Disclaimer: You know the drill, why bother?
Blink.
Faster then my eyes can follow Ranma Saotome, love of my life, fights
against his opponent. Both are bleeding, both are bloody. Out of the corner
of my eye I see Ukyo's face, pale with.. horror? Shock? I can't tell and
really don't care at the moment. His opponent finally leaves an opening and
Ranma hits him with an open-handed strike that shatters his collarbone. With
a short breath that sounds like he's choaking the man falls to the floor,
dead or dying. My love lifts a fist to the air and lets out a shout that's
more of a roar then turns to look at me with that near-feral gaze which
makes my breath short and chest burn. I fly to him and crush my lips to his.
In my almost frenzied state I slice my tounge open along one of his teeth,
but neither of us part. The blood makes it more exciting in a way. I feel
his hands, one encircling my torso, the other at my ass and pressing my
croch firmly against him. If it weren't for Ukyo, I could probably get him
in bed tonight. Beneath us, the dying man has passed out. The smell of blood
in the air, the sweat gleaming off of Ranma's naked chest, and roaring
applause all combine to give me a kind of erotic high that no drug could
hope to produce. There's a cry of rage and despair and, still entangled in
Ranma's mouth, I can only look with my eyes. Ukyo is glowing a dark blue and
throws a mini-spatula at Ranma. With a tongue in somebody else's mouth, all
you can speak in are moans. As the glowing spatula speeds across the room my
only thought is that I'm more fucked up then even I thought. The danger
turns me on even more.
Clubbing : Prologue
People are always ask me how I know Ranma Saotome. My answer varries,
depending on just who it is asking. At first it was the others. Akane, Ukyo,
Shampoo. Then came the old folks, first Cologne then Happosai. The fiancees
didn't get much of an answer, and though I told the shrunken-duo the same
thing I got the feeling I said a lot more then I meant too. From what Ranma
says, they told their various progeny, and then everything went to hell.
Soon word had spread, via various loud threats against myself from Shampoo,
and I was always answering the question. I've actually had to explained the
story to the Tendo's, Ukyo, Father, and the Saotomes. But now, I usually
answer it simply. I met him at a club.
The first time I saw him was when I graduated middle-school and started my
first year at Furiken. Shina Inkyo, Freshmen, class of '98. I saw Ranma
everyday, the fact that he was a Junior notwithstanding. The first time I
saw him, he quite literally swept me off me feet.
It's funny how people discuss things, especially in Japan. We're fairly
status-quo kind of people, and are great at not making a scene. It's all a
matter of blending in, training which we recieve from birth on. Considering
this it's not very hard to understand that nobody outside of the Nerima
district belives, or sometimes even hears about, the chaos there. Say two
guys are great buddies, one from Nerima one not. Now the two go get drink
and get drunk, or pretend to, and under these circumstances alone can the
poor friend from Nerima gripe about the hell of living where he does. Let's
say he relates some of the truth about the place, namely martial artists
fighting in the streets and an old man running around stealing assorted
undergarmets, but aviods anything that's just too unbelivable like Jusenkyo
curses or multiple fiancees. Now the man's friend of course calls him a liar
in a friendly manner, and Mr.Nerima swears that it's the truth on any deity
that comes to mind. The friend, finally beliving at least a little either
gives his condolences or wishes that he could see some of it happening. Now
Mr.Friend goes off drinking with another of his buddies later that night
and, wanting to share the fantastic story, repeats what Mr.Nerima had told
him but greatly understates it because it's even less belivable coming from
somebody who doesn't live there. The process repeats itself like some
horrendous telephone game and eventually it's commonly known that the
teenagers in Nerima are fairly rowdy, and they have panty thieves.
This being the case neither Father nor I were prepaired for the sheer
insanity that goes on in Nerima. It made my first day at school a real
surprise, definitly one of the worst days of my life. After that first day
though, it wasn't so bad. Kind of like jumping into a cold pool after
soaking in the hot-tub. First the shock hits you, then there's that rush as
the shock wears off, then it starts to feel normal.
