Chapter Two
Nobuyuki Masaki, father of Tenchi, uncle of
Ranma, opened the front door to his family's home.
"Yes?" he asked.
A young, beautiful girl stood on his porch.
Nobuyuki couldn't help but grin in admiration at
her unusual yet exotic features, strange clothes
and spiky pale-blue hair. "How may I help you?"
"Hi, my name is Ryouko! I'm looking for two
boys around my age. Their names are Ranma and
Tenchi!" she said. Strangely enough, she also
seemed to float, almost as if her feet weren't
touching the ground beneath her at all.
"Really? So you're looking for my son and
nephew, hmm? They're probably at school right
now..." Nobuyuki rubbed his chin. "Shouldn't you be
at school too?"
"Uh, I sorta just moved around here and I
don't exactly know where it is! They said they'd
show me the way, but they disappeared before I
could find them again." she quickly covered.
A strange predicament, Nobuyuki knew the girl
was lying through her teeth since there were no
other houses near his home. She was looking for his
son though, a cause worth celebrating. "It's down
this road!" he said cheerfully, pointing down the
road running alongside the lake towards the city
centre. "It's about a forty-five minute walk."
"Thank you!" Ryouko turned and began walking
quickly towards the way he pointed, if what she was
doing could be called walking. Nobuyuki admired her
some more until his own business returned to mind,
then he re-entered his home.
When the man was finally finished watching
her, Ryouko took to the air. "I have you both now!"
she growled mischievously, before speeding away.
Billy van Burace saw the people he was to
meet. They weren't too far away, but the sunlight
bothered his eyes and he couldn't see them clearly.
"Hey, what the hell are you two doing out there in
that desert?" he yelled.
The began to sprint towards him. A minute
passed. They had easily crossed the short distance
to meet him. Billy smiled at the girl. "I thought
only you were coming Ranko. Who's this guy?"
"My name is Tetsuo Ramsus, but call me
Ramsus. The orders were changed just before we
departed the base." Billy looked at Ramsus. "We
know the deal, you'll bring us to where we need to
go now and we give you what you want." Ramsus said.
"Hey, it's no problem. I got our ride just
over there." He pointed to a small hovercraft
behind him. "If we're gonna go, we should go now,
I've got something that I want to do back home."
Ranma and Tenchi walked towards the group
they had left behind. "That's really nice!" Cecilia
pointed towards Ranma's new sword. "Can I see?" she
asked. Ranma carefully handed her the blade. She
traced her fingers along the metal. "Hmm, wow! I
think this is mythral!" Her eyes were wide with
astonishment.
"Mythral?" Ranma blurted out.
She nodded her head. "Yes! My magic science
teacher showed us some just yesterday. This looks
like it's the same!" She handed back the blade to
Ranma. "You're really very lucky! Mythral is
supposed to be very rare and priceless!"
Tenchi compared his sword with Ranma's. "Wow!
Mythral, who would've thought?"
"That's the least impressive thing about
those swords!" somebody shouted high above the
group.
Everybody looked up and they saw a flying
girl. "Hi, I didn't properly introduce myself last
time. My name is Ryouko." She smiled cheerfully.
"Who?" Ranma asked.
Ryouko faltered. She glared at Ranma. "I'm
the one you met in the cave, remember?" Ranma and
Tenchi gasped. "So you two still have your swords,
huh? Well, I'm glad you kept them, cause I'm gonna
break them. They caused me a lot of pain, three
thousand years worth to be exact!"
Somehow producing energy from her hands, she
shot four beams towards Ranma and Tenchi. The two
boys jumped away from the energy. Small explosions
occurred on the ground wherever the energy touched
down.
Cecil held in his hands a small glowing ball,
it was a magic amplifier. He closed his eyes and
muttered a small chant, "Wind our ally. Please pick
us up." Ranma, Tenchi, and Cecil began floating.
"Even with that, you kids are still
outmatched!" Ryouko allowed some energy to gather
in her right hand. "If I take magic-boy out first,
you two will drop like stones!"
All the energy gathered in her hand shot out
towards Cecil, who was too busy concentrating on
keeping the floating spell in his mind to notice.
