The FFML goes down while I'm away at ACen (very good
time there, btw-- thank you for asking), and once it goes
up, what do we find? Several people have not read the FAQ.
Shame, shame, shame on you.
In fact, a tempbanning has been placed on you for
posting a test message to the FFML, to give you time to
reflect your deeds. The matter is dealt with/being dealt
with now.
Also, to those who responded to the test messages on
the FFML, this too, is a not-nice thing to do, and you are
hereby reprimanded. Notifying the admins, such as myself,
is quite acceptable, and as for a private response to the person?
Well, not our domain. Posting it on the list? That's a no-no. It
merely adds to the spam already generated by somebody posting a
test message.
To those who sent a message to the admin address or to us
individually, you did the right thing by not sending it to
the list. I do not as of yet have a reason to give you why
the list went down, but one will be forthcoming.
NEW RULE:
After discussing it with both Alan and John, we have decided to
institute a new rule banning the on-list replying to Test Messages.
It is, after all common sense not to do so, a reply to a message that
should not be on the list is not something that should be on the list
either. Future violations of this rule can and probably will result in
a tempbanning.
