They
had gone to the Osa*P Jewelry Store to visit with Molly but instead
discovered that she was out looking for her little sister. Mrs. Baker
was anxious that her youngest daughter hadn't come home to go shopping
with her for new clothes. Jenny was well known to be tardy, not to
Serena's degree, but with the recent disappearance of Lita Kino, Mrs.
Baker was more worried than usual.
Therefore, Molly had been dispatched to round up her little
sister. Serena had stayed just long enough to be polite, and to let
Reenie browse the different display cases, before heading for home.
Glancing at her little cousin, Serena decided, <I'll drop Reenie
off, then find Molly, and help her look.> Just in case Jenny hadn't been
found by then. <I won't put Reenie out. She's been extra good this week
just to get that sleepover.>
When the little girl continued to pout, Serena's annoyance
reappeared. "Now don't pout!" the teen admonished her daughter as they
walked down the sidewalk towards home. "You know I don't have that kind
of money. Heck, I don't even think Darien has that much cash so don't go
asking him to get you that necklace either."
Reenie gave her mother a sulky look before saying, "That's
'cause you keep snarfing all of his food!"
"Are you calling me a pig?"
       "If the shoe fits..."
"Why you little..." Serena began and made a grab at the child.
"I'll be good!" Reenie squealed as Serena hefted her over her
shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"Too late!" Serena declared with a smile and set off down the
street towards home.
"Lemme GO!!!!" the pink haired girl demanded.
"Gah, you're getting big." Reenie was pleased at the compliment.
"I don't snarf as much as you!" She tried to sound indignant but
moments later, she started to giggle. "Please Serena?"
       "NO!!!!"
"Gee, I was just kidding," Reenie grumbled. She squeaked
slightly as Serena put her down.
"Wasn't me, Kiddo." The child was about to reply when they heard
another scream. "Let's check it out." Reenie nodded and the pair ran
towards the source. When they saw the familiar form of FishEye, Serena
announced, "It's the Negaverse!"
       "Let's transform!" Reenie suggested.
       "Right!"
Together they shouted, "MOON CRISIS MAKE-UP!"

Molly Baker ran down the street. <Where are you, Jenny?>
Something was wrong. She felt a cold lump in the pit of her stomach. Her
mother had sent her out to find her wayward little sister. She tried not
to worry. <You can be such a pain sometimes! I know Lita's missing
but... I bet she just got sidetracked at a pawnshop. With my luck,
she'll get grounded and I'll be stuck watching her!> And that would
cancel her date with Melvin.
The redhead rounded a corner and came to a halt when she heard
an explosion. <What was that?!?> she wondered and ran forward. She
halted again as a blue and white streak went sailing through the air
before striking a car on the other side of the street. <A Sailor Scout!>
Before she understood what she was doing, Molly ran forward
towards the blue-clad Scout. Another explosion knocked her off her feet.
"Careful Mars!" came the testy voice of Sailor Moon. Mars' reply
was lost in the roar of the Lemure. Molly on the ground sat dazed. Now
she could see the other Sailor Scouts except for Sailor Jupiter battling
a strange creature. It looked like the body of a man with a seal's head.
A pointed hat sat atop it. Its arms though were cannons. From the left,
it shot dark pulses of energy. From the right, nets of darkness flew
through the air.
As the initial daze left her, Molly's blood started running cold
as she saw the slumped figure before her. "Jenny..." she whispered. The
battle seemed to subside. <What did they do to you?> Was she dead?
"No..."
       "CHIBI-MOON!! TUXEDO MASK!!"
Molly's head jerked around at the cry. She saw the littlest
Sailor Scout and Tuxedo Mask caught in some netting. Sailor Moon was
trying to free them.
Another volley of energy blasted Sailor Mars off her feet. Why
wasn't anybody doing anything?! She turned to see Sailor Mercury slowly
staggering to her feet.
"A nice dream," a strange woman dressed in a puffy blue outfit
was saying, "But he's not here. Pegasus might return. Kill the girl and
these pesky Sailor Scouts!"
       "Yes Mistress!" the Lemure agreed.
"NO!" Molly shouted, scrambling to her feet. <What am I doing?>
she thought, <I'm not a Sailor Scout.> But Jenny was her sister. She had
to do something. She saw the creature advancing on Sailor Moon.
<Serena...> Looking around, she found a rock and flung it at the
creature. "HEY YOU!!!!"
       "Molly! RUN!" Sailor Moon shouted.
<No, I won't leave Jenny.> But what could she do? The monster
didn't even look in her direction. <So weak...>
"You can help." Molly looked around. Where had that voice come
from? She looked down into the eyes of Serena's pet cat Luna.
       "A... A... t-talking c-cat???" Molly felt faint.
"Snap out of it, Molly. We don't have time. Will you help?"
"Y-Yes but..." she stuttered to a halt as Luna did a backflip.
That in itself was remarkable. However, to have something clatter to the
ground in front of her feet was even more so. It looked like some sort
of strange pen.
"Take it quickly and shout `JUPITER STAR POWER!´" She stared at
Luna for a long moment until she heard a cry. Looking up, she saw that
Sailor Moon was kneeling. The monster towering over her.
Without further thought, she snatched up the item and shouted
out, "JUPITER STAR POWER!"
The world froze for an instant. Deep within Molly, something
stirred and awakened. Magical light swirled around her as her clothing
shifted. Her shoes became boots. Her skirt shortened and changed color.
Bows appeared along with gloves. A tiara formed on her brow.
She knew what she had to do.
"HEY SEALBRAIN!" she shouted again. This time, the Lemure
turned, "For harming my friends and family, on behalf of the planet
Jupiter, I will punish you!" She could see Sailor Moon staring bug-eyed
at her.
The Lemure lurched towards her. The cannon fired and she leapt
out of the way. "JUPITER THUNDERZAP CRASH!" she yelled. The newest
Sailor Scout felt a ripple of energy run through her and she watched
with half-surprise as the attack launched out and struck the creature.
"Chibi-Moon! Sailor Moon quickly!" Luna demanded.
       "Right!" both Scouts replied.
"Please, Pegasus, protect everyone's dreams!" Chibi-Moon shouted
before raising from her kneeled position and calling out, "TWINKLE
YELL!" She rung the Charion Bell.
Jupiter had been preparing another attack when a flash in the
sky stopped her. She stared with amazement at the beautiful winged
creature that appeared.
"MOON GORGEOUS MEDITATION!" Sailor Moon cried.
The Lemure gave one final shriek before crying out, "Stage out!"
The board behind Jenny disappeared and she collapsed unconscious to the
ground.
"Lita?" The redheaded Scout turned to see Mercury staring at her
in shock.
"Jupiter?" Mars asked. Sailor Moon seemed stunned. Chibi-Moon
was also looking very confused.
"Please meet the new Sailor Scout of Jupiter. Molly Baker."