Before the energy could impact though, another beam
of energy impacted against it. Everybody was
surprised.
"Ranma, Tenchi! Just worry about the demon,
I'll watch out for Cecil!" Cecilia shouted.
Ranma smirked. Floating was an advantage for
him, so willed himself towards Ryouko in a flying
kick. He aimed for her head. Before he could impact
though, Ryouko flew above him and swung her light-
sword at the base of his neck.
Luckily, Tenchi was backing him up. Tenchi's
sword deflected the blow away. Ranma turned around
and kicked Ryouko on her side. The demon-girl
shrugged off the blow and punched Ranma in the
face, then she kneed Tenchi in the gut. Both boys
were stunned
With no opposition, she fired three bolts of
energy towards Cecilia, then she fired one bolt at
Cecil. Cecilia was too busy trying to stop the
energy bolts coming at her to stop the ones heading
towards Cecil.
Not bothering to watch Cecil be hit by her
attack, Ryouko turned around and gave Ranma a two
handed blow to his jaw. When her hands reached the
top of their arc during the follow-through, she
brought them down onto the top of Tenchi's head.
Then when the float spell dissipated with
Cecil being hit by the energy-bolt, the three boys
fell to the ground.
Cecilia, began firing quick shots of magic
energy at Ryouko. The demon only laughed though and
blocked Cecilia's shots with her hands.
Ranma and Tenchi slowly stood up. They saw
Cecilia was doing a good job of distracting Ryouko,
so they helped up Cecil and began running towards
the school. Cecilia quickly followed.
Ryouko smirked, she was having fun. She
quickly followed the three.
"Sorry, I'm not really strong at elemental
magic." Cecil said to Ranma and Tenchi. "If I were,
I would've been able to do more than simply
concentrate on a little floating spell."
Cecilia checked around the wall. She jumped
in fright. Quickly raising her hand, she fired off
two shots.
Two shots were returned. Cecilia rolled away
from the small explosion, but she wasn't uninjured.
Ranma helped her up. "Damn it! Let's get the hell
out of here!" he shouted.
Behind Ranma, Ryouko suddenly appeared. "Got
ya now!" she happily shouted. Ranma, with the tsuba
of his sword, dug into her gut. Having the wind
knocked out of her slowed her reaction to Ranma's
follow up kick to her head.
The kick only brought Ryouko back to her
senses though. "First you chop off my hands, then
you actually manage to hurt me! You really like to
play rough, don't you?" She fired a shot of
energy at Ranma.
Ranma dodged the bolt. Anticipating where he
would move to, Ryouko fired another shot hitting
him in the back. Ranma, forced forward by the
impact, was then punched in the head when Ryouko
suddenly appeared in front of him.
"My god, she can teleport!" Cecil shouted.
Her ability to appear and disappear wasn't
the biggest surprise in the room though. Ranma
dropped onto his knees and fell forward unconscious
from Ryouko's last hit.
Tenchi stood up when he realised the
situation had become bleaker. "You've done enough
Ryouko! Leave us alone!" He stood over Ranma's
insensible form, his sword held in defence. From
the position of Cecilia and Cecil, it looked as
though Tenchi's sword was glowing to some extent.
Tenchi also seemed not be touching the floor.
"Hmm? You remembered my name! How sweet!" She
looked at the sword. "What's this? It's beginning
to glow, as if you're a Jurain!" She then began to
chuckle to herself. "Oh won't 'she' be pleased!
Yosho's been sleeping around!" She again brought
her own sword to life. "But since you're getting
serious, I might as well too!" She brought her
sword down towards Tenchi's head. Tenchi brought
his glowing sword up to defend himself. The swords
connected.
In a small room in a small inn across the
city, Billy faced the two spies, Ranko and Ramsus.
"Are the accommodations to your liking?" Billy
smirked. "I thought only Ranko was coming, so I
didn't bother preparing a place for two."
Looking a second at Ranko, Billy asked
flatly, "Can I have what I asked for now? It takes
a lot of balls to betray your own state and I'm not
going to betray good ol'Atlantis for no reason!"
"I'm sure you've taken some time to make you
get what you want haven't you?" Ramsus replied. "I
can smell explosives..."
