I must admit to a small brain malfunction because I accidentally
sent my fan fic to the Ranma Archive instead of the mailing list.
I saved chapters 1, 2, & 4 to a draft folder but not 3 so I am
forced to rewrite chapter 3. I don't own Tenchi, Ranma, or any
other anime I make references to. Please enjoy.
Chapter Three
Tenchi and Ryoko
The journey home was uneventful for the duo, more of Tenchi
attempting to hide his feelings while Ryoko tried to pry them
out of him. All in all it was a pleasant trip.
All gathered around the lake and the landing Juraiian ship, all
were confused by it, until Tenchi, Ryoko, and Ryo oki disembarked
from it. Mass confusion followed, only to be replaced by four
women and two men hugging Tenchi furiously while shoving a
disgruntled Ryoko out of the way. Kiyone stood back and
observed the display disgustedly, truthfully she really thought
Tenchi was an okay guy, but nothing that great.
After all the 'hello's' and 'welcome home's' were taken care of
all wanted to hear of the trip to Jurai but Tenchi claimed he
wanted to take a bath and a nap and would tell them all over
tea later.
He took his grandfather aside and told him something in private
while the other walked to the house dejectedly.
"Grandfather, I have chosen Ryoko to be my wife and our trip was
a success."
"Very good Tenchi, taking a stand for what you want."
"Will you talk to Ayeka after I make the announcement, she will
be the most upset by this."
"Of course, I am her brother after all, it is my place. Have you
asked Ryoko to marry you yet?"
"No, I am planning on doing that later Grandfather. I only wish
that there weren't so many girls waiting to hear that I had
chosen them."
Yosho looked at the sad face his grandson was wearing, and
truly felt for him, then patted his shoulder. He knew Tenchi
had done the right thing making his decision.
Tenchi walked into the house and up the stairs to get his bathing
things and saw Ryoko lying on her futon. He walked in and sat
beside her.
"Ryoko, you there is going to be a huge change in the house
and all will be infected, including you." Tenchi was building up
his nerve to tell her.
"Yes, I felt it at the time when you left for you trip to the hills, I
wondered when you were going to spring it on us."
"I made my choice for who I want as a wife," he was stalling and
she knew it.
"Fine, I will pack my things and leave, I hope you and Ayeka..."
she never got to finish.
"I chose you, Silly. Ayeka and Sasami are blood relatives and I
would consider it incest, Washu scares me, Mihoshi isn't up for
really intelligent conversation, and Kiyone is obsessed with her
work. And I don't think she really likes me anyway."
He had the biggest smile on his face when it dawned on her that
he had gone to Jurai to beg for her release for this. She was SO
happy she couldn't stop smiling.
"One thing Ryoko, no gloating to the others, in fact, don't let them
know that you know. I think that would be the best thing to do."
He stood up to go take his bath when she grabbed his hand. "Then
you love me?," she was desperate to hear those words.
"I love you, yes Ryoko."
She hugged him for all her might, then let him go take his bath.
Downstairs there was a murmurring about what was going on, Ayeka
thought about them bringing a ship from her planet home and couldn't
understand why. Maybe he went and asked her father for her hand in
marriage and they were going to live on Jurai, she was excited with
that thought.
Washu wondered why the Juraiian ship too, why not just take Ryo oki?
Maybe they stole the ship and were on the run again, but then Kiyone
and Mihoshi would have been notified. She had noticed the tender way
in which Tenchi looked at Ryoko but dismissed the idea, and went on
with her experiments.
Mihoshi was ignorant to the connection but Kiyone was on duty turning
ideas over in her head. Why?, she wondered.
Finally Tenchi came downstairs and called Ryoko to come down so he
could clear up all the confusion. They all sat around the table and made
small talk while they enjoyed tea and snacks courtesy of Sasami, when
that was done they all looked at Tenchi apprehensively.
"As you know I went up into the hills to clear my thoughts with some
peace and quiet. I don't want you all here waiting for me to chose you
to be my wife so that is why I did it. I have chosen my mate and I do
NOT want any fighting over it because it was up to me."
Ayeka started crying with joy thinking it was her while the others just
watched from the edge of their seats to hear who his choice would be.
"My trip to Jurai was so I could abdicate my title and all connections to
any chance of me ruling there. It is not my wish to do so, I am no longer
'Lord' Tenchi, I am just plain Tenchi again."
"But why Tenchi, it is a noble thing to rule my planet," Ayeka was getting
a feeling of disaster approaching her at break-neck speed.
"I want a normal life, here on Earth. One where I can follow in my father's
footsteps and be an arcitect if I choose to, but Earth is my home."
All felt for Tenchi and Ayeka, more for Ayeka for being basically told to
jump in a lake.
"Next, the other reason I went to Jurai is to beg for Ryoko's release from
all charges and bounties." The number of shocked faces and big sweat
drops reached seven. "That is right, I have chosen Ryoko as my partner
for life. I am sorry that it wasn't any of you but listen to my reasoning."
All listened with great expectation.
"Ayeka, you and Sasami are blood relatives and I could never see it as
anything but incest. Washu, you are intelligent and beautiful but you
scare the hell out of me truthfully. Mihoshi, you just aren't my type.
Kiyone, well, we aren't really close and your work is so important, I
just didn't think we'd make a good match." Tenchi felt some relief now
that it was all said and done, he couldn't take it back if he wanted to.
But there was one more thing to be said.
He turned to his love and said, "Ryoko, will you be my wife?" Ayeka
felt the final stab in her heart.
"Oh yes, Tenchi I WILL! I love you so much!" Tenchi thought he was
going to suffocate in her grasp.
Now they understood the ship, it was so Ayeka and Sasami could go
back to Jurai. At least he was considerate enough to give them a way
out.
After the news was out and the other girls were broken hearted, they
all turned in for the night. It was obvious that Ayeka was emotionally
destroyed so it was no surprise that she would be leaving first thing in
the morning with Sasami, Mihoshi, and Kiyone, dropping the latter two
at Galaxy Police Headquarters.
They were gone before Tenchi woke, who was not surpised in the least.
In a way he was glad they were going home, it was where they belonged,
he just wished it hadn't turned out this way. Then Ryoko teleported
through the wall and scared the hibbie jibbies out of Tenchi before he
relaxed in the arms of his true love.
