Actually, I think you have it the other way around.
Kiyone is not present in only one version of Tenchi
physically. She is there in all the rest.
Anyway, in the first OAV series, there is no mention
of her whatsoever, at least from what I remember. I
don't think she's dead or anything; it's just that
she wasn't "created" yet by the Tenchi creators.
But I'm no Tenchi fan so I don't know if that's
accurate.
In all the other regular series, she's there. This
includes the Mihoshi special, the 1st Tenchi TV
series, the Tenchi Universe stuff, the Tenchi in
Tokyo series, and the first 2 movies. I'm not sure
if she's in the 3rd movie; I can't seem to remeber
her doing anything there, but then the third movie
is practically just about Tenchi, Ayeka and Ryouko,
so I may have just forgotten. As you might be able
to tell, I'm not really a Tenchi fan.
