The fall of the Silver Millenium.
One thousand years of peace and beauty, brought down in a single
crashing instant.
Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom had successfully imprisoned
those who had destroyed her civilization. But the bonds would not hold
for eternity. So she raised her Silver Crystal one last time, and sent
the souls of her Senshi to be reborn when they were most needed, when
the evil would break free once more.
Exhausted, Serenity slumped to the ground. She felt her life
force leaving her, drained by the magics she had worked. Then, she
realized she had made a mistake. A very bad mistake.
Too Late
A Sailor Moon Fanfic
By: Aaron Nowack
"Usagi, wake up! You're going to be late!"
With a start, Tsukino Usagi threw off her bedsheets and
hurriedly
dressed, then stuffed her shoulder-length hair into a quick ponytail.
This completed, she ran downstairs and out the door, not stopping for
breakfast. She ran towards her school, ignoring the cat's yowls coming
from a nearby alley.
She raced into her classroom and into her desk moments before
the bell rang, thankfully. She didn't want to think about what would
happen if she was late again.
Naru hissed at Usagi from her seat to the left. "What got into
you? You were almost late again, and we both know what happens if
you're late!" Naru clenched her left fist, making it all too obvious
that the pinky finger of that hand was missing.
Usagi had no chance to reply, as Haruna-sensei entered the room.
As always, class begun with a brief prayer. After the students had
seated themselves once more, Haruna-sensei began her history lesson.
Usagi did her best to pay attention, but felt herself slipping. No, she
wouldn't fall asleep! She wouldn't...
Naru poked Usagi, shocking her into awareness once more. What
was with her today? She hadn't been this bad in years! She resumed
listening to the lecture.
"Now, the governmental structure was set up so that Parliament
would have to approve new taxes, but the Queen was able to..."
Usagi felt her awareness weaken, but one more managed to hold
off sleep.
"...Parliament wasn't happy with this, however, and..."
Usagi hated history.
"...the rebellion in what is now Scotland forced the Queen to
divide her forces..."
She really hated history.
"...and that was when Queen Beryl made her strike. Serenity's
Senshi were unable to protect her, and were struck down by the Seven
Great Youma..."
Particularly Silver Millenium history.

Beryl's four Generals bowed before their Queen. She smiled.
"The time draws near, my servants. Soon, our Great Leader will awaken
once more. But, I sense our enemies will come as well. One of you must
take charge of ensuring that our energy gathering operations proceed
apace."
Jadeite stepped forward. "I will, my Queen."
Beryl nodded. "Very good. One of you must also begin the
search for the Senshi and the Great Youma, so we may find them as they
awaken."
Nephrite bowed. "The stars know everything. I will seek them
out, my Queen."
Beryl regally nodded one more. "Good. Zoisite, Kunzite. One
of you must find the Silver Crystal, while the other must continue
operations against this 'Sailor V' in England."
Zoisite chuckled. "I will find the Silver Crystal."
Kunzite grinned. "And I will bring you Sailor V's head on a
pike."
Beryl smiled. "Very well. Our Great Leader will reward your
successes. We all know the price of failure."
The four Generals bowed once more in unison. "We will not fail
you, our Queen."
Beryl's smile faded. "See that you do not." After the four
vanished, she began to cackle maniacally. "Soon, Serenity, soon. Soon,
your failure will be complete." With that she summoned her other
General to her. She would have a special role to play in the coming
game. A very special role indeed.
The green-haired General waited patiently for her Queen to
finish cackling. As she had many times before, she wondered how she
could have ever opposed Queen Beryl, and even worse the goddess
Metallia. The General was looking forward to the chance to free her
sisters from Serenity's mind control.

Luna finally managed to get the bandage off her forehead, which
allowed her full use of her facilities once more. She had to find the
Senshi, and fast. If Queen Serenity was right, then the Dark Kingdom
would be starting operations in a matter of days. At least days from
when she had first woken up. For all she knew they could have started
while she had that cursed bandage on.
Time was of the essence. Who knew when the youma would start
their attacks? When she left the alley, Luna stopped dead from
surprise.
The first thing she noticed was the two youma walking down the
street. The Dark Kingdom must have already started attacking!
The second thing she noticed was the flood of dark energy that
covered the city. She looked around for the source.
The third thing she discovered was that source. Towering over
the city was a dark cathedral, apparently made of obsidian or some
similar material. The glyphs visible on the edifice to Luna's enhanced
eyesight, though invisible to normal vision at this distance, were all
too familiar. They read: "To you, Metallia, Queen of Darkness and
Chaos, the people of Tokyo dedicate this temple. Our souls and lives
are yours."
Luna reacted calmly and logically to these shocks. She fainted
dead away. She was already too late...

Author's Random Ramblings
This is an idea that got into my head and wouldn't go away until
I wrote it down. Basically what happened is that the Dark Kingdom broke
free ten years earlier than in canon. With no Senshi around to stop
them, they easily overwhelmed humanity's defenses and conquered the
world. By now, almost all resistance has been crushed, and most of
humankind has been forcibly converted to worship of Metallia.
Will I finish this? Maybe. At the moment, Shades of Gray has
priority. BTW, for those reading Shades, I would appreciate C&C on
Chapter 2, as I have yet to receive any.
