Chapter 1
Second Chances

The battle was not going well for Ranma Saotome, master of the anything goes
school of martial arts, this is his toughest and hardest battle up to date.
This time everything was on the line his family and friends are depending on
him to save them. Ryoga, Mousse, Kuno, and Happosai were too injured to help
and Cologne and the girls were attending to their wounds.
"DIE INSECT!" screamed Saffron, the so call Phoenix god, "You dare think that
you, a mere human, can fight a god?" he roared and now was shooting a lot of
fireballs at
Ranma. "DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!" he yelled over and over again.
"Aw, shaddup would ya!"said Ranma in replied. Ranma have
been fighting Saffron for over an hour now and he is beginning to tire out.
"Can't lose now," he thought. He been throwing everything he had at Saffron
but it wasn't enough. He decided to try one of his deadliest attacks "Moku
Takabisha perfect!"
The yellow chi hit Saffron right in the chest. Although the blast hurt
Saffron , he was able to shrug it off . That's when saffron blasted a very,
very
large fireball at Ranma. Ranma manage to dodge it in time but he realized
too late that behind him were his family and friends. He watch in horror as
the fireball headed straight for them, his feet were already moving but the
feeling in his guts told him he would not make it in time to save them. Time
stood still
as the fireball fell upon them, he watched as Cologne tried a desperate Hyryu
Shoten Ha at the fireball but she did not have the strength to follow
through. He watched helplessly as Akane held an unconscious Ryoga hand. He
watch as
Shampoo gave Mousse a final kiss and he watched as his mother and father,
along
with the rest of the Tendo's and Happosai look on helplessly as the fireball
headed toward them. Then the fireball hit them. It incinerated them and a
part of
the mountain.
Rage consumed Ranma like a wild fire. He could hear Saffron in the
background taunting him telling him to get up and fight. He turned around to
face Saffron with such burning hatred in his eyes that it caused Saffron to
give pause, and with a
scream of rage he launch himself at Saffron. He jumped into the air where
Saffron was hovering, seeing this Saffron launched a fireball once again only
to see Ranma launch his Hyryu Shoten Ha at it and use the wind current to
propel himself higher and faster at saffron. Saffron turn to fly out of
the way but Ranma was too fast and he latched onto saffron back like white on
rice.
"How about we even the odds Saffy-chan" he said. And with that he took a hold
of both of saffron wings and pull on it with his feet planted on saffron back
as leverage.
He pulled and pulled until suddenly he heard Saffron cry out in pain and then
both of them fell. Ranma landed gracefully on his feet while Saffron
fell with a "thud". He then noticed something in his hand and realized that he
was holding onto the two wings that he'd just acquired from Saffron ,so he
threw them away. Saffron punishment was just beginning. He walked up to
Saffron.
"How that feel Saffy-chan? Did it hurt?" To Ranma's surprise Saffron jumped
to his feet all of a sudden and planted his claws into Ranma chest. Ranma
coughed up blood as Saffron's' claws sank in deeper and deeper into his chest
and closer
and closer to his heart.
"Looks like you'll be joining your family soon Saotome, said hi to them in
the afterlife for me." Said Saffron then he remembered something "Here let me
show you a neat trick. Watch my back closely, this is a once in a lifetime
opportunity." And to Ranma surprise, a pair of wings grew out of saffron
back. "Ta-da" said Saffron. With that, Saffron started to laugh uproariously,
his laugher sounding cruel as he started to wriggle his finger and hand to
get it further into Ranma chest. Ranma's vision started to blur and he felt
lightheaded He knew he would be dead soon, but not before he avenged them. "I
sure will" he replied which cause saffron to stop and stared at Ranma , "but
why don't you go first and tell them I coming, HYRYU SHOTEN HA!" With that
he punched a hole in Saffron's stomach and unleashed the deadly winds right
inside of Saffron's body, which begin to rip him apart from the inside out.
Saffron screamed out in intense pain as he felt himself being torn to shreds
from the inside out and suddenly he was consume in flames, "Too bad for you",
he said "I'll be reincarnated while you will die here, ha ha ha, your victory
will turn bitter, ha ha ha!" Then Saffron turned into a giant phoenix in
front of Ranma eyes. As the giant fire bird begin to fly upward Ranma
commented, "Who said I was done asshole, HY RYU HYOTOPPA!" and with that
Ranma created a whirlwind as strong as a natural tornado and hit the flying
firebird as it was rising up . Like a wind blowing out a candle the
tornado-like force of the Hyryu Hyotoppa snuff out the fire of the legendary
phoenix.
