I wanted to try my hand at another fan fic, for now I will only do a
one chapter story. I was crushed when Tenchi's Choice was a
failure but writing the lemon put together what I wanted to do as
an alternative to nice and sweet fic and gave me another avenue
to pursue. This one is dedicated to the love of my life, Terry.

See author's note on bottom.

Disclaimer: I don't own Tenchi or any of the characters, well I own
myself but that is not important.

                    A Oneshot Story: Tenchi's Love

Tenchi woke up, stretched, and sat up. He looked at the rumpled
mess that was his bed, he hadn't slept well and his tiredness was
evident. The covers were twisted into knots at the foot of the bed
while the pillow looked punched and beaten. He didn't want to get
up and face the fighting another day, but felt hopeless in his search
for an answer.

He stood up and headed for the bathroom, a bath would make him
feel better. He lay back in the tub to relax but the fighting down the
hall made it impossible so he got out, wrapped himself in a towel, and
headed back to his room where he got dressed. All he wanted to do
was think in quiet for a few hours to sort things out. Not a chance.

Down the hall Ayeka was yelling at Ryoko for being irresponsible again,
all were tired of that argument, it was old and overdone. She should stop
but that was Ayeka, that was her main complaint against the space pirate,
and why Tenchi should pick her. She was going to rule Jurai one day, she
was responsible, trustworthy, loyal, and she loved Tenchi with her whole
being. What more could he want?

Ryoko wasn't lazy like Ayeka thought, she just thought that she had better
things to do than clean the bathroom and laundry. Granted she wasn't going
to rule anything in the future, but the last time she checked Tenchi didn't want
to either. She thought about him all the time, his brown hair with the ponytail
in the back, his big expressive brown eyes, his tall slender frame. She was
head over heels in love with Tenchi and there was nothing she wouldn't do for
him. She would do whatever he asked of her, including give her life.

Finally downstairs Tenchi encountered Sasami, Ayeka younger sister. He
liked Sasami because she was such a pleasant person, never fought like
Ayeka and Ryoko, was always cheerful, and most of all wasn't trying to make
him her life.

"How are you this morning Sasami?" Tenchi tried to sound cheerful.

"Great Tenchi, breakfast is almost ready so if you want to go get everyone
that would be nice." She said it without ever looking away from her cooking,
the small, furry, meowing rabbit at her feet begging for a carrot.

Tenchi didn't want to break up the fight upstairs but he went up and watched
as Ayeka's battle logs came out and trapped Ryoko.

"Breakfast is ready so why don't you stop fighting and come down and eat?,"
he was slightly embarrassed interrupting them like that.

The girls appeared to ignore him so he went downstairs and to Washu's lab,
another place he dreaded going. He hated being her test subject, but he had
to go there anyway. He walked in and looked at all the gizmo's and machines,
he didn't know what any of them did. Walking further in there were containers
with other life forms in them that went from the floor to the ceiling in Washu's
interdementional lab. Looking around he saw her sitting at her console typing
data into it.

"Breakfast is ready Little Washu!," he yelled hoping to bid a quick retreat. No
luck as the redhead grabbed him.

Washu was cute in an evil impish way. Her hair was long and bright red, her
green with a hint of mad scientist in them, okay not a hint, with the look of a
insane scientist. She was small, but she had chosen that form so she wouldn't
have to grow up and face the same tragedies as adults, she of course was
wrong in that assumption.

"Just one little sample," she said as she strapped him into a chair and put a
device with flashing lights on his head.

She went back to her console and began pushing buttons again, "As I thought,
your molecular structure isn't like that of other earthlings, proving you are a
product of Jurai."

"We already knew that Washu, why did we have to do this again?," he was more
than annoyed with her.

"Just to keep check of you, otherwise we wouldn't be able to see the effects on
humans."

He knew she was lying but she let him go so he ran out to find Mihoshi.

