Ever read "McLendon's Syndrome" and "The VMR Theory"? The lead character has
an interesting comment about colonists that goes something like this: (I'm
too tired to dig out the book, look up the qoute, so I'm paraphrasing)
"Contrary to popular belief, colonists are not made up of humanity's bestand
brightest. Those people are the ones who stay home and talk about how great
it would be to go out among the stars."
Cast in that light, I suppose I can understand some kid getting stuck with a
name like Knives, but still you're right; Knives is a weird name.