When I arrived at the gates I saw a guy wielding a bokken viscouly
attacking some other guy who wasn't in a school uniform. I was a little
surprised, but wasn't going to do anything to save the guy. Secret powers
are supposed to be kept just that. Anyhow, the un-uniformed guy is dodging
everything bokken-boy can launch at him. Then they really went at it. The
bokken turned a bright white and started moving at a really incredible rate,
destroying the school wall, the fountain, trees, anything that got in its
way. This was, as I found out later, Kuno and Ranma. Still paralyzed by the
fight I didn't even think to move as Ranma dodged out of the way, ending up
right in front of me. Ranma did though. Eyes wide open he picked me up and
leapt out of harm's way. He can be a real sweetheart like that. Setting me
down on the wall he went back to fighting with Kuno and ended up breaking
the sword. Just how I don't recall, though I think he may have punched it
from the side. On a side note, Kuno didn't attack until Ranma had gotten me
out of the way.
Later that day I was saved, once again, by Ranma as Shampoo came crashing
through the school wall (Special deliver for airen! More important then
stupid wall.) and nearly covered me with hefty cement bricks. Of course if
he hadn't shown up I could have probably handled it myself. But it was still
nice. After a few more 'normal' incidents like a horde of girls chasing down
an old man and the like, a very exhausted me went home. Father had a couple
surprises as well, but his were less dangerous and involved a Panda fighting
a girl with a giant spatula and a boy who needed to be told which way left
was three times before wandering off the wrong direction and destroying
several walls in the process. No wonder insurance had cost us so much.
The next several days passed without anything quite like the first day,
though I did see Ranma at least once everyday. Usually this once was at the
beginning where he was fighting the principal so as to not be late, or
fighting Kuno, or crashing into the ground from who knows where. One of
those days he was fighting somebody with a bandanna, Ryoga of course, and I
realized I was getting a tinsy crush on him. I'm the first to agree with the
fact that falling in love with somebody just because they're incredibly
strong and good looking and popular and has a cute pig-tail is plain
stupid... but what's wrong with just a crush? Watching the fight, my breath
quickened as he pulled of a series of intricate moves and ended up sending
Ryoga through the wall. Looking back on it, Ryoga is pretty good looking too
but I only had, and have, eyes for Ranma. I guess the little hearts were
blinking like neon signs in my eyes because one girl, nudging the other,
pointed at me. Both sighed and shook their heads, then walked away
whispering about new students. The girl next to me, not being a snide little
bitch, kindly took a moment to talk to me.
"I wouldn't." Her voice was friendly and playful.
"Wouldn't what?" Not realizing that I was being patheticly obvious about my
little crush, I was hoenstly confused.
"Ranma." She gestured towards Ranma, who had gone into a yelling match with
Ryoga. "It's like window shopping, look only."
"Oh." My face turned beet red. "That obvious?"
She giggled and nodded.
"He already has a girlfriend?" It was obvious really. All really good
looking males have girlfriends. But one can always hope.
"Nope, not a one. Just fiancees."
I must have looked confused.
"Yup! It's true! See Akane over there, the one hitting Ranma? That's one of
them." She dropped her voice to a conspirital whisper. "She's gonna be the
one to marry him, they've been through soooo many romantic experiences." She
sighed and looked like she was ready to explain those experiences when
another girl ran up.
"Yuka! We gotta get to class! Oh, sorry." She bowed apolgetically to me,
then took another look. "You're new here aren't you?"
"Yes, I just moved to Nerima this year."
Yuka started up again. "And I was just telling her about Akane and Ranma! I
was getting to the good part!" She sighed, probably feeling the oppertunity
to play storyteller slipping through her grasp. "I know! There's an
ice-cream parlor about a block down from the school, just make a left when
you see the hotel sign. You can't miss it. We'll go there and I'll tell you
everything!"
"But.. okay." Sayori sighed not seeming to like the idea of hanging out
with underclassmen. "We gotta get going now. Nice meeting you!" She waved to
me and dragged Yuka off to their next class.
Chocolate mint parfate, happy smile, venta sized carmel frappicanio from
Starbucks. It must be the third of the month. It was nearly disgraceful,
carmel frappicino. Not quite hip, jive, new age, or any other of the various
motifs Starbucks laid claim to. Car-mel.
"Hiroshi got paid again!" Yuka delved into her parfait with glee.
Hiroshi worked at Dr.Tofu's office as a part janitor part
answering-machine. He replaced the panda, Ranma's father, who had found a
new job entertaining small children. I pause to consider how easily these
thoughts come to mind. It seems natural now. Ranma was near amphibic in
actions, constantly being soaked with hot or cold water. It had taken a
total of three days for his change to become rountine. Nothing could shock
me after that.
"Hey, gimmie a little..." Sayori reached out with a spoon, but was foiled
as Yuka pulled it away from her, in the process shoving it nearly in my
face. I helped myself to a spoonful.
