I was playing Super Robot Wars Alpha on my Playstation a few hours ago and suddenly had a thought:
What about writing fic based on the Super Robot Wars theme?? I mean, all the groundwork has been laid down - the technical stuff - the weaponary of the various robots, etc, etc.
Then, I realise something - Most of the series included: Giant Robo and the Getta and Mazinger series are quite "old". i.e Mazinger and Getta especially - seventies stuff - heck, I wasn't even born yet...
But the idea is basically the same: lotsa big "super" robots and "real" robots (Evangelion, Gundam, Macross [not Robotech] etc...) bunching together to fight a common enemy (all their enemies bunching together to conquer the world...>=) ). Actually the plot in the game was quite... okay... - except I had to rely on my electronic jap-chinese dictionary alot to understand it... ^_^
If taken correctly, a fic like this would be quite good...
I mean, just imagine all the cultural references you could slip into it... the "big hair" syndrome and the oversized eyes stuff found in the earlier giant robot animes... hee hee...
