Special thanks to the author of 'The Devil and Miss Mihoshi' for
managing to find a way to connect Tenchi Muyo and 'The Devil Went Down to
Georgia' and get me thinking about them at the same time... heh. (Now if I
could just think of your name, but I have a very bad memory... :op)
***
The Devil went down to Japan, he was looking for a soul to steal. He
was in a bind, he was way behind, he was lookin to make a deal.
(Scene of the Devil stepping out of a portal near an all too familiar lake,
and looking around.)
And he came across a young man drawin on a pencil pad and sketchin it
hot, and the Devil jumped up on a Camellia stump and said, 'Boy let me tell
you what!'
(He looks around and sees Tenchi with his sketch pad, frowning down at it as
if the image there isn't quite what he'd had in mind. Grinning, the Devil
believes he's found an easy mark.)
'I guess you didn't know it, but I'm an artist too, and if you care to
take a dare, I'll make a deal with you. Now you draw pretty good pictures
boy, but give the Devil his due, I'll bet a pencil of gold against your soul
to think I'm better than you.'
(The Devil pulls a golden pencil out of his pocket, and makes sure that
Tenchi gets a good look at it, smirking all the while.
The boy said, 'Well my name's Tenchi, and it might be a sin, but I'll
take that bet, your gonna regret, cause I'm the best that's ever been.'
(Tenchi nods, and signs the parchment that the Devil offers him. As his
hand comes away from the parchment, his lettering suddenly bursts into
flame, and then settles down to be a crimson the color of blood. Tenchi
swallows, and the Devil smiles evilly.)
Tenchi, you sharpen up your pencil and draw those girls out hard, cause
hell's broke loose in Japan and the Devil deals the cards, and if you win
you get this shiny pencil made of gold, but if you lose the Devil gets your
soul...
(The devil rolls up the parchment, smiling again, and conjures up two
easels, each with a large, empty canvas resting on it.)
The Devil stepped toward an easel, and said, 'I'll start this show,'
and fire flew from his fingertips as he sharpened up his pencil, and he drew
the point across the canvas there and it made an evil line, and then a band
of possessed pencils jumped in and it looked something like this:
(Working together, the Devil and the pencils create a scene of several
beautiful, naked women against a backdrop of flames, sweat glistening on
their skin as they writhe over each other in some strange sort of sexual
dance. The more he draws, the more life like the image seems, until
suddenly, as he finishes, they do start moving, the flames dancing ever
higher as though to match their rising desires. Tenchi starts to sweat, and
the Devil turns to him, smirking.)
When the devil finished, Tenchi said, 'Well you're pretty good old son.
But sit down on that stump right there while I show you how it's done!'
(Tenchi's gaze firms, and then he turns toward the canvas, pressing the
pencil down. He quickly starts to draw out a familiar scene, the day after
he and the rest of the girls came back from saving his mother; Tenchi
looking like he'd rather be anywhere else then in between Ryoko and Ayeka,
who seemed more interested at scowling at each other then smiling for the
camera, Kiyone and Mihoshi standing behind them, little Sasami holding
Ryo-Ohki, and Washu grinning. The more the picture develops, the less and
less confident the Devil looks, until he starts to sweat, Tenchi not even
half done with the sketch yet.)
The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat, and he
laid that golden pencil on the ground at Tenchi's feet. Tenchi said, 'Devil
just come on back if you ever wanna try again, I dun told you once, you son
of a bitch, I'm the best that's ever been!'
(The Devil bows low before Tenchi, eyes enraged, as the parchment Tenchi
signed bursts into flames. He puts down the pencil, and then backs away as
Tenchi turns his back on him, and goes back to drawing the picture.
Seemingly weakened, the Devil screams in rage, and then vanishes in a pillar
of flame that takes his drawing with it as Tenchi finishes his picture.
