correction.
Joan of Arc would be refered to as "Jeanne, La Vierge D'Orleans" as
opposed>to "Plucelle du Orleans". Plucelle (I assume) is a typo, since
"pucelle" is an>extremely slangy term for virgin or maid, sometimes used to
refer to the actual>hymen.
I'm sorry to report that, but Pucelle d'Orleans is the proper term for
naming Joan of Arc. That is the word that was used in that time for
describing virgins. That is also how historians refer to her. They even
had "puceau" for the male virgins. And even today, it is not considered
slang in french, in Quebec, at least.
