Yay! More.

Yes, the C&C is a little late again. Blame my recent Ultima 9 addiction.

On Sat, 20 May 2000, Rhea Seraph wrote:

The desk clerk was a thin, long-haired woman dressed
in a silly looking dragon costume. "Hi! You're Minako's
friends, right?"

	"You're Konatsu, right?" Ami said.

	Konatsu blinked. "You recognized me?"

"Your head is showing," Tsubasa pointed out.

One would think that this joke would work better were Tsubasa the confused
one. ^_^

Konatsu began reading off the computer screen. "Kuonji-san
and Kurenai-san in room 301. Yamada-san and Hino-san in
302. Kikubi-san and Saotome-san in 303. Tenou-san with
Kaiou-san in 304. Chiba-san and Kunou-san have already
checked into 305. Urawa-san and Mizuno-san in 306.
Shampoo-san and Tsukino-san in 307. Meiou-san and Osaka-
san in room 308. Gosunkugi-san, you have 309 to yourself."

Were these assignments prearranged by someone, or were they supposed to be
random? They seem designed to cause conflict. Either someone was gunning
for trouble, or it's just Ranma's luck again. ^_^

"Well, if I stay with Haruka," Ranma began.

"We know what happened last time you did that," Rei
snapped.

And wouldn't it just be silly if that's who Ranma ended up with at the
end...

Ukyou and
Haruka dwelt in 307. Setsuna and Naru still dwelt in 308.

Used the word 'dwelt' twice consecutively.

Konatsu looked them up and down. "You're hiding a
character on your forehead, I bet."

'Cept he wwas wrong in the woman's case; she was hiding a third eye.

Yes, that was my first thought.

"Do you take coffee makers or karaoke machines as
payment?" Arthur asked.

I'm *so* tempted to make a Karaohki joke here, but I just can't figure out
how to fit it in.

Gosunkugi put a chip in it, then closed his eyes. "Good
luck in, bad luck out." He breathed in deeply, then slowly
expelled it. Remembering he was being watched, he looked
embarrassed. "Mom always told me to do that when I was
little."

"I think you're gonna win on this one," Ryo said.

He should have taken bets. ^_^

Gosunkugi pulled the lever. Five unicorn horns came
up, and a loud bell sounded. Chips began pouring out in a
torrent. "Wow! It worked!"

Ryo stared in double shock. Firstly, Gosunkugi had
gotten the maximum payoff.

Wait, wait, wait. 10^8:1 odds, and he wins. Just how rich is he now?

Naru found herself at a blackjack table with Setsuna.
She looked at her two cards. Ten of hearts and the five of
hearts. "Hit me."

*WHAM*

He bowed to Setsuna. "A pleasure to meet you. I am
Mr. Tom Clancy. Merely an humble dealer in fine goods and
antiquities."

Er, um. Tom Clancy?

"Are you two going to play or gab?" the dealer asked.

	"Gab," Naru said.

	"Just checking."

^_^

Ranma-chan frowned. She'd lost half chips in under an
hour.

How? You said in earlier chapters that Ranma was very good at cards, due
to his powers.

Ranma-chan's evil and good impulses did battle, and for
the moment, good won out, since Ryouga hadn't done
anything to bug her lately. "She's over there," she said,
pointing.

I have this odd image of two Onna-Ranma on each shoulder.

"So, I decided we would have to get Kurata Sana to be
our postergirl for the campaign. We had to slow the
soundtrack to half speed so anyone could understand her,
but then the music sounded awful, so..." The bore continued
to drone on.

That's actually not

"You explained that one day you'd marry the Queen of
the Earth and rule the entire planet, so I let you go ahead
and start putting up places as part of your bets."

Precognition? Or just wishful thinking?

"But you don't need him with me here, lovely one,"
Tsubasa said. He had gotten a ten down and a nine up.
"Match and raise two."

Everyone slid out two more to match Tsubasa's bet,
although they looked nervous.

Since when does everyone play against one another in Blackjack? Usually,
it's each player against the dealer. And bets are placed before the cards
are dealt. One doesn't bid after the cards are dealt. So, this scene
doesn't make sense. If you changed the game to poker, it's be different.

"I said, STOP IT!" Mamoru said, speeding up as he came
around. "Someone's going to get hurt!"

Er...he suggested it himself. What did he expect, thumb-wrestling? I
mean, this line is just silly.

Soon, to her shock, he was driving her back, right into
the pool. As she went down, she grabbed his legs and pulled
him in after her.

I'm of the opinion that Shampoo would turn him into a fine red mist. But
to each, their own opinions, I guess.

Usagi ran over to Kodachi, who was trying to get up.
"Are you okay?"

Doesn't check on 'Big Sister' Shampoo first?

"Last I saw, she was playing baccarat."

"Thanks." He wandered towards the hotel side.

I wonder who that was, she thought.

^_^

"Honesty is the best policy when it isn't a good idea to
lie."

	"Ahh, Amazon wisdom?"

"That's what Great-Grandmother always says," Usagi
replied.

"Then she say 'Put it in a bowl', but we never
understand what she's talking about," Shampoo said

Neither do I, unfortunately. I get the feeling that a joke has passed
right over my head.

