[NGE/Ranma] A Couple of Angels

This piece is almost completely free of all of those itty-bitty
problems of misspelling, bad grammar and lack of line wrap. It's
a first chapter as well, so i'll have to reserve my comments as
to plot construction and development.
I hope to post chapter 2 before Sunday, so you won't have to wait too
long before making your opinion on that, I guess. :)
i just have this nagging feeling about this piece that prevents
me from being able to really enjoy it... Ranma has been inserted
into the NGE world and Ch.1 seems to set up the possibility of
him as an EVA pilot and a pairing with Rei. Doesn't this sound
familiar? Why do I get that skeptical 'It's Been Done' feeling?
Well, Ranma inserts into the NGe _have_ been done before, but not as
much as I'd have liked to see, which subsequently resulted in my attempt
at such a story. On the subject of Ranma getting involved with the
Angels, it seems kinda inevitable, wouldn't you say? After all, what is
there for him to do in Tokyo-3? ^_^
The possibility of pairing Ranma and Rei has been written intentionally,
basically to give readers who can't stand such a pairing a chance to
back down. I seem to remember only one fic that's done that in the past
(Past/Future by Long Ngo), and I hope that I'll be able to do it
originally enough.
On a separate but related note, Ranma inserts into the NGE world
also have this tendency to turn into a Ranma as uber-pilot-that-
saves-the-world-and-hijacks-the-story much in the vein of what
Lara is making fun of/venting spleen against in 'The Perfect Pilot'.
The topic of Ranma becoming a pilot is discussed further in chapter 2.
One more thing - this isn't just a 'Ranma' insert. Other Ranma 1/2
characters will make appearances; those that survived Second Impact,
that is.
Of course, these comments may be premature and Corwin may be able
to pull off something interesting and balanced. but caveat emptor.
Ranma doesn't like to lose, not when it really counts. Of course,
neither does Gendo. And you also have the Angels attacking all the time.
I think I can turn this all into an interesting story.
At least, I sure hope so. :)