Mihoshi was almost inept at everything she did. She was tall and blonde, he
supposed she had a nice body but he wasn't really interested in her sexually.
She was clumsy and appeared to be stupid but sometimes she did brilliant
things nobody understood how she did them. Maybe she was just naive. He
found her on the couch watching some cartoon with shape shifting characters.
She was laughing at a scene where the boy, now a girl, was hit in the head
with a mallet by another girl, while yet another girl was grabbing onto the guy/girl.

"Breakfast Mihoshi," he said and went to the dining room and took his place at
the table.

Sasami brought the food in and set it on the table for all to eat. Sasami was
about twelve so she was small, her hair was in its pigtails and her dress was
a old work dress. It had been a play dress back on Jurai but now she wore
it to do the housework and cooking. She was an excellent cook and all loved
her for being so wise yet young, no one would ever be able to replace the child
in Tenchi's life.

They were all silent as they at breakfast, this gave Tenchi time to examine the
girls without notice. His grandfather had headed to the shrine earlier and his
father was already at work so the silence deafened him.

Ryoko was beautiful with her silver hair and cat-like yellow eyes, her supple
figure made Tenchi want her. She was laid back, nothing phased her, and she
was always willing to be there for him. He loved her more than he cared to admit
and he didn't want her to leave because Tenchi had grown to need her chaos. If
Ayeka hadn't come here he would have married her, he still might.

Ayeka was pretty enough, but they were related by blood, and he didn't want to
marry someone he was related to. Her dark purple hair made her pink eyes stand
out all the more, her tall and ample figure would turn heads too. She had a regal
aire about her, from being the crown princess of Jurai, and that put her status way
above Tenchi he thought. Besides his life was here, he would never give it up to
go to another planet and rule, and she would never give up ruling another planet to
stay here and be a farmer's wife. There was no hope for her at all, he felt it better
to leave her in the dark for now to avoid confrontations, they would come anyway but
the later the better.

With breakfast finished he went out to the carrot fields to weed and pick the ones
that are ready. This gave him more time to think about his situation without the
noise of the house. He loved all the girls in their own way but he had this need to
settle down some, the endless fights between Ryoko and Ayeka were going to
drive hiim insane. He decided that he really didn't want any of the girls to leave,
he just wanted them to stop fighting over him. To accomplish that he was going
to HAVE to decide on one of them.

Tenchi lost himself in his thinking and before he knew it, it was lunch time so he
sat where he was and ate his lunch. Rice and vegetables, great lunch, he was
sick of looking at carrots. He saw Sasami had stuffed a small cake into his bento
so he ate that and the rice, but threw most of the veggies out. He looked out at
the work he'd done it seemed like he was hard at work while his mind drifted away.
He'd done five whole rows, now it was time to go back to work and thinking.

His love for Ryoko made her his first choice, and being related to Ayeka and Sasami
made them his last choice. Washu, hmm, she scared him. Scared wasn't the right
word, terrified him was more like it, so she was definately out. Mihoshi was nice,
polite, and completely absent minded. Plus she didn't do anything for him since
he wasn't really attracted to her. Tenchi didn't think she'd even notice that he'd
chosen Ryoko over her, she was too lost to notice.

When he looked at his watch it was 2:30, he was tired of working in the field so he
decided to go practice with Yosho while asking him for advice. He didn't think his
grandfather was the best to get advice from, but this was a sticky situation and he
needed to talk to someone, anyone.

Walking up to the shrine he saw his grandfather sweeping the hundred steps that
lead to the building. He waved and got a wave in return as he advanced to his
elder.

"Grandfather, I would like some advice, can you help me?" He worried what kind his
elder would give him.

"Sure Tenchi, let's go inside. What is your problem?," he asked as he put his arm
around the boy's shoulder.

"I want to have a normal life here, at the shrine, I have chosen my wife, how do I tell
the others without hurting them and making them leave?"

"That is a problem. You don't want all the girls to leave, but you want peace in the
house? You have chosen your wife? Who is it?," he almost missed the wife part.

"I have chosen Ryoko, she is the one I love most, other than Sasami, but I will not
marry a blood relative."

