how about Tomboy's minds. ^_^
Actually, a Shadow / Ranma x-over would work (IMHO) better as a
mostly-serious tale of espionage set in pre-WWII New York City. Heck, you
could even use the MacGuffin from the Alec Baldwin movie. (Y'know, Khan gets
his Yellow-Peril-y claws on an atomic bomb, blackmails the League of
Nations, etc.) With the following differences.
In the movie, it is implied that Khan killed the Tulpa, right? So an
ally of his goes to avenge his death / rescue the Bronzium / keep the
location of the Bronzium mine secret, etc. Her name? Young Cologne of the
Joketsuzoku, an exotic beauty and mistress of the martial arts.
Picture it: you've got all your classic pulpy elements; danger,
violence, sexual tension (between Cologne-chan and the Shadow, plus a
possible triangle once you involve Margo Lane) as well as fun "mysteries of
the orient" by the dozen to confound our intrepid hero.
Or, if you really wanted to put a Ranma spin on it, as opposed to
Shadow-y, instead of Khan, it's the King of the Musk who seeks global
domination. (I dunno, Herb's grandfather? Father? Whichever) Or maybe he
intends to capture the atom bomb and use it to defend China against Japanese
aggression, thus allowing us to use a Japanese spy to aid The Shadow in
preventing the theft, only for him to try and steal the weapon himself.
Maybe a young Happosai as the spy, or a Saotome or Tendo, or maybe even a
Kuno or a Sarugakure. You can still bring in Young Cologne as the exotic
Asian beauty who opposes the Musk-King's plans, for reasons of her own.
Anyway, another case of a fic I'd love to read, but haven't the time to
write. If somebody bites, count me in as a pre-reader!!!