"Hey!" Yuka glared and went to finishing it off with a vigor.
"Greedy." I mumbled, spoon sticking out of my mouth.
I'd been living in Nerima for several months now. During this time I'd
become surprisingly good friends with Yuka and Sayori, even though the
latter was a bitch from time to time. Akane had recently joined the school
drama club and I was unoffically voted in to fill the newly formed void.
Being a replacement friend isn't so bad, you eventually overide memories of
the original.
"God damnit P-chan! You're a dead man!" Ranma was a black-red blur steaking
past the window. Ranma was a stud. I made the observation aloud.
"Still like him?" Sayuri sounded surprised.
"Why wouldn't I?"
She bit her bottom lip. It annoyed me whenever she did that. "Well, I mean
we all still like him. But after a while, it's like you don't want him."
"Want him?"
"You know... want him..." She blushed. "It's just," she paused, "the way he
acts and what he does, they're like opposites. Okay, he's rock hard right?
Martial artist, better then everybody and knows it, undisputed champion.
He's got more ego then anybody I've ever known, and he's not the least bit
self conscious about bragging. Guys like him are usually dating like there's
no tomorrow. Changing girls every week, getting them in bed then going for
another, that kind of thing. But he's not. He's so not that way that it's a
turn off. He just doesn't seem to care about sex, or even know it exists!
I've never seen him give a girl a second glance, no matter how much she's
showing or trying to get his attention." She sighed. "It's like trying to
give a two year old a hard-on."
"SAYURI!" Yuka had been steadily turning red, the final comment making me
think she'd broken a blood vessel or eight.
"Well it's true!"
I thought about it for a minute.
Ranma knew I existed now, I'd become, if not a friend, then an aquantince
to him over the months. We'd spoken and I even had dinner with him and
Akane. And, of course, I was spying on him daily.
"Maybe you're just trying it the wrong way." I sat up, excited.
I was one of the few females Akane let near Ranma without batting him
across the school yard (or whatever the current surrounding happened to be).
I assume this was because I hadn't openly tried to hit on Ranma and I was an
underclassmen.
"Hmm?" Sayuri looked at me curiously, Yuka was still acting shocked. She
was a lot less innocent then she let on, but most people like that are.
"Think about it, what does he live for? Martial arts, okay fine. Now what
does that lead to? Fighting, and lots of it. If you do something all your
life, and keep at it non-stop that's gotta mean you find it exciting right?"
I leaned forward, interested if either of them could guess where I was
leading. Yuka's eyes widened slightly then quickly returned to their
bewildered look. Even if I didn't read her mind, it was obvious. Her breath
quickened ever so slightly and she stiffened in her seat. Naughty girl. "Say
somebody is a composer or something, wouldn't a particularly beautiful piece
of music put them in a lovey-dovey mood? Or at least make them more
susceptable to one?"
Whatever the case was, my abilty to actually speak to him was an advantage
that none of his fiancees, save Akane, had. I planned to abuse that
advantage throughly.
Sayuri bit her damn lip again. That really bugged me. "Wait.." She was
slowly puzzeling it out.
I leaned even closer, the other two doing the same. Our heads were nearly
touching over the table. "Fighting and violence go together. If fighting
excites Ranma, then so does violence. If violence excites Ranma normally,
what if you did it, " I paused, savoring the revelation. "sexually?" Even my
face turned red as I said it.
"You mean like S&M?" Sayori was also blushing fericly, but was determined
to hold out till we solved the mystery. Before I could answer Yuka spoke up.
"No, not pain. Ranma doesn't seem into that, I think Shina's right. It's
just violence.. you know, rough stuff." Her voice was a bit husky. Now both
the sometimes-bitch and I were looking at Yuka and carefully listening. I
had just come up with the idea, I didn't have many (any) ideas on how you
could have sexual violence.
I glanced through Yuka's mind. It was a slideshow.
Slide one. Hiroshi surprising Yuka behind the school building.
Slide two. Feigned surprise, Yuka acts like she's running away.
Slide three. Hiroshi pins her against the wall.
Slide four. Hiroshi stands back, worried he's hurt her.
Slide five. Yuka tackiling Hiroshi, full scale making-out ensues.
"It's like.." Yuka's face was still red and she was looking down at the
table. Genuinly embarresed this time. "Like fighting with kisses, to see who
kisses who harder. Like forcing at each other for the exact same thing."
