Part 11 "Sweet Forgiveness"
Lita peeked to see how her mother was doing; Reenie had just
used Luna Ball to adjust Mrs. Anderson's memories so she could spend the
night at Raye's. The woman blinked a couple of times, then said in a
serious tone, "Lita, do you promise to stay the whole night?"
"Yes Mommy," Lita blushed, "I'll stay the WHOLE night 'n' I'll
be extra good!"
"All right, Lita," Mrs. Anderson agreed, "Go call Raye and see
if it's okay."
"We should go now, Serena, Aunt Ellen and Uncle Ken are gonna
leave soon," Reenie piped in. "We gotta go. Bye, Mrs. Anderson. Bye,
Amy, Lita,"
"'Kay," Serena chirped, "Bye Amy, Lita. Bye Mrs. Anderson."
"Good-bye, girls," Mrs. Anderson replied.
"Bye!" Amy and Lita chorused together while waving.
Next, Lita hurried over to the phone. After speed-dialing Raye's
number, she waited. On the third ring, Raye answered the phone.
"Cherry Hill Temple. Raye Hino speaking," she giggled.
"Hi Raye!" Lita said, "Can I come and sleep at your place
tonight?"
"I gotta ask," Raye indicated.
<Boy, she sounds wired for sound,> Lita concluded as she heard
Raye asking if she could sleep over. <I wonder what's got her so hyper?>
"Chad 'n' Grandpa say you can come," Raye squealed delightedly,
"We can play and do all sorta stuff."
"Yeah," Lita agreed and for the next couple of minutes were
spent talking about what they were going to do. And then, Lita could
hear Chad telling Raye something. Suspecting what it was, she turned to
her mother and said, "Mommy, Chad wants to talk to ya."
"Thanks, dear," Mrs. Anderson answered while taking the phone,
"Now, sweetie, you go get your overnight bag and get your PJs and
toothbrush." She smiled as Lita hugged her legs before grabbing her
sister's hand and running off for their room. Turning to the phone, she
said, "Hello?"
"Oh... I was just about to ask for you, Mrs. Anderson," Chad
told her.
Serena Tsukino skipped happily along the sidewalk towards home
after leaving the Anderson home. She felt full of energy. Mina and
Carrie had already been picked up by Mina's mother. Serena decided that
that was good thing. <Mina was majorly upset that nobody bought her
cookies,> Serena thought, <But they weren't very good.> With her little
remaining money, she had bought one to try and cheer up her blonde
friend but had barely managed to swallow it without choking.
They had ridden home with Amy and Lita so that Reenie could use
Luna Ball on Mrs. Anderson so that Lita could spend the night over at
Raye's. <Whatever Lita and Amy were fighting about got fixed.> Serena
was glad about that. <We're gonna go to Mol's for supper and then, we
even get to spend the night!> Her parents had planned an evening out.
Better still, there would be no Sammy to harass her.
"Serena! Not too far ahead," Reenie called out. Serena stopped
to regard her big sister.
"Sorry Reenie."
"That's okay," the older girl said and took Serena's hand,
"Come, we're almost home." Serena just smiled up at Reenie before
walking beside her.
As she walked up the front walk to her house, Serena couldn't
help but smile. <Reenie forgave me.> It felt so nice to have the little
girl not angry with her. <But I'm gonna be on my bestest behavior.> Not
only because Serena didn't want to cause any trouble for Molly but also
because she didn't want to fight with Reenie again.
<I have to go home soon,> Serena sadly knew as she came into her
house. "I'm home!" Sitting down, she started taking off her shoes. <I
miss my Reenie and I was pretty hard on her before I left.> But if the
time reset like last time, she'd be able to correct that before it even
happened. <Maybe she can use Luna Ball on my parents so we can do
something extra fun.> She heard a noise and looked up. "Hi Mommy!"
"Hello Serena," her mother greeted her, "Hello Reenie."
"Hi Aunt Ellen."
Serena scrambled to her feet, ran over to her mother, and hugged
a leg. "Me and Reenie shared a cookie." She smiled prettily up at her
mother.
