But some things of concern are: Would the Norns be going after Ranma
themselves? From what I've seen, Akane was enough to tie up Urd, a second
level goddess. This tends to exhibit extreme power. Ranma's prob. the
equivalent of 1st class, unlimited. Of course, I get the feeling that once
you hit first class, it's like black belts, plenty of room for
sub-divisions. Ranma would have to be WAY up there. The Norns are not
combat specialists, while Ranma seems to be one, and very powerful at that.
Wouldn't the Norns be going after help, from say, Thor?
First of all, Urd was extremely tired and vulnerable after granting the wish
(stopping the process in the middle probably took some power as well). Why?
Because Belldandy fainted after Keiichi's wish in the original timeline, and
she's a first class goddess, no less.
Secondly, Urd was taken by surprise. A moment ago she was talking with Akane,
and the next, she's being attacked (or, more precisely, counter-attacked). She
didn't even try to defend herself in time.
Thirdly, Urd is, after all, only a second class goddess. The three Norns, along
with several Norse gods, could probably take Ranma and Akane down in an all-out
fight.
I'm afraid I can't say anything else, but things should be a bit more clear
after chapter 2 (which is at the pre-readers at the moment).
Another point is that Akane and Ranma are acting logically. While I will
admit, they're going to be different with their past 'lives' awakened, but
are you picturing the past Ranma as a logical being? Or at least reasonable
enough that the new merged personality is going to go 'oh shit, I have to
sort this stuff out.'

I disagree that Ranma is much different as a demon. His concern for human life
(even one of his enemies) was always present in the series. He was the one who
went the most for his most hated enemies and rivals. Ranma even helped Taro and
Happosai when they were down, getting betrayed by them as the result. So, Ranma
stopping Akane from finishing Urd off is pretty much IC for him, imho.
And as for going to 'sort things out', this isn't their only reason. They want
to get away from all threats, both to them and to the others, that might get in
the way. I don't see Akane willing to put her family in risk when at least one
goddess and several of the Nerima gang (Kodachi, Ryoga, Tatewaki, Shampoo and
etc.) will try to attack them there. Another point to consider is that Ranma is
acting 'tactically', not 'logically'. Ranma is a brilliant strategist, and I
feel he's still in 'battle mode' for most of the chapter. He wouldn't make many
mistakes if he's acting that way.
