My name is Kazuki Yotsuga, a high school student who can see
visions of robots. Apparently, these robots weren't visions, but
glimpses of another world which only I could see. When the two
worlds were about to be destroyed by an interdimensional
distortion, I created this world by combining both worlds into one.
I did so because I wanted to be with everyone. It was my wish. I
could fulfill any desire that I wanted -- I had the power of a god.
But do gods have women trouble?

Prologue: Kareshi no Hitomi (v1.0)
Lunch time. Already, I knew that it would be a hard day. The
first indication of this was my missing bento boxes. They weren't
really missing. It's just that all the other boys of the class were
having a hayday with my three boxed lunches. Oh, and this time,
they only gave me three thousand yen for all three of them. I used
to be able to get that much just for Mitsuki's lunch.
The calls from the other side of the classroom just served to
increase my indignation. "Oh, it's Miss Sanada's lunch! It tastes
great!" "Hey, save some for me, will ya?" "Miss Schwael isn't just
a great teacher, she's a great cook, too!" "Oh, Miss Rara, if only
you would cook for me every single day..."
Everyday, I get three boxed lunches from my friends. Mitsuki
Sanada, the daughter of my uncle, likes to prepare a traditional
Japanese lunch for me. Yayoi Schwael, my homeroom teacher,
always whips up a fine Western meal. And Mitsuki Rara, the
daughter of my uncle's best friend, always makes me some ramen
or some other Chinese delicacy. But as usual, I don't get to eat any
single one. All three of them are so popular with the guys in class
that their lunches don't even stand a chance.
Oh, well, it looks like it's another trip to the cafe. I wonder if
they have any wheat bread sandwiches left?
The cafeteria used to be so much more crowded before I had
those boxed lunches. It's just that all the guys who used to eat here
are eating my lunch instead. It's amazing how all of them can be
happy with just my three boxed lunches. I guess the sweet spice of
love also makes for a great main course. Yeah, right.
"Kazuki Yotsuga!"
Oh, no...
"Would you please give this to your cousin Mitsuki?" the
chorus of men's voices always changed everyday, but they were all
the same they all wanted me to do something for them. To give
their love letters to Mitsuki.
Ever since my parents went overseas ten years ago because of
their work, I've been living with my uncle, Ken Sanada, his wife
Akane, and their daughter Mitsuki. Also living with us is Mitsuki
Rara, whose father went on a research trip to France. My uncle,
being Mr. Rara's best friend, agreed to take care of Mitsuki. And
then there's Dee. She's an orphan whom my uncle adopted. No
one really knows who her parents are, but now she's a part of our
family. Finally, my homeroom teacher, Yayoi Schwael, usually
drops by in the morning for breakfast. She doesn't like eating
alone, and ever since her grandmother left on a business trip last
month, she's been with us every single morning.
Because the two Mitsukis are so popular, I get a load of love
letters for them all the time. Doesn't this school ever run out of
men? I must have gotten letters from every single guy on campus!
I just got the batch for Mistuki. In a while, I'm sure I'm going to
get the batch for Mitsuki-san.
I sat down with my cold sandwich. On the table next to me was
a pile of letters, in every shape, color and design. Pink hearts,
flowing calligraphy, heart-shaped stationery, I'd seen them all.
And they all had the name, "Mitsuki Sanada" or "Mitsuki Rara" on
them. If I had known things were going to be this way, I would
have gone to another high school. It's all the same, day in, day out,
every single day. These letters I get, always addressed to the two
Mitsukis, I wonder why I never get...
Hey, what's this?
I reached out into the pile of letters, my eye caught by
something that was out of the ordinary. A plain, white envelope,
untainted by the dainty finery that characterized all the other
letters. I held it up to look at it further. Now, this was new.
I get letters for Mitsuki and Mitsuki-san all the time.
Sometimes, I even get letters for Yayoi, from the men who are
bold enough to dream of it, but too cowardly to give it themselves.
But this one...
The bell just rang. Whoops, better get to class.