"Did you now?" The child nodded vigorously. "And why did you and
Reenie share?"
"'Cause me 'n' her like each other," Serena squeaked. <I hope
that made sense.> Apparently it did because she was getting an approving
smile. She missed the wink her mother gave Reenie.
"Why don't you go get changed. I'll come up and we can see if
you want to take anything else with you to Molly's."
"'Kay," the six year old chirped before heading towards the
stairs. She started up them when a ball of white and a ball of black fur
shot past her. She gave a small cry of surprise. <Who? I never thought
Luna would get into a playing mood.> Hurrying up after the kittens, she
discovered them in her parents' bedroom. <Mommy ain't gonna like that.>
Both kittens were into her mother's yarn. <But I gotta do stuff.> She
smiled. It was cute to see Luna finally letting her hair down. Turning,
she skipped into her room.
That's when the water balloon Sammy had setup fell on her.
"Thanks for staying at Raye's, Lita," Amy began as she watched
her sister pack, "I... I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings."
"No prob." Lita paused in stuffing her pajama top into the
overnight bag before hugging her sister. "I love you, Sis."
"I love you too, Sis," Amy replied. <I feel bad about fighting
with you.> She felt she had to explain it to Lita so she said, "I
thought I was okay with things... but I guess I've always wanted Mommy
around more. And then with you here..." She trailed off and blushed a
little. "I don't know... Kimmy wasn't gonna come to my party but now she
is."
"I like you for who you are," Lita remarked to her sister,
"Serena does too. Whether it's the bookworm or the Great Ghost Hunter,
doesn't matter." Amy's blush deepened. "And I know how special Mommy is
to you." <And me too.>
<Oh Lita...> Amy thought and gave her sister a hug.
"Hiyeeee!!!!" Raye shouted as she ran out to meet the
Anderson's.
"Hello girls," Chad greeted. "Man, Raye, Lita's spending the
whole night." Lita blushed at that. "Just slow down a bit." Amy first
and then Lita giggled as Raye danced around in agitation.
"Now you be good and I'll see you tomorrow at skating. Okay?"
"Yes Mommy!" Lita chirped and hugged her mother and her sister.
No sooner had she let go when Raye grabbed Lita's hand and dragged her
inside the main living quarters of the Cherry Hill Temple.
"Goodness, Chad, are you sure you'll be able to handle two
little girls?"
"I think Raye will calm down once she tells Lita her `news´."
"News?" Mrs. Anderson queried.
Chad grinned and shook his head. "Raye would never forgive me if
I told. Better ask her sometime."
"Aw... you ain't no fun," Amy complained then giggled at the
slightly stern look from her mother.
No sooner had they entered Raye's room than little priestess
turned to Lita and hugged her tightly. "Lita, you're the bestest!"
"Huh? Um... Thanks," Lita squeaked with a slightly bewildered
look on her face.
"Grandpa says he'll be Chad's daddy!" Raye squealed with
delight, "'N' Chad says he'll my daddy!" <But why don't Chad want me to
call him "Daddy"?> she wondered.
"Chad said he'd be your daddy?"
"Yep!" Raye was almost bursting with happiness.
"That's great!" Lita declared.
"Thank you," Raye squealed and hugged Lita. <You 'n' Serena are
so smart.> She promised herself to say a special prayer to Kami for them
tonight. "Let's play."
"Raye," Chad admonished, "Let Lita get unpacked first."
"Aw... Daddy..." Raye pouted and gave Chad a mischievous grin.
By the time that Serena and Reenie were dropped in front of
Molly's home, Serena was just as wound up as Raye was. "MOLLY!" Serena
cried out as she ran towards the older girl. She giggled as the redhead
bent down and swung her up and around for a moment before hugging her.
<We'll have lotsa fun!> It had been too long since she and Molly did a
sleepover.
"Where have you been?" Molly asked, "I thought you went away."
The little girl giggled again.
"Me not go away. I like you lots," Serena declared and gave her
best friend another big hug. "Sammy was mean to me."
"He was?"
"Uhuh, he got me all wet."
