Subject: [FFML] [Fanfic][Evangelion] Prologue for new story and request

The requests first...

I am in need of prereaders for each of my series, including the newest one, of which the prologue will follow. HOWEVER, these prereaders will need to be long term...And by long term, I mean long term. As in, (perhaps) years...

I am in the last year of a Bachelor's, so time will be essential for me...I hope to get at least one chapter of one series or other out every month, but even that may suffer, especially near and during midterms and finals...

So, those who have nothing else to do...Or those who enjoy my work...Please, I ask that you preread...And, as common courtesy dictates, I shall return the favor...

ALSO...I would like to ask any fanartists on the list to compliment my work, if they enjoy them, with visual images for the stories involved...I am particularly interested in those wanting to do work for Mythos, but will enjoy and post any art...^_^

As for artists, all their work will remain theirs...And if you have not access to a scanner, I can provide a snail mail address...But scans are preferable.

Anyway, enough of my prattle...On with the new series, ne?

^_^

Enjoy!

The old lady looked back at him. There was worry in her eyes that
Icarus didn't understand. Was she afraid of him? He thought that
he wasn't that intimidating. Perhaps she caught wind from the
locals about his father. Icarus closed his brown eyes.

...I shall not fear him...

Opening his eyes, the old lady had turned from him and looked out
across the town to the hills nearby. Icarus followed her line of site
and a slight chill ran up his spine as he thought he could hear
drumbeats. Icarus adjusted the furs that he wore against the chill in
the late air of the year. His tutor had told him that Germania grew
cold quite early. The old lady turned back to Icarus quickly and
gestured to the display in front of him. Icarus simply shook his
head. The woman probably wouldn't understand him anyway.
Icarus shivered as a slight breeze picked up. He longed quietly for
the warm, wet winters of his foster home in Campania.

There. In the distance. It was a drumbeat. And another. And
another. A thin column of smoke rose across that same hill. The
old woman let out a small squeak and hurriedly closed down her
little stand. The sound of hoof beats brought Icarus out of his
stupor. He turned and watched as a Centurion galloped past. The
red and bronze of his armor shined dully in the overcast day, the
plume on his helmet bouncing gaily as he rode along. The horse
was similarly arraigned in the red of the Germanic legions.

"All take cover-All take cover! Barbarians at the pass-Barbarians
at the pass!" he shouted from horseback.

Icarus watched him ride past. He went off towards the column of
smoke and dug his heels in, driving his horse faster.

"Barbarians?" Icarus asked to himself.

He turned to ask the old woman about it, but she was gone. Her
stand little more than a wooden table, she had taken everything
with her. All around him, the people of the small town in which his
carriage had all taken their leave of him. He wondered why...Icarus
reached into the little leather pouch at his waist. He withdrew a
scrap of parchment that his driver had given him before leaving. It
read -Hope to see you soon, Felis-. What was that kind of name?
Felis? As he had been told, the consul for Germania, Felis Kataria,
was a great general in the Northern Legions, almost as great as
Caesar himself.

Faint sounds began to drift to his ears. Sounds he'd never heard
before. Icarus watched the far hill as several units of the Legion
appeared on the crest. They were the sounds of blood and fire and
hate. They fell before the onslaught of a mass of earthen colored
men, all attired in browns and greens and the black mud of
Germania. Icarus watched as they swarmed over the hill, ever
faster toward the small town. They were the sounds of war.
