It seems that jmbickham@hotmail.com studied indept into martial arts and the
chi and ki. There are different meanings as to chi and ki if you are to look
into the context of how they are used in the language. There are certain
ways one can use the character chi and ki in a sentence and one would mean
the enternal strength and one would mean the external strength. One would
mean the strength within himself and other would mean the strength that
surrounds the person.

It seems that the jmbickham@hotmail seem to have seen lot of martial arts
style, I myself have studied various style for over 14 years and that
includes Jit Kun Do. I like Jit Kun Do the best because it emphasis speed
and also the movement of your whole body opposed to some martial arts that
are very restrictive in their body movements. However most martial arts
masters can adapt to opponents and do not stay in their restrictive forms. I
think jmbickham mentioned that some martial arts form forces the learner to
develop a patern that one would stick with and that can be read by the
opponents. That is true if you are a beginner or even if you are just a 3rd
or 4th degree black belts in certain arts. However, if you are devoted to
the art you will find the way to improve yourself in it and also why to get
out of the patern that you have formed.

Jit Kun Do because of the speed based techniques has a stands that is
performed with open hand. It is said that you don't make a fist until the
very point of empact for the speed and also the focuse of the power that
comes with doing that.

Tae Kwon Do is more restrictive than Jit Kun Do, however, it has incrediblely
vast kicking techniques and combinations that you can do with kicking
techniques that it is very hard to read the patern if the person actually has
a patern over those kicks.

The form that I took that really don't have any patern was Kick boxing or Mui
Tai. If you are just beginning, they drill you with forms and techniques
which may seem to make you develop a paterns, however, as you get better,
they encourage you, or rather forces you to get out of that patern or you
will get hurt.

I've tried taking many of the slower but more fluid form of chinese martial
arts, however, they were for me too slow and too relaxed. That was the
reason wuy Bruce Lee didn't really like Tai Chi, he knew it, but he didn't
like it.

Now as to the existence of Ki and Chi. Of course they are there. It allows
one to break a cinder block or any type of rock with their bare hand or even
their forehead. Ki and Chi also helps you to focus better and also
concentrate on the matter at hand. There are different explainations as to
how the chi and ki comes out or used by individual people. Some says that it
comes out through meditation or concentration, however, I think they have it
backwards. By using your Chi or Ki you can attain that meditative state and
by using your chi or ki you can better focus or concentrate.
