Well, of course! He did fall into spring of drowned Saiyajin, after all.
Now, I don't know a whole lot about Dragon Ball Z(thank God) but don't
Saiyajins put 'Son' before their names or something? Or is that just
Goku's family name? It's entirely possible that Genma knew this. So the
respect Ranma senses from his father is possibly misplaced. ^_^ Sounds
like Genma to me!
'Son' is Goku's family name. It is a name which he got from his adopted
grandfather, Son Gohan (for whom Goku's firstborn was named after).
Also, 'Son' is not pronounced like the word used for male child but is
pronounced with a long 'o' sound. Kind of like 'Soun' but without the
extention.