Finally the battle was over but Ranma didn't feel like a victor, he was
tired and in a lot of pain. All of his friends and family were dead and he
himself was dying from the wound inflicted upon him by saffron. He slump down
to what was left of the ground and try take deep breath but that simple act
was
becoming hard for him to do too. Finally he felt a comforting darkness come
over him and just as he thought he was going to die , he felt a person's
shadow covering him. He looked up to see an exotic looking woman with strange
markings on her face, dressed in such a way to leave little to the
imagination, and hair as white as pure snow.
"Man, I guess I am dead" he said to himself "So are you here to take me to
Heaven or Hell?" he asked her.
"The name is Urd, Goddess of the past and of love and I am not here to escort
you anywhere, that's Death's job" she said.
Ranma was confused.
" Look Ranma, I don't have much time here. Nobody in heaven know that I am
missing, so I am gonna be in a lot of trouble if they find out that I am
here." she said
" Listen very closely, what would you said if I can bring back all of your
friends and family?"
That got Ranma attention "How?"
" I told you I am the Goddess of the past after all, but I can only do it for
a price." She told him.
"You want my soul?" he asked afraid that this beautiful woman was going to
take him to hell after all.
"WHAT?!" she said , shock that Ranma thought she would take his soul "WHAT
DO YOU THINK I AM? A DEMON!" She yelled at him "I told you I'm a Goddess!"
After nearly being blown away by her scream and mentally reminding himself to
never ever get on her bad side he asked her "Then uh, what do you want?"
"I didn't said I wanted anything" she said, " I told you there was going to
be a price."
"Oh, heh, heh, sorry" he said embarrassed "so, what's the price?" then he
noticed something else. He should have been dead by now with all the blood
loss "and how come I ain't dead?"
" Well I stop your blood loss, but you will die eventually, now listen I can
change back time, make it so that none of this happen and where you will grow
up with
a normal life and never get into any of this." she told him.
" Let me guess the price is that I never remember anything about this past
life right?" he asked.
" Wrong." She told him " You yourself right now will still live with all the
memories of this life, it your alternate self and your family that going to
get to lived a
peaceful life, a life you never got to lived." she told him.
" Then where will I be?" he asked.
" The problem is, there simply can't be two of you running around in a
reality, Kami-sama notice things like that. So what I will do is put you
in a different reality where you never existed. The only problem is that
you will never get to return here." She said with a noted of finality in her
voice.
Ranma debated. If he agreed they'll be alive, but then he won't be able to
see them again. But they'll be alive his brain told him, they'll be alive and
none of
this stupid fianc�e mess will ever happen again. Annnnd... his brain presses
on. Your mother will be alive also and with that he made his decision.
"Do it "he said to her.
With that the symbol on her face started to glow and she started to chant
words not understandable to human ears.
"WAIT!" Ranma called out "Why are you helping me, not that I am complaining
but people never wanted to help me before."
She smile at that "Because just this once I want to see you win" she said "
And beside, it will really piss off Fate and Destiny." and then complete her
chanting.
The world turn white and reversed, back before the battle with Saffron, back
before the battle with Herb, before the battle with Taro, before he
met the Tendo's and keep going back until that faithful day where Genma
tricked Ranma into hand painting on the seppuku contract.
11 years ago....
"Ranma my boy you wanna do something fun?" he ask his little son ,his pride
and joy, who would one day surpass him in the art.
"Hai papa", said Chibi-Ranma innocently, unaware of his faith.
"Well my boy lets hand paint, how does that sound?" he said handing him some
paint and the seppuku contract "just paint it right here" he said pointing
at the
dotted line.
"Yay papa" and was about to paint, when Nodoka appear out of no where and pick
chibi- ranma up into her arms.
"Well what do you have here son?" Nodoka ask her pride and joy.
"Papa let me finger paint mama" and handed the paper to her and watch in
fascination as his mother's face became a bright cherry red.
"Excuse me son" she said as she kiss him and put him down "Why don't you go
out into the yard and play, OK dear?"
"Hai!!" he said happy to oblige to his mother "Bye, bye mom" and with that
scamper off to the yard.
Genma could actually feel the room get colder. " Now, now Nodoka, the boy
will thank me for this and so will you someday." But Nodoka didn't reply,
which made Genma even more nervous.
Out in the yard...
Chibi-Ranma cocked his head to the said as the sound of agony came form his
house. Chibi-Ranma was about to investigate until something else caught his
attention. It was a kitten. "Here kitty" and proceed to play "chase" with the
kitten.
In the house...
A beaten and batter Genma was laying in the living room. If one were to look
closely at Genma's wounds they would see little marks that looked like those
made by a katana. Genma had never been so afraid in life. Not even the master
inspired this
much fear in him which his wife was projecting into him. He would have
never thought a Sakaba could do so much damage.
