Don't mind him, folks! He just thinks that just
because it's been
done before with wonderful execution that there
can't be another
attempt along the same lines that's excellent in its
own right. Such
variety makes the world go around, you know.
Variety DOES make the world go around, but there
already are many Ranma/SM fanfics out there. That is
not to say that new ones shouldn't be written anymore,
but originality is always at least a factor in
writing fanfics, and I didn't feel Carrot's fic,
although well done, was very original.
Besides, VGAP is wrong. It hasn't been done
before... not like this.
It's NOT like BSSR, because in BSSR _no one_ but
Ranma is under a
Jyusenkyo-like effect. This is your standard-issue
Ranma Saotome who
happened to be thrust into the role of Sailor Moon
(in contrast BSSR
is *not* a standard-issue Ranma; that Ranma _was_ a
normal person).
I admit to overlooking that fact, but is that
detail enough to warrant a completely different
plotline? It WOULD be highly different if this Ranma
was that of late into series, but he is from
relatively
early in the continuity. Given that, it didn't seem
much different from BSSR, since Ranma in BSSR didn't
seem much different from one of canon.
And it looks like Happy's got his fingers in it and
not as a youma!
I, for one, would like to see how THIS Ranma Saotome
deals with being
SMoon. You've got me intrigued, Hibiki-san! I'd like
to see more
before you disappear off the face of the earth. <g>
I was just saying that I preferred his other
fics. Carrot has all the right in the world to write
whatever he wishes, and I was simply expressing my
opinion, just as you were.