"Hi Molly," Reenie greeted the teen.
"Hi Reenie," Molly replied, "Come on in." After the three girls
entered the Baker home, she asked, "So, Serena, how did Sammy get you
all wet?"
"Sammy dropped a water balloon on her." The young girl smiled as
Molly made a show of looking shocked. "And I thought Aunt Ellen could
yell." Her Uncle Ken was just as capable. It was at this point that
Serena's tummy made itself known. Serena for her part blushed and looked
sheepish.
"Goodness gracious," the redhead exclaimed, "Maybe I should
order us pizza. I don't think Serena can wait." Serena blushed even
more.
"Pizza?" Reenie questioned, "Boy, you want to live dangerously."
"Why?" Molly questioned innocently.
Reenie grinned and cupping a hand around her mouth, mock
whispered, "Gives Serena gas."
"Does not!" Serena hotly retorted.
"Good thing I stocked up on gas masks then."
"Quit teasin' me!" the child whined.
"Am I teasing you?" Serena nodded. "Well then, maybe I should
take you in and give you a cookie. How does that sound?"
Serena's tummy said it liked that idea. The six year old giggled
again.
<This is so good,> Amy thought as she lifted another forkful of
food into her mouth and chewed. She appreciated Lita staying at Raye's.
She couldn't ask for a better sister or friend. One item troubled her.
<My scan shows that I'm still five.> The data also indicated that when
Serena had made her wish after the battle with Queen Beryl, Amy's
birthday had been shuffled. <I was born in the spring instead of the
fall.> Of her Scout friends, she was now the youngest. <I'm lucky to be
in the grade I'm in.>
"What day is it tomorrow?" Mrs. Anderson asked.
"Saturday?"
"And what happens Saturday?"
"Swimming?" Amy asked hoping that's what her mother wanted to
hear. "Mommy, can we watch a movie tonight?"
"Sure, dear," Mrs. Anderson said before asking, "But what else
happens tomorrow?" Amy shrugged. "Doesn't my big girl turn six
tomorrow?"
"Oh yeah," Amy replied distractedly. <Maybe I should talk to
Mommy about how I feel.> She had never really talked to her mother about
such things. <Mommy was always too busy and I knew school was special.>
She still believed school was important. However, Amy was having a hard
time sorting through her emotions.
"Is something wrong, sweetheart?"
"Huh?"
"Your birthday is tomorrow. You're gonna be a whole year older,"
her mother commented, "You'll be the same age as Serena."
"I know, Mommy," Amy replied calmly, "Kimmy was mad at me. She
said she wouldn't come to my party but then, she said she would."
"And why was Kimmy mad at you?" For a moment, Amy panicked and
then decided the best answer was a shrug. Deciding not to press the
point, her mother asked, "So what movie do you want to see?"
<Hmmm... now what movie does my younger self like?> Amy wondered
as she scooped the last of her supper into her mouth. <Oh! I know!>
"Oh, that's a nice one," HawksEye observed. He leaned over
TigersEye's shoulder viewing the photograph lying on the counter in
their private soda shop.
"A little old but she is cute I s'ppose," FishEye observed doing
the same thing as HawksEye, "But why this one?"
"Back off!" TigersEye snapped, his nine year old companions
moved away a little. "Because she is charming and won't be able to
resist me."
"A little old for you, ain't she?" HawksEye asked. "Maybe I
should try..."
"No way," TigersEye declared while batting the boy's hand away,
"You didn't have any luck with that old hag yesterday. Let a true
professional show you how it's done."
"But we have all failed to get Pegasus," FishEye interjected,
"Grandma Zirconia won't like another failure."
"I have a trap for Pegasus. Are you interested, TigersEye?" The
two children regarded HawksEye quizzically. A few moments later,
HawksEye unveiled his cage.
"Will that really hold Pegasus?"
HawksEye gave his companions a long look before explaining, "You
must know that Pegasus does not exist in this world." FishEye and
TigersEye gave blank stares. "He only appears when pure dreams are in
danger. I have filled this cage with Negaenergy. Pegasus won't be able
to get out."
