Gotham, hours after sundown, A small figure leaps up onto the wall running
around the mayor's residence. Silhouetted in the streetlights it is
wearing a small coat and hat but even though it stands on its hind legs it
does not seem to be human.
A moment later the figure leaps down from the wall and scurries through
the cat door.
Upstairs a Persian, the Mayor's long time companion, twitches an ear then
resumes it's nap next to Giovanni when it recognizes the visitor.
Giovanni waits for several seconds with hands folded, while Meowth takes
off and fiddles with his hat, then inquires, "Well?"
"Ah, sorry boss, I couldn't get back the videos of you and Mewtwo."
"Very well, I'm sure you did your best."
Meowth was certain that wasn't a complement, "But what about the senate
race?"
"I'm out, of course. The revelations on that tape might help me with
certain fringe elements of the party, but it will cut too much into the
base support. It's almost a relief to get that out of the closet."
"Then Misty's got a free ride for the senate?"
"No, I won't allow Mrs Ketchum to take such an important post. We'll run
James instead."
"But he's a nobody that nobody's heard of."
"Exactly, his negative rating is zero. A good place to start for the kind
of campaign we intend to run, but this time he'd best do as he's told."
"Boy, Jessie is gonna be steamed about getting passed over."
"It can't be helped, we can't afford a catfight at the debates. Now go
get your partners in crime so I can carefully explain this to them."