"Now DEAR, if you ever try that again I won't be using the blunted edge of
the Sakaba on you, got it?" Nodoka ask as she gave him a pricing glare.
Genma nodded his head shakily "I will never try to take Ranma again, that, I
swear on my honor" he said. Contrary to what most people believed, Genma did
have some honor.
"Good, now I will go and cook dinner" and with that she sheathed her Sakaba
back in place and put it back in the living room to display. After all ,it
not like she used it often even though she is one of the master and potential
successor of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.
And so everything was avoided, Ranma ended up being Ukyo friend anyway but
knew she was girl this time. They will meet shampoo but she will not pursue
him
as relentlessly as before and Cologne does not want to mess with a master
of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. They will meet the Tendo's but no curse this time and
Akane will have feelings for Ranma, while Ranma may like her, he likes Ukyo
and
Shampoo more, mainly because Akane scared the hell outta him on his first day
of Furinken High when she beat up all of those boys. Ryoga will be Ranma best
friend but a rival. He is also better then Ranma in the arts, Ranma on the
other hand will be
more intelligence's and more interested in girls. All in all, he will have a
life where he will not have to fight for survival most of the time.
Outside the time stream�
"Now your turn, are you ready Ranma?" asked Urd.
After seeing his friends and family safe and at peace, he nodded to Urd. He
can't help but feel jealous of the other Ranma life, but he's happy for him
anyway.
"Here we go." said Urd, A blinding white light engulfed Ranma and then he
disappeared.
"Boy I feel good," said Urd, just as lighting struck near her. On the ground
were the words Urd dreaded and feared. In bold letters the words said " IN MY
OFFICE, NOW". Oh well, she thought, time to face the music. And in a flash
disappeared and reappeared in Kami-sama office.
"URD WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING?" boomed Kami-sama's voice.
"w-w-we-well t-that is to say th-th-that we-well"
"I WANT AN ANSWER NOW!" boomed Kami-sama.
"Ididntthinkitwasfairtoranmasir" said Urd.
"SLOWLY THIS TIME DAUGHTER" said Kami-sama
"I didn't think it was fair to Ranma sir", said Urd in a soft voice. "After
everything he went through he deserved more then death for his reward sir."
"I SEE." Kami-sama mused "AND I APPROVE", said Kami-sama.
Urd was feeling very relived now.
"BUT THAT STILL DOESN'T EXCUSE YOU FROM TAMPERING WITH THE ULTIMATE FORCE TO
DO SO.YOUR PUNISHMENT IS A REVOKED OF YOUR POWERS FOR THREE MONTHS." Said
Kami-sama .
And with that Urd was back on earth. Well things could have gone worst she
thought but the thought without her powers for three months was too much for
her so she fainted.
In another reality...
"Wait for me Recca-nichan" yelled Ranko from the bathroom.
"No way, my hime and the others are waiting for me," yelled back Recca to his
sister. Even though he found out that Nodoka was not his real mother and that
he was from 400 years in the past ,it still haven't change their relation-
ship as brother and sister. Even after the Kurei incident they were still
close, now that they also found out that Ranko was Sailor Sun from the silver
Millennia.
Right now they were getting ready to go to a family outing at Rei' hino temple
and all of their friends were invited.
"You baka! I gonna tell both of your mom that you left me behind and that I
got assault on the way there." That stopped Recca in his track.
"You wouldn't dare," he said to her. He loves her as much as any brother
would a sister but what a pain.
"Try me" she repiled with a smirk on her face.
"Oh? Well then I just tell your precious Kagami-chan that you dream about him
at
night." Said Recca with a smirk "Oh Kagami-chan you're my hero, my knight in
shinning armor, the man of my dreams" said Recca with a bad imitation of
Ranko voice.
Ranko was blushing beet red, all she remember was that Mikagami was her
husband
in the silver millennia. "Please just wait, please?" she gave him the puppy
dog eyes. Recca can never stand up to that.
"Oh all right but that playing dirty with the puppy dogs eyes," said Recca in
defeat " I thought we agreed for you not to use that anymore" said Recca.
"Oh well I lied nichan" said Ranko "now I'll be done in 10 more min" and walk
back to the bathroom.
"Why me?" he ask no one in particular.
30 min later at the shrine....
"Hi everybody, we're here," said Ranko.
"Yo" said Recca.
"Recca chan I thought I told you to get here early" said Nodoka and Kage
Houshin, Recca biological mother at once. Recca sweat dropped at the errie
way they said it in union.