End of ACS II

Authors' Afterwords:

Another story is finished. We started working seriously on ACS II back
in August 1999. There has been a lot of demand for a sequel since the
original "Adventures of the Chibi-Scouts" was finished in 1997. It was
difficult to come up with plots and subplots that would be worthy of a
sequel. I hope we have succeeded.

Why did we have Lita stay in the Chibiverse? Lita has always been big on
family. Losing her parents in the planecrash at about age twelve caused
major problems. Lita became belligerent and only Serena and later the
rest of the Scouts broke through. Lita still always wanted a family.
Mary Anderson was starting to see Lita as a second daughter and Amy saw
Lita as a sister to a great extent. However, it wasn't like the
Chibiverse where Lita truly felt a part of the family. Lita would have
returned if the Chibiverse Lita were around. She would not take her life
from her. Without her, Lita was left with the difficult decision. So, we
gave her what she always wanted: a real family. Serena explained the
reasons quite well in the story itself. Of course, this does not mean
Lita will never be seen again. <evil grin>

We certainly have more stories planned. It is possible there will be an
ACS III. That won't occur until after several other stories we've
planned are completed. Our next story "Just Wishful Thinking" is
currently being written and will be released soon. We are also working
on the outline to a story which is unique and AFAIK never been attempted
by any SM fanfic author. So, keep watching our site for details.

We would like to thank our betareaders Mako-chan (Jessica Door) and
Seafire for their countless hours of dedication. They provided us with
great input and mistakes were found by them before parts ever got
released. Thanks to our fanartists who thought enough to share their
drawings. Thanks to the site owners we have posted this and other of our
stories. Finally, thanks to you the reader, especially those who took
time to sent us comments.

First, thank you to our betareaders and fanartists for their work on
this project. I thank the readers for taking some time to read this
story.

The idea of Amy and Lita having to get a "Funny Hat" came from a strange
source. I own a very, very, old copy of a PC game called "Planet's Edge"
by New World Computing. For my own reasons of irony, I decided to use a
similar idea.

Molly's sister, Jenny, is not an author created character. Instead, this
character was taken from the manga. The original Japanese name was Osaka
Naruru. She only appears in Chibi-Usa's Picture Diary in Volume 17.
She's twelve and interested in pawnshops. Given her limited existence in
the manga and complete absence from the anime, we had to speculate about
some things.

I don't have much more that Will hasn't already put very well. I hope
you keep reading our work because I know we have more stories planned.
