A euphemism for the obvious panic incurred when massive energy weapons
are reaching out over fantastic distances to reduce you and your

I agree with you though, Kasumi would probably not approve of Mukaida's
off-color remark.
Frankly, I regard this battle as yet more evidence that Kasumi should be the

2. Let me explain my views on the Commonwealth's idea of capital punishment.
This is something I made up for the story, and has no grounds anywhere in
the Ranma 1/2 canon regarding the Chinese Amazons.
It is, however, distinctly reminiscent of the Clan legal system. So's the
"breeding program". Incidentally, I can't think of any reason why Saffron
would need a mech. Isn't he enough in his own right?
Having read one Battletech Clan novel many, many years ago, I can't
claim much knowledge of how they operate.
Personally speaking, I stopped playing Battletech when FASA introduced
the clans, which is why I have deliberately set the story in 3025, and
why no one is running around in Clan 'mechs. They just took the fun out
of Battletech when they introduce the Clans, which was that it was to me
a sort of "Road Warrior with Giant Robots" kind of game.
Most of the similarities between the Joketsuzoku of this story and the
Clans are born from almost universal ideas of how a society ruled by a
strict heriditary military caste would operate. The Breeding Program is
taken from the Clans.
There wasn't any mention that Saffron would get a 'mech. You are quite
correct. He doesn't need one. His army of lesser selves on the other
hand might. I guess it would be a matter of how cheaply they could
produce them, and how long it would take them to mature.