"I've been hit by every sort of thrown sports object
there is," Gosunkugi said. "I managed to knock out Coach
Amano with a shotput. However, I have mastered the game
of Darts."

Guardian Pluto, with the special Shotput Knockout attack.

My hand will slip, and then I will die, Gosunkugi thought.

This line strikes me as hilarious. I don't know why.

Meanwhile, Naru danced with Mr. Clancy. He whirled her
about much more impressively than the others had. To her
surprise, it was very easy to keep up with him; he was a
good leader. "You dance really well, Mr. Clancy."

*sigh* I just got over my Rainbow Six addiction, and now this comes up.
Honestly...

She got an eight of hearts for the face up card.
Nervously, she peeped at her hole card, then showed it to
Ranma. It was the seven of hearts. The Gambling King had a
ten of clubs face up. "Hit me," Naoko said.

"Are you SURE that's a good idea?" Ranma asked.

	"Trust me," she said.

The Gambling King dealt her a six of hearts. "I stand,"
he said, grinning. "I'm afraid you've gone over." He flipped
his hole card, the ten of diamonds. "Twenty for me, and
you've gone blort.

Two issues here.

First, as soon as the Gambling King said "I'm afraid you've goine over.",
that was it. They know he was cheating, because the only cards that he
should be able to see are the eight and the six. So, A through 5 could be
safe. That's a pretty decent range, and in fact, considering that she
asked for a hit with only an eight showing, it's a pretty good bet that
her hole card is very low. As someone who's a good con man, he shouldn't
be shouting out his knowledge like that before she flips her cards, as
that'd give the whole game away.

Secondly, dealer always wins in case of a tie.

It's good writing, and good suspense raiser, but with the faulty rules, it
doesn't cut mustard. I'd revise it so that GK doesn't make his initial
interjection, just the following one.

"But...I dealt you the ten of hearts down!" he said. "I
spent hours stacking and resealing that deck!" Then he
realized what he had just said.

Why? Resealing a bicycle deck is incredably easy. So long as you don't
cut the flaps, you just gently open with a razor blade, and slide the box
out, stack the deck however one sees fit, slide them back in, and put a
very tiny dab of glue(enough so that it doesn't show). Instand 'sealed'
deck.

No, I never actually did this. There's a really neat book in my local
library called How to Cheat at Gambling, written by a guy in order to
educate people about misconceptions concerning cheating.

"Need me to move some furniture for you or
something?" he asked.

	"Something like that."

...

"!snamuh ot kcab stac eseht nruT" Still no luck.

Bless you.

"Flow Break! RECOVERY!!!!" Nothing. "DRAGON SLAVE!"
After a moment of silence, she said, "Okay, bad idea. Let's
see..."

Halloween! (Although I guess it does look weird, without the proper
context)

I keep forgetting gemstones are actually valuable
instead of annoying in this world, Feldspar thought. "Well,
Dad claimed it was Jade. He wasn't very happy with me."

'Jade' should be lowercase, unless she broke Jadeite's arm or something.

To her surprise, Ranma sprung to his feet. "I give up!
You want proof? I'll give you proof! I'll go sleep with ALL OF
THEM! Just to be fair and prove I'm not gay at the same
time! JUST WATCH ME!"

COF: The Lemon

The umbrella was now a scythe of black metal with a bamboo hilt.

Hilt? Does that word apply to a scythe's pole?

"PLUTO POWER, MAKE UP!" Setsuna shouted. She
transformed, leaving Gosunkugi staring in shock. The power
of her transformation deflected the green energy from
immediately around herself, shielding Gosunkugi and two of
the band members.

Only two? ^_^

And whatever happened to secrecy?

It shone
now with a faint green nimbus, and he could smell the scent
of pine coming from it.

The lost treasure from the Kingdom of Lysoal? ^_^

"I am Kunou Tatewaki..." His bokken went up like a
lightning rod. Silicon reared up on her feet to strike him
down from behind. "THE BLUE THUNDER OF FURINKAN HIGH!"
Lightning struck down behind him, pounding Silicon invisibly
into the floor. She passed out.

But Silicon can conduct!

"Ranma! How can you...WITH HER?" Rei's face was
beet red with anger.

Ranma has to fight it. He's got to get rid of their source of envy. He
should offer to sleep with all of them. ^_^

"Shampoo tell you Ranma is BAD NEWS!" Shampoo
announced.

How is this envy related?

"Shampoo sick of smart people who think she's stupid!
Shampoo say let her die!"

Setsuna said Shampoo was stupid? I thought that was Mamoru?

'Sometimes you must die in order to live,'

That make absolutely no sense.

"Don't mind me," Emerald said. "I'll just be running
away now." There was a flash of light, and then she was
gone.

I thought you just said s/he couldn't teleport.

He turned back to the game, then tired of it after
winning a few more rounds.

?! Never knew someone who got tired of gaining money. Then again, I
suppose that it's been proven that men don't get tired of losing money to
rigged games of chance, provided the setup is good, and people have to
stop at SOME time...

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I had been betrayed. "Tell me,"
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao," he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