"Oh, that is a good plan," FishEye commented, "It'll save us
having to look through more dream mirrors."
"Yes, but my trap needs bait."
"Bait?" TigersEye questioned then thought, <Yes, Molly Baker,
you will be my bait for Pegasus.>
As it turned out, Molly decided to go take the girls out for
pizza. She wanted to calm Serena down a bit; the little girl was
starting to get overly rambunctious. Molly hoped the walk over might
wear the child down. The meal was pleasurable and all three girls
enjoyed themselves, especially Serena. The youngest of the trio was
relieved to learn that Reenie's prediction was false -- pizza did not
give her gas. It was a good thing considering Serena considered pizza
one of the essential food groups, right next to chocolate, ice cream,
and kisses from Darien.
Now after having spent a few minutes at the park, Reenie was
lounging against a tree. Letting her gaze stray from Serena for a
moment, she saw Molly and Melvin kissing. Reenie rolled her eyes and
sighed a little. <Oh brother,> she thought as she watched the two teens
making strange eyes at each other. <Why did HE have to show up?> She
shook her head. Melvin hadn't appeared on purpose. He had simply been
walking through the park and had spotted Molly.
The pink haired girl turned her attention to her cousin who was
swinging on a swing in the playground, giggling the entire time. "You
hang on!" she sharply told the little girl as Serena waved. <All we need
is for you to get hurt.> She saw Melvin steal another kiss from Molly
before leaving. The redhead just stood and watched him dreamily. <Is
that what Big Sister does when she kisses Darien?> It had to be. That
was almost the same look that her mother had when she watched her father
leave.
"Come 'n' swing, Reenie!" Serena called.
"Okay," Reenie called back and moved to sit on a swing beside
Serena. <I remember being jealous of Molly.> Now though, things were
different. Reenie knew she'd always be Serena's big sister. <I just hope
Melissa doesn't come around.> She liked Melissa. After all, Melissa was
her best friend. But tonight, she was going to spend it with Serena and
it would be easier if her friend didn't appear.
<I don't understand this,> Mrs. Anderson thought as she dried
Amy off after the little girl's bath, <It's like she wants to be
babied.> Not that she minded but it was atypical for Amy's behavior.
<And the girls have been fighting... and Amy sneaking out.> She just
couldn't understand it, although in one way, she did like some of the
bolder traits that were appearing in her normally shy younger daughter.
Putting pajamas on and a robe on the child, Mary Anderson lifted
the little girl up and asked, "Now what if we make a snack and then
watch the movie?"
"Yep!" Amy cheered and snuggled closer to her mother.
<I've tried asking her if she and Lita fought again but she just
keeps avoiding the question.> She was frankly stumped. <I know they
sometimes want me to themselves. Maybe that's it.>
"Mommy?" Amy queried, interrupting her mother's thoughts, "Do I
gotta be smart?"
"What?" <That's out of left field.>
"Do I gotta be smart?"
"But you ARE smart," her mother argued.
"But they say I'm a bookworm," Amy countered, "I like to read
but they keep makin' fun of me."
"Who?"
"Well... Lita 'n' Serena," Amy said.
<Lita? Making fun of Amy?! And Serena?> This just puzzled her
even more. <I know Lita and Amy tease each other sometimes but actually
making fun of her?> It was hard to believe. <And sweet little Serena?>
That child was too empathetic to hurt anyone intentionally.
"Do you like being smart?" she asked her daughter.
"I dunno," Amy replied, "I guess so."
"Then you should be smart," Mrs. Anderson declared. Maybe it was
a good thing that Lita was spending the night at Raye's.
Mrs. Aino reached in and felt the temperature of the shower.
"Okay, Mina, you can get in," she told her daughter. Mina, having
forgotten about modesty, disrobed and walked to the shower stall. "You
have to be careful, Mina. I don't want you slipping," her mother warned.
"'Kay, Mommy, I promise," Mina agreed and moved into the stall.
"It feels like rain," she giggled as she twirled around. Indeed, it felt
like a warm spring shower. <This is sooo cool!> she thought, <I never
showered when I was little.> Well, there was a couple of times when she
was really little and her mother had carried her into the shower but
this was very different.