"But, but, but Ranko held me up" answer Recca lamely "isn't that right
Ranko?" he turns to address nothing but air. He then saw her with the rest of
her friend the scout the inner and the outers.
"Recca chan I raised you better then to lied to your mother." said Nodoka.
Recca just shrug's his shoulder in defeat.
"Recca kun there your are" said a cheery voice that can only belong to his
hime. He turn around to see her with Fuko, Kagami , Domon, Ganbo and that brat
that always hug on his hime.
"Hime! Oh and hello to guys" said Recca
"Hello he said " said Fuko "well we're here, were the party?" ask Fuko. Recca
points around him, "What? But there are mostly girls here and I thought there
will be cute guys to ,right Domon?" she didn't get an answer "Domon?" she turn
around only to see him flirt to some girl with long blue hair in a nice
picnic dress. "She's beautiful," Fuko thought, then she saw only red. "Who are
you?!" she snapped.
"Akane Tendo and you?" asked Akane.
"You can call me Fuko" she replied haughtily " now why are you flirting with
Domon you hussy?" she said.
Akane saw red and was about to lash out when Ryoga appear and stop her.
"I'll sorry" said Ryoga "but she was not flirting with him, she was just
asking if he took martial arts"
"And who the hell are you?" Fuko snapped.
"I'm her fiancee" replied Ryoga .
That had shutted Fuko up. "Um, sorry about that..um truce?" she offer Akane
her hand.
"Truce" said Akane.
Then they began small talk, and soon everybody was having a great time.
"Hey Ranko" said Minako "snapped out of it, stop day dreaming about Mikagami"
"I was not!" she replied indignantly " I was just concentrating is all"
"Surrrrree" said Usagi "just concentrating about what to wear at your wedding
that all" Usagi tease as the other scouts laugh.
"Seriously guys I feel like something big about to happen" said Ranko "I
know I promise you guys a good time, especially you Usagi after what happen."
Usagi, came here for a good time and to take her mind off about Mamoru.
"Don't worry about it ranko what can possibly go wrong? Everything will turn
out fine you see" Usagi said.
Ranko looked around, the Tendo's and the Kounji's were here having a great
time,
her brother and her friends were laughing and joking too ,yet she can't shake
the feeling something big gonna happen. She have to talk with her brother,
she when across the yard and quickly found him. "Recca-nichan, Kagami-san"
she said in greetings.
"Hey Ranko what up, need me to get you out of trouble?" ask Recca.
"Hello Ranko-san how are you doing?" said Mikagami politely.
Ranko blush at that but told herself to remain calm, she need to ask Recca
something she told herself. "Um, Recca do you happen to feel if something
gonna happen?" ask Ranko.
"You too?" ask Recca "My Dragons been acting up, just a while ago it feel
like they are uneasy about something." Said Recca.
"I too feel something is coming" add Mikagami.
"Hey guys what this about feeling something wrong," Fuko asked but she said it
a little to loudly, By now most of the conversation stop to listen to Recca
and Ranko.
"Hey everyone just enjoy the picnic nothing gonna happen" said Ranko
cheerily.
"That right everyone it not like a youma or kurei coming" said Recca cheerily
also.
Everyone sweat dropped. Nobody could forget about the Kurei and Youma
incident they all had recently. Seeing that everything was fine they when
back to their conversation. That when a bright like formed in the air.
Something drop out with a loud scream and
crash into their food table. Everyone stared for a moment then everyone
rushes for the table. There they saw a boy struggling to get up.
Mikagami, always one to kick ass first and ask question later, took out his
Esui and charge the intruder. Much to everyone shock.
One minute ago...
Ranma was feeling vertigo, he just saw how his other life turn out and then
the goddess Urd sent him here in this vortex. It was annoyingly bright. Then
seeing nothing to do he reflected where he was gonna be sent to. He hope that
it
it wasn't as complicating like his last life. Then his journey was over. He
fell out
somewhere and the first thing he saw was a Table?. He tries to
flip out of the way but can't do it in time so he scream and crash into the
table. He was tangle in all this wood and food. He finally got free and sat
up to a sea of eyes. He then look around at first and was about to ask what
they where staring at when he REALLY took a good look around. He saw the
Tendo's ok I can handle that, he saw the Ukyo and Royga ok, no too bad then
he saw his mom and was about to cry until he spotted the person next to her.
It was his female half. His battle senses flare and warn him of an attack. He
then saw a guy with blue hair charging at him, carrying a weird sword. Never
one to turn down a challenge, he got up to meet his opponent. He rushes
forward only to trip over a piece of wood and hit his head against a table
with a "thud".
"Oh, fuck." Was the last thing Ranma said before passing out.