"That's an acute sense you have there, but
you're right. I love this country, I love the
people of this country. I hate the government and I
hate Emperor Heep." Holding out his hand, he seemed
to be expecting to receive something. "But I still
won't don't do anything I don't believe in."
A folder was placed in Billy's hand. "You
have what you want. Now please, the detonator."
Ramsus warned.
"I don't have it." The two spies immediately
moved towards Billy. "Whoa! What the hell are you
guys doing? I said there were explosives, but those
are the ones I'm supposed to give you! You guys are
the ones with the detonator!"
Taking the folder under his arm, Billy turned
around and began to leave the room. "Before you two
ask, I'm just gonna go get my friends to safety
before you do your stuff! Now good bye." He left
the room.
Cecilia ran out of the classroom. Behind her,
came Cecil carrying Ranma. Suddenly they felt the
room behind them erupt. Carried forward by a great
force, they all landed together in a pile.
Tenchi came flying out of the destroyed
class. Quickly righting himself to his feet, he
prepared for Ryouko's next assault.
The next assualt came from behind him.
Turning around in time to stop Ryouko's downward
strike, Tenchi then swept his leg across Ryouko's
legs and caused the demon-girl to lose her balance.
Cecilia felt somebody lift her up. "Who...?
Akane Tendo...?" She had forgotten about the rest
of the students in the school. "Where are...the
rest of the students...?" Her body hurt all over,
the explosion was incredibly powerful.
"Shh, we have to get out of here. The
school's in danger of collapsing." Akane lifted the
smaller girl through a nearby window. "Be careful
with her, she's really burned." Someone else picked
Cecilia from Akane's hands and began packing her
away from the school.
She watched Akane help Ranma and her brother
out of the school. Akane then helped herself
outside. When Akane had everyone gathered far away
from the school underneath a large willow tree, she
looked towards the school. It looked as though no
one else was in there. Cecilia asked her, "Is
Tenchi Masaki here, or is he still...?"
Akane didn't answer her question.
Tenchi was meeting everyone of Ryouko's
attacks, but he didn't know how he was doing it.
Ryouko would strike towards his left, he would
parry the blow and follow up with a counter strike.
He hadn't made any progress against Ryouko though,
she was too strong and agile.
Finally, as he was tiring, Ryouko sneered at
him. "Is this the best you could do? I thought you
could've been a challenge with your glowing sword!"
She raised her hand and fired a beam of energy
towards him. She followed her energy bolt with a
thrust towards his chest.
Using both his hands, Tenchi managed to
deflect the thrust, but he was defenceless against
the energy bolt. The bolt hit his stomach and he
fell over onto his behind. The demon girl then
kicked him in the head. After Ryouko kicked him in
the head, something else hit him there. He didn't
remember hitting the floor.
Everything was begining to crumble around
her. "Guess I went a little too far this time,
huh?" Ryouko looked at Tenchi, but found he hadn't
stirred since he had been hit in the head by her
foot and a loose ceiling.
"Damn! I wanted to destroy the sword, not
kill you!" Checking for signs of life, she found he
had a few. She sighed in relief.
The room they had earlier been fighting in
collapsed. Grabbing Tenchi, Ryouko tried to jump
out through the window, but was met by a wall of
flame. "No! I won't let him die! He's too young and
handsome!" She gathered an immense amount of energy
in her hand and fired it at the flame wall. It
split apart and the few seconds it would remain so,
Ryouko charged through with Tenchi's body.
In surprise, Akane raised her fists and
prepared to be attacked. When the girl who had
destroyed her school didn't try to fight her
though, she put them down. "Why'd you start a fight
around here? You could've killed someone!"
"Sorry! I wasn't trying to. I just wanted a
little fun! And I just wanted to see if these boys
were real men!" The spiky-haired girl giggled. "And
they were, especially this one!" She hugged Tenchi
strongly.
Feeling a little bit of pain and pressure in
his ribs, Tenchi awoke. "Humph?" He found he
couldn't talk. He found his face was pressed
against something soft. When he was sure what it
was, he began to struggle.