"I'll come back and check on you in a few minutes," her mother
said, "And don't play with the taps, all right?"
"Right," Mina chirped and gave her mother a salute. She giggled
then as Mrs. Aino smiled and left the bathroom although the door was
left open. <I thought Amy's birthday was in September. But hey, a party
is a party!> She could just imagine herself and Carrie at the party.
<Oh, I wish we had come back earlier. What a major bummer missing
Carrie's birthday.> They had missed it by about two weeks. <You know I
bet this place has great acoustics.>
After humming a few bars and satisfying herself of that, Mina
launched into full song, much to the horror of the three kittens that
were sitting in her bedroom.
Molly, Serena, and Reenie were starting to head back to Molly's
from the park when a young boy of about nine stumbled out of the bushes
and collapsed in front of them. The redhead let the younger girls' hands
drop and ran forward to see what was wrong.
"Reenie, go and call 911!" Molly ordered after a few moments,
"And then come back here."
"Okay..." Reenie said. She took Serena's hand and started
pulling the little girl down the path. She knew there was a payphone
nearby. "Come on," she insisted to Serena who was dragging her feet and
looking back over her shoulder.
"Reenie, don't you find that like kinda weird?"
Not stopping, Reenie remarked, "Yeah, I hope he's all right."
"Yeah but... that happened with Mommy too."
"What?" Reenie asked. She came to a stop and looked down the
path. It looked like Molly had the boy sitting up.
"Yeah, another kid about his age came out of the bushes and fell
down just like he did," Serena stated, "Then, Mommy got attacked."
Reenie felt a chill run up her spine. <That's really weird.>
Maybe it was just a coincidence though. <What the...> She had noticed
that Molly had jerked away and stood up. <That's even weirder.> "Into
those bushes," Reenie instructed. Thankfully, Serena complied and they
disappeared into the bushes.
"See!" Serena questioned when she saw the youth getting up and
looking angry. He advanced on Molly who retreated.
"Okay, I'll try to get the others," Reenie declared and lifted
her Scout Communicator up. <If he's like the other one, we're gonna need
all the help we can get.> Her heart started to sink when she didn't get
any responses. "What are they doing?" she muttered to herself, "Serena,
let's transform and then I'll try gettin' them again." She felt a rush
of urgency surge through her as the youth vanished behind a curtain and
TigersEye appeared. <Come on, girls, what are you doing?>
In the Anderson apartment, Amy Anderson was snuggled up against
her mother on the couch. She never even heard the beeping as her
communicator had been turned off.
In the Aino residence, Mina was trying desperately to explain to
her parents how the soft spring shower had turned into a raging torrent
of water that was still flooding the upper levels of the Aino home.
And in the Cherry Hill Temple, two little girls and two grownups
were locked in a very serious match of Snakes And Ladders.
In other words, the cavalry wasn't coming.
"Pegasus is not here!" TigersEye growled as he removed his head
from the mirror. "Why does it have to be such a beautiful dream? Damn!"
"Stop right there!" came the voice of Chibi-Moon, "For returning
evil for a lovesick girl's goodness! I AM SAILOR CHIBI-MOON, THE
CHAMPION OF LOVE AND JUSTICE! ON BEHALF OF THE FUTURE MOON, I WILL RIGHT
WRONGS AND TRIUMPH OVER EVIL, AND THAT MEANS YOU!"
"Ballo," TigersEye called, "Come out, my Lemure, and entertain
for us."
"Hi! Hi! Hi!" Ballo said as she rose up from the ground. The
Lemure was a blue skinned woman with a flashy red dress and a strange
red mark centered about her nose that looked like home plate. Its hair
was blue and was in a long braided ponytail that was set high on her
head. "Hi! Hi! Hi!" she called again, her wrists were surrounded by what
looked like giant pink balloons.
"Oh!" both Chibi-Moon and Sailor Moon cheered as they saw Ballo
juggling. They clapped happily at the display.
