You know i get told a lot that I am an Akane hater. I disagree, I
think it depends on the story. In yours you have written an
Akane, who is very likable and human.
A lot of people write Akanes who are either an aloof goddess or
a bully. Yours is one I can sympathize with. NOT because of the
handicap but because she is overcoming it. She is working hard to
improve her life. She still has the temper but she is trying to
overcome it. That was always her biggest problem, IMHO.
I really liked the scenes in which they fight Kuno and Ranma has
the time to think and then apologizes. I feel you did a good job
of characterization here. Brings out the way both kids can
improve, by taking the time to think before speaking. It
accentuates the differences between this and the original manga.
Your style is reminiscent of Chris Jones's first chapter, which
only helps the story along.
I find this version of T. Kuno to be in perfect agreement with
the sheer stupidity that almost always marks his path through
life. He usually wants to do the right thing but rarely or never
recognizes it, when he finds it.
I also liked the Ice cream parlor bit. Both the Look and the
Aura. The manager was a nice touch too.
I will admit I am curious to see how fast Ranma can learn sign
language. Given how fast he can learn martial arts techniques, I
would expect him to be at least slightly fluent in a few hours.
He is certainly motivated enough.

Why shouldn't truth be stranger than fiction? Fiction, after all,
has to make sense.