"Oh! Tenchi! You really know how to make a
girl feel needed!" Ryouko's giggle became a little
insane.
"What the...?" The voice of Billy van Burace
rang out through the school yard. "I'm only a
little bit late for school and it's been destroyed?
What happened?"
"She did." Akane, who Billy didn't know,
pointed at Ryouko, who Billy didn't know.
Billy did recognise Tenchi, but he was being
held by Ryouko. "Who are you? And how'd you destroy
the school? Are you some kind of monster?" He
reached underneath his coat. "Answer me! Who are
you? And let go of him!"
Whatever he wanted, he didn't find. "My ma-
guns! Cecilia didn't take them on me again did
she?" he whispered.
Freeing himself of Ryouko's grasp, Tenchi
jumped off of the ground. Immediately regretting
the sudden movement, he keeled back over clutching
his head. "Don't...worry...Billy...This is
just...Ryouko...She saved my life...I don't
know...why though..."
"Hey man, are you okay?" Billy helped Tenchi
back up. "You don't look so good. Where's everyone
else?"
"Doctor Tofu, my family doctor is looking at
them. They're all burned on the back." Billy looked
at Akane. "By the way, my name is Akane Tendo. I
sort of helped some people out of the school when I
saw Ryouko fighting with your friends. But anyway,
your friends are that way." she pointed.
"Thank you." Taking the finger's direction,
Billy walked away.
"Can I see the doctor too? My head really
hurts." Tenchi mumbled.
Ryouko glasped her arms around Tenchi and
squeezed tightly. "Oh Tenchi! Why would you need
some old primitive doctor when you've got me to
take care of you?"
A breath of air escaped Tenchi's mouth,
Ryouko's grip was incredibly strong. "Ryouko, can I
breath, please?"
Becoming a little tired of the weird girl's
antics, Akane followed Billy. When the two arrived
near the area Doctor Tofu designated as his
makeshift clinic, they found he was already
finished his work.
"So, are they going to be okay?" Akane asked.
The doctor looked up. A kind smile spread
across his face. "Yes, your quick action saved
their lives. If you hadn't pulled them out, that
building would surely have collapsed on them. Not
only that, but their burns are very serious. I can
only do so much, but I believe they'll be okay.
Their shrine, I've been told, has the nessacary
equipment to treat their burns within the day."
Saying hello to Billy, who introduced
himself, Tofu then said, "I do hope the person
responsible is still near. I want to have a serious
discussion with her. The seriousness of today can
not be repeated."
"She's where we left her." Billy said. "Can I
talk to them?" After receiving permission, Billy
walked over to Ranma, who had remained silent the
entire time. "Hey bud, you okay?"
"Just a little thirsty." Ranma replied, his
voice was somewhat raspy. "Where were you this
morning?"
"You know me, I was up to something serious."
Billy noticed a look cross Ranma's face. "Seems a
lot of important stuff happened here too, huh?"
Ranma smiled. "Yeah, first me and Tenchi
found those swords, then we found the mummy they
were stuck in..."
Ranma was cut off by Billy, "Whoa! What's
this about a mummy? I already know about the
swords, but you guys didn't say anything about any
mummy!"
"Couldn't really say anything about any
mummy...We found these swords in 'the' cave!"
Understanding passed over Billy's face, he was also
training under Katsuhito and knew of the shrine's
teachings. "Anyway, the mummy came back to life and
attacked us."
Akane and Doctor Tofu, nearby, listened
closely. When it seemed Ranma had finished
recanting the entire morning's events, Akane asked,
"Ranma, your friend Tenchi said he knew something
about Enuo, the man Kuno was talking about. Do you
think I can visit your grandfather? I'd like to
learn a little more about him."
"Sure, I guess. Maybe I'll go with you and
learn something too." Ranma shrugged. "Beats the
heck out of me why Kuno's going off his nut! I'd
like to know why."
Out of the corner of her eye, Akane noticed
the boy named Billy looking towards the sky.
Looking to where he was looking, she saw a flare
rise up and up, until the belief it would never
come down took hold of her. "I guess I'm too
late..." she heard the boy mutter. Sounds of
intense humming entered her ears.