Truth be told, until I moved to Nerima it was rare for me to pry into
somebody's mind. As such, I'm not sure if Yuka is a nymphomanic (if such a
condition really exists.. I have my doubts) or it's a normal thing for her
and Hiroshi to go at it so often. In either case Hiroshi seems to be a
pretty happy guy.
We were all silent, considering and daydreaming.
Sayori bit her lip. You'd think it'd turn bloody by now.
"I think I understand, but wouldn't that hurt? Ranma's really strong."
"Only one way to really know." They stared at me.
Yuka spoke first. "You mean you're going to try?"
"If you kiss Ranma, you would be killed. Both Akane and Ukyo would bash
you, and Shampoo would probably kill you!" Sayuri seemed overly concerned
for me. That was nice of her.
"I wasn't thinking about actually doing it. I just meant nobody would know
until they tried." Now I was though. In fact now I had a very good idea on
how to get Ranma's attention on a whole different level.
I've looped my arms around Ranma's neck, bringing my face and his close
together. He supports my weight easily, unconsciously. If he had a choice he
would probably fall over, but he doesn't. He has a deer caught in headlights
thing going on. Utterly shocked that this little freshmen girl would be so
foreward. Then again, I've been told he reacts the exact same way with any
girl in close contact situations. I tilt my head a bit and start to lean in
towards him.
"A bet?" He had asked.
I'm wearing a very light jasmine perfume and my breath should smell like
the tangerine I had just eaten. It was a calculated move, mint always seemed
like a rather repulsive smell and flavor for intimate moments. All of this
seems to have gone to waste considering his current prayalisis.
Nevertheless, I continue leaning into him and my lips make the faintest
contact with his.
I nodded at him. "Yuka bet me a whole month of ice-cream on it, so I really
wanna win."
It becomes a full fledged kiss, and still Ranma is frozen in shock. I still
find it exciting though, almost like kissing a god.
"Well sure, I guess." He shrugged his shoulders. "What d'ya want me to do?"
And that was how this whole senario came to be.
Determined to get some kind of a rise out of him, I try something I'd
picked up from spying on Yuka. Being utterly inept I screw it up and hit his
teeth with my tounge. But suddenly, he comes to life. A swift movment has me
held in the air a foot away from his body but eye level. My hands rest
lightly on his shoulders.
"What was that?" He sounds a bit winded, a bit nervous, and a bit (or at
least I always hoped) excited.
"Well you said you'd help with the bet..." I gave him my best pouting look.
Ranma set me down and sighed. "Just what I need, another Nabiki."
"Who?" I didn't, at this time, know of Akane's older sister.
"Nevermind." He scratched the back of his head. "Look, I ain't angry at you
or anything but you can't do stuff like that. It's dangerous for both of
us." He looked around nervously.
"The first time you kissed me," He told me years later, "I was more happy
then not about it. The only time I'd been kissed before that was by a guy,
so being kissed by a girl seemed a lot better. The only problem was that I
just knew Akane was watching."
My causual and brave front was rapidly falling, and feeling like an excited
little girl I left the scene to call up Sayuri. Although a quasi-bitch, as I
belive I've mentioned, she was closer friends with me then Akane at the
moment. Even if she wasn't I probably would have taken the risk and told
somebody, after all I'd kissed RANMA.

Ah, the author commentary returns. Haven't done this in a bit.. anyhow, for
those of you who have read the book Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (Which I
suggest you do if you haven't) you'll notice some extreme similarities and
often blantently stolen phrases during this whole thing. I do this for a
reason. After thinking up the whole plot for this series (assuming I
continue it past it's first actual chapter) I realized that it was very
Fight Club-esque in it's own way. Realizing this, I flipped through Fight
Club again attempting to see just how much I'd subconsciously ripped off
from the book and found it wasn't any of the plot points I'd taken, just the
whole general atmosphere. This in mind, I realized I'd never tried a first
person point of view story (save 'consequences' which was just a little junk
fic I threw together while bored) and that Palahniuk's style was very, very
cool. So I'm attempting to, in some ways, emulate it.
I realize that the prologue provides very little insight as to what the
story is actually about (save the opening phrase) but I really needed to
introduce the character so it seemed as good a place as any. Of course that
may not be much of an attention grabber, but if you made it this far then I
can assume it at least kind of did it's job. I'll be releasing the actual
first chapter sometime next week and I'll see where it goes from there.
Anybody who can offer up some C&C is, as always, welcome to write.