"Hi! Hi! Hi!" Ballo said again while throwing the balls she had
been juggling at the two Chibi-Scouts.
"Ah!" Sailor Moon cried, "I don't want 'em." She tossed them to
Chibi-Moon.
"I don't want 'em either!" Chibi-Moon cried and tossed them back
to Sailor Moon. For the briefest of times, both Scouts were juggling the
balls between each other and then, they lost the timing. First, Sailor
Moon missed one and then Chibi-Moon did.
"No!" they both cried as they watch in horror as the yellow
balls dropped to the ground and exploded.
"Hi! Hi! Hi!" Ballo chirped. She was now juggling flaming
spheres of fire. "Hi! Hi! Hi!" she added while pitching the spheres at
Chibi-Moon.
"Ouchie!" Chibi-Moon cried as one of the spheres came too close
and she got singed.
Sailor Moon, who had taken refuge behind a nearby tree, thought,
<What do I do? It's too strong!> Then it came to her -- Pegasus! Getting
the Charion Bell, she knelt and called out, "Please Pegasus, protect
everyone's dreams!" Standing, she swung the Charion Bell ringing it and
calling out, "TWINKLE YELL!"
The sky grew brighter as magical light washed over the area.
Ballo stopped in her attack and looked up at the form of Pegasus
appearing. She clapped happily and even TigersEye was pleased. While the
enemy was distracted, Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi-Moon hurried over to
Molly and tired to unfasten the unconscious girl from the board.
"Heh, you've fallen into my trap," TigersEye crowed when he
noted the Sailor Scouts.
"Trap?" Sailor Moon questioned. TigersEye snapped his fingers
and the two Scouts watched with horror as a cage swung up to enclose
them except for one end. "A cage... It must be for Pegasus." She watched
with horror as her dreamtime friend came towards the cage. "Pegasus!
Turn back! IT'S A TRAP!" Nevertheless, Pegasus did not heed her.
"NO!" both Moon Scouts shouted as the golden horned creature
entered the trap and the door closed behind him.
"Now!" the boy declared as he flipped the switch.
"Pegasus!" Chibi-Moon and Sailor Moon cried out as Negaenergy
formed within the cage. They and TigersEye watched in utter shock as
Pegasus flew right through the the bars of the cage and up into the sky.
"Why did I listen to HawksEye?!" TigersEye whined, "A mere
machine can't get Pegasus!" Raising his whip, the boy destroyed the cage
while shouting, "Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!" Seeing Molly still there, he
screeched, "Ballo, finish the job!"
"Hi! Hi! Hi!" Ballo replied. "HI!" she shouted and her right
hand was filled with deadly throwing knives. "HI!" she shouted again and
her left hand was filled with more knives.
"Ah!" Sailor Moon declared, "If they hit us, we're dead!"
"HI!" Ballo seemed to agree. She was just about to launch her
attack when a rose flashed in front of her and stuck into the ground.
"Oh..." she said and blushed while cupping her cheeks.
"Tuxedo Mask!" Sailor Moon and Chibi-Moon shouted.
"For disturbing the pureness of a young maiden's dreams, I will
not forgive you!"
"Damn you!" TigersEye raged. He became even more enraged when
Tuxedo Mask called him "Mr. Talkative".
"Now Chibi-Moon!"
"Right!" Chibi-Moon said and produced her wand after Pegasus
charged her attack, she shouted, "MOON GORGEOUS MEDITATION!"
"STAGE OUT!" the Lemure cried and vanished back into the
darkness.
Sometime later as Molly and her two charges entered the Baker
residence, Molly said, "Okay, girls, time for your baths and then I'll
read you a story."
"Yeah!" Serena cheered, and then asked, "You okay, Mol?"
"I sure am," she declared and bent down, "Because you're here."
She gave Serena a quick tap on the nose. Serena giggled and hugged the
older girl. "Reenie, what if you take Serena for her bath while I make
us a little snack?"
"Deal!" Reenie agreed and taking Serena's hand, went off to get
their bathing things.
Molly watched them go and then giggled, "But first, I'll give
Melvin a quick call."