"I see, I don't blame you for that my son. Ayeka will be heart broken of course, you
must be honest and straight forward with her, and be gentle. Ask her to stay, beg if
you must, but don't let her leave in anger. You both will regret it later."

"Are you sure she will. Ayeka is so hot tempered that she will erupt when I tell her
I have chosen Ryoko over her, I am scared to tell her. I think she starts all the fights
with her short temper, Ryoko is just playing with her."

"Yes, I agree, that is why you must be honest with her. She will understand, now I
have to go back to work, I suggest you tell her soon."

Great, Tenchi thought, she won't understand or be reasonable about it. I suppose
he is right though, I better go tell her. He began to fear going home as he walked
to the house.

When he got back to the house Ayeka was in the living room watching a soap opera
with the others, Sasami saw him first.

"Hi Tenchi, done so early?," she was cheerful as always.

"Yes. Lady Ayeka, can I talk to you privately?"

"Of course Tenchi," she said as she got up off the couch.

They went outside, Ayeka following Tenchi at a respectful distance while looking at
the ground. Ayeka was worried that she had done something wrong, she was going
to beg for mercy if need be.

"Please sit," he motioned to the bank of the lake. She took her seat and waited for
him in silence.

"Is there something wrong?," she asked once he was sitting on the ground beside
her, completely oblivious to the other four faces watching out the door.

"Ayeka, I have something to tell you. I want to be completely truthful with you, and
I want you to understand. I want you to stay here with us for as long you like, but
you have to know I have chosen Ryoko to be my wife. That is if she will have me."

She sat there in silence for what seemed like an eternity, but it was really only a
few seconds.

"You...chose...that...DEVIL...WOMAN...OVER...ME...!!!!!!," her voice rose in volume
with each word.

"Ayeka, please, you and I are related by blood. I don't want to break laws to marry
you, I don't want to go to Jurai to rule. I just want a quiet life here with the love of
my life. Ryoko is that woman," he was pleading with her.

Her face was red and he could almost see the steam rising off of her. She was mad
and there would be no consoling her, in fact, she would hear no more words he said.
All she could think about was how to get revenge on the woman that had ruined her
life, if that WITCH wasn't in the picture he would be hers.

"Tenchi, I am not giving up that easily, I know you love me. You are just blinded
right now by lust, you will see it is me that you love," she said as she rose and
stomped off. Tenchi worried for Ryoko right now.

Back at the house the other girls struggled to hear what Tenchi said, it was almost
unmistakeable what Ayeka said as she was yelling it. They all returned to the
couch when they saw her get up and started walking to the house with a determined
stomp. She was mad, best to stay out of her way.

Tenchi sat on the bank for awhile, just staring at nothing, thinking of his mother.
He wished she was there to give him advice on how to help Ayeka. She wasn't
there so it was useless to wish for her. He felt a presence approaching him
but he still didn't stir.

"What's wrong Tenchi, did that spoiled princess try something with you?" It was
Ryoko, just who he suspected and wanted to talk to.

"Ryoko, we have to talk."

It was her turn to worry now.

"Yes Tenchi?"

"I don't want you to tease Ayeka for awhile, I just gave her some bad news."

"Whatever you want Tenchi dear," not really meaning it.

He turned and looked her in the eye. "Promise?"

She couldn't lie now, "Yes."

She sat beside him and took his hand in hers, to Tenchi it felt good to
hold the hand of the woman he loved. They gazed into nothing for a long
time before he finally spoke.

"Ryoko," he said turning to her, "I have chosen the woman I want to be with.
That is the bad news I gave Ayeka, I can't stand the thought of marrying a
blood relative. Let alone one I don't love."

He was embarrassed to tell her of her love, especially since she was looking
at him with such love in her eyes.

"Yes, my love?," she was being sly, or trying to anyway.

"Yes Ryoko, I chose you, you are the love of my life. But our troubles are
just beginning, Ayeka is plotting against you, she won't give up on me that
easily. We must be careful."