"Kazuki, why do you always have to take all their letters?
Can't you say no for a change?" Mitsuki Sanada shouted in my
ear. Our living room echoed with her cries of frustration.
I had just given her her share of the day's letters. I don't know
why she's always so mad at me. It's not like she actually does
anything about the letters. She always makes me write out all the
letters for her. I must have said `no' to half the guys in school
already, under Mitsuki's name.
"Oh, what should I do? I'm so embarassed," Mitsuki-san said,
blushing uncontrollably. Unlike my cousin Mitsuki, Miss Rara
always writes back to every single letter she receives. For some
reason, though, I sometimes get letters for her from the same men.
Does she even say `no' in her replies? Maybe it's just her
congenial personality.
"Kazuki, I expect you to have those all those letters done by
tomorrow, okay?" Mitsuki said, shoving the letters back to me.
"Say, Mitsuki, don't you ever think of reading some of these
letters? Who knows, maybe one of them is from a guy you like..."
The look she gives me is enough to shatter ice.
"Kazuki," she said, "haven't I told you before to just refuse
these letters? It's always so much trouble, you know."
"Oh, I don't mind," Mitsuki-san said, still blushing.
Mitsuki raised her brow at Miss Rara, as if in resignation. Her
gaze wandered over to Dee, who was sitting next to me.
"It must be great, not to be hassled by all these letters like you,
Dee," Mitsuki began, and I suddenly remembered something.
Dee just looked back at Mitsuki with a quizical look. "Is it
really such a bother to get all those letters, Mitsuki-ne?" She
looked at the pile of letters in my hands.
"Wait, I almost forgot!" I cried, dropping Mitsuki's letters.
"What is it, Kazuki-ni?" Dee asked. The two Mitsukis just
looked at me curiously.
"This," I began, holding up the plain white envelope I had
singled out earlier. "This is for you, Dee."
The look of shock on the two Mitsuki's faces was a twin signal
of bewilderment.
"A letter..." Mitsuki began.
"... for Dee?" Mitsuki-san finished.
Dee took the envelope from my hands, her green eyes looking
the plain white surface over critically. As I looked at her, holding
that letter, her normally impassive features looked almost angelic,
carved out of marble, accented perfectly by her fine green hair.
What was she thinking?
Dee looked up from the letter, raising her eyes to meet mine.
Those sparkling green eyes.
"Thank you, Kazuki-ni. I'll read it later." Dee got up, gingerly
holding the letter in her hands.
"Guys, dinner's ready!" Akane called from the kitchen.
Sometimes the two Mistukis cook the meal, but most of the time
its my aunt, Akane, who does the cooking. I have to admit, I like
the cooking of the Mitsukis better, but...
As we got up to go to the kitchen, my eyes looked over to Dee
again, still holding the letter. Her eyes, those green eyes that shone
with the light of her soul, were staring intently at the letter.
"Kazuki, the food is getting cold!" Mitsuki fumed, grabbing
my arm and dragging me to the kitchen.
"Uh, yeah, let's eat!" As I was dragged off, the image of Dee,
standing there with the letter in her hands, seemed to engrave itself
into my mind.

--- BLAH BLAH BLAH: (i.e. - long boring author's rant)
Hi everyone. This is, I believe, the first Dual! fanfic to
make it to the FFML. I could be wrong. Anyway, although I wrote
this in response to the "Fall 2000" challenge, I had actually
been toying with the notion of writing a Dual fic. Here we have
a perfectly fine anime, and no one was writing anything about it.
Well, Dual is loved and praised by anime lovers all over South
East Asia, but virtually unknown in North America. So I thought
I might as well make the first contribution, and bring Dual to
the fanfic readers of the list.
Seeing as Dual is a relatively unknown anime around these
parts, I wanted to write this fic as a sort of "starter" fic
for the anime. That is, I think you can appreciate this fic
without actually having seen the anime. It is, however, actually
set after the entire OAV series, and to tell you the truth, I
am taking some liberties. But I am planning to keep the flavor
of Dual intact, at least I hope so.
Dual is a fun anime. It is from the same team that brought
us Tenchi Muyou! and El Hazard. How to describe it? It is what I
like to call an unholy union of Tenchi and Evangelion. However,
the funny thing is, I don't particularly like Evangelion, and I
absolutely abhor Tenchi Muyou. So why am I writing a Dual fic?
I dunno, but I like Dual. I could explain my personal opinion of
why I like it here, but I doubt any of you would be interested.
Let's just say that if you're an Eva fan, you'll probably
at least get a few laughs out of Dual. If you're a Tenchi fan,
then you're almost assured of loving Dual. Because here we revisit
the age-old Pioneer tradition of the dorky guy getting all the
girls.
With that said, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this thing,
where almost nothing has happened yet. I hope to get the next
real (pun intended) part out soon. This is just the prologue.
Well, later!
