Ahem, I  skimmed through the plot idea, and here are my thoughts:

first and foremost, I see the PC game Command and Conquer: Red Alert in here.  As in, the ending of the plot teaser is very similar to the ending of of Red Alert's introduction.  I think this was intentional, and I'm thinking that there are similarities between Evangelion and Red Alert after all.

As for the idea, I've thought about such a thing before, but in the sense that Shinji goes back in time to when his parents meet, and somehow prevents Gendo from becoming ... silent psycho man, after Yui dies.  This idea, as some might guess (or not), was conceived after I watched Tenchi in Love for the first time.

Er...sorry my comments couldn't be more structured so far.  I think that such an undertaking would be difficult and require extensive research, as I have tried (unsuccessfully and without all due effort) to carry out my idea.

I don't know of many who could bring out this idea, except maybe some people who have already succeeded, such as John Biles and/or Rod M (I love these guys, they're father figures to me), Toh Ee Loong (another father figure, but more of a mentor), or Andrew Huang (if he would just write faster!  This guy's fic is so slow and he's still popular, I think that says something).