She was too dazed to hear anything really, she had wanted to hear this for
a long time. She, Ryoko the space pirate, was the love of this gorgeous and
sexy man's life. Ryoko grabbed him in a death-grip of a hug and started to
kiss his face all over. Caught by surprise, Tenchi finally relaxed and let her
kiss him. Emotion flooded them and they were kissing passionately on the
bank of the lake.

Sasami called for everyone to come to dinner and it was an uncomfortable
quiet at the dinner table. Yosho observing his grandson and his choice for
wife exchanging loving looks, while Ayeka watched almost unable to contain
her anger. Mihoshi as he thought, didn't notice. Sasami watched in concern
for her sister and confusion of what she felt.

Sasami had thought that Tenchi would wait for her to grow up, so she too was
devastated by the news. But she knew it was Tenchi's choice, she just felt
so sorry for Ayeka, who was set on having him for herself.

After dinner Yosho took Ayeka aside to talk to her.

"Lady Ayeka, I want to extend my wishes for you to stay here as long as you
like. You and Sasami are a part of this family now and we would hate to lose
you both."

"Yosho, how can I stay here in this house with Ryoko getting my life? I can
not bear to watch them acting so in love." She was still very angry.

"Be patient my dear, don't let anger make your decision. Tenchi has known her
for years, she was watching over him for his whole life. It is only natural that he
fall in love with her, they are meant to be together. You are a blood relative, here
on earth they consider it a law against man if you marry a blood relative. He will
never rule Jurai, it was never his wish, he was raised as an earthling. I am sorry
though," he tried to comfort her. He thought he'd made an impression.

Ayeka looked deep in thought, then shook her head.

"Yosho, I don't know what I will do now. I lost you, I lost Tenchi, what is there left
for me?," she looked lost.

"Stay here and make new friends, maybe the one for you is right under your nose."

Just then Nobiyuki stuck his head in to see what was going on.

"I suppose you are right Yosho." She stood and turned to leave. "Goodnight, and
thanks."

"Did I interrupt anything?"

"No, have you heard, Tenchi has chosen a bride?"

"Yes, it's wonderful isn't it. His mother would be proud."

"That she would, son. I feel so bad for the others though, especially Ayeka. She
is lost right now. I have an idea Nobiyuki, why don't you try to get her interested
in arcitecture?," he was playing matchmaker but it went unnoticed.

"Good idea father. I will take her tomorrow." He turned to go, "Goodnight father."

"Good night son," Yosho felt good about that.

His son-in-law had been clueless since his wife and Yosho's daughter had died.
He needed someone too, so what if she looked young enough to be his daughter,
men and women did that all the time these days. With that thought he went to
his room to go to sleep.

Tenchi sat in his room reflecting on his day, he'd chosen a wife. He was wired.
There was a knock on his door, he got up and opened the door to see Ayeka.

"I am sorry about losing my temper earlier, I was ...,"

"No need to apologize Lady Ayeka, I completely understand."

"It was so unladylike, I want to congratulate you and Ryoko. I hope you will be
happy, but I am not completely giving up on you. I love you and hope you will
come around and realize you need me too."

"I do need you Ayeka, I just don't want to be involved with you romantically due
to the laws here. You are beautiful, you will find someone else, I promise." He
smiled as she turned to leave, she turned and gave a weak smile.

"Sure." The devastation was written all over her face as she returned to the room
she shared with Sasami and Mihoshi.

Nobiyuki stood unnoticed at the top of the stairs, his heart going out to Ayeka. He
wanted to ease her pain, but he didn't know how. She was beautiful and would be
interested in him because of his age, and he was Tenchi's dad. He could love her,
he thought if circumstances were different, she could love him too. Oh well, he was
tired so he went to his room and drifted into a Ayeka filled dream-state.

The next morning Ayeka and Nobiyuki looked at each other in curiosity. He knew
he was in love with her, but she still loved Tenchi. He made up his mind to woo
her and make her his wife.

The End

Author's note: I left it open for Ayeka to fall in love with Nobiyuki, Achika has been
gone about ten years now so he has mourned her loss long enough. If someone
likes the idea please feel free to go with it, I won't so I don't care.
