I must admit I didn't get this until I saw one of the
commentaries, which made it mostly come clear, Ranma is in
Quantum Leap and is the designated leaper of the week,
trying to prevent the evil leaper from possessing Kasumi and
killing everyone else. This could be expanded in two main
ways either Ranma has seen the show and figures out what is
happening and will try to co-operate with his assistant or
he hasn't and thinks he's cracked from what he saw, in which
case he'll have to be hand led into what he must do and why.
Still I think the chance for Ranma to see what Ranma really
was like back then should be hilarious. One of the curses is
that we should see ourselves as others see us.
