Prologue

I cant believe Ive been in this hell for almost two
weeks! cries Hiroshi. As he watches his team
excavate the land. The Siberian tundra, the last place
you would find an excavation team. The snow is
blowing so hard that it makes visibility next to
nothing. The coldness at least is bearable.

We found something! as the team frantically tries to
clear away the snow.

Hiroshi quickly goes over and helps with the clearing.
Pushing the snow away, he frantically tries to get
the snow cleared from the hole dug.

Im so glad that my lifes work is about to come to an
end. Hiroshi thinks to himself, pondering, staring at
whats in front of him. He still cant believe that
this is happening. After that day years past. He
reflects on how much that night changed his way of
life.

The Past

Walking out of the library carrying a ton of books,
Hiroshi decides to spend most of his night studying.
Wow, I always get carried away when I go into the
library.

Walking down the street he wonders what hell read
first. From the corner of his eyes he sees a blinding
light. As fast as he can, Hiroshi jumps out of the
way. Leaving his books on the sidewalk, luckily
landing in some bushes off to the side. From out of
nowhere two figures appear. Hes never seen anybody
like them before. He tries to listen in on their
conversation.

Where are they? The one has some type of battle
armor on. His hair stands straight up. He is short,
but Hiroshi knows this isnt somebody you mess with.

I dont know, I dont desire power like you. The
other guy is dressed in an orange outfit. His hair is
somewhat crazy too. Hes bigger than the shorter guy,
more built too, but that doesnt seem to matter to the
little one.

Youre a fool, if you will not tell me then I will
beat it out of you. I want my wish. Hiroshis eyes
cant follow the movements. In an instant they are
flying in the sky. The smaller guy shoots what
appears to be a ray up to the bigger guy. They
continue battling until Hiroshi cant follow anymore.

What was that about? He looks up to the sky to see
if he can see anything else. He gets out of the
bushes looking up to the sky. He walks over to his
books and picks them up. Heading down the street he
looks up occasionally.

Out of the shadows two figures ambush Hiroshi. They
punch him in the face, and then in the stomach.
Hiroshi falls to the floor, clenching his stomach.
The muggers take his wallet and his watch. They kick
him one last time before they leave.

Hiroshi lies on the ground, holding his stomach. Hes
been kicked around do many times, this is the last
time. His whole life hes been called the weakling.
Something snaps in his head. Not caring about
schoolwork anymore. Getting up, Hiroshi snaps. I
will make everyone pay. Wondering what those two
fighters were talking about wish and finding
something.

I will find out what they were talking about.
Vowing to get his wish made, Hiroshi picks up his
books that have been scattered. Still feeling some
pain he makes his way back to the library. He has
some research to do; he will get his wish even if it
takes him his whole life.

The Present

Hiroshis eyes widened at the image in front of him.
The entrance was made out of some type of crystal.
The texture was very smooth, but had a sense of power
to it. He has never seen anything quite like this
before. The crystal itself was transparent and
blended well with the snow. The carving on the
entrance is what really caught his attention. There
was a design of a dragon, a very powerful dragon. The
dragon looks as if it would leap out and rip his heart
out.

He stared at the carving for awhile till reality set
in. Everyone into position. Guiding everyone to
their assigned positions. They get out their
crowbars, slowly removing the cover.

The cover starts to move. With every minute he was
feeling more and more anxious. With each inch the
door was moving. Hiroshis feeling more excited. He
peered at the group of men struggling to get the
entrance uncovered. He thought that he should help
decided against it though. He has a feeling that he
will need to conserve his energy.

Finally removing the cover the men move it out of the
way. Walking to the beginning of the entrance, he
peers inside. Seeing nothing but blackness he
heighten his senses, trying to hear something. As he
could tell nothing was inside the cavern.

Get the lamp, Im going inside as he points to the
lamp over by one of his workers. The worker hands him
the lamp. Im going in myself, nobody follows. Get
back to the camp and get ready to pack up. When I get
back, were leaving. He looks over everyone to get
their acknowledgement of his orders.

Hiroshi takes the lamp, shining a light into the
entrance he looks inside the cavern. As he can tell
the walls are made out of the same crystal of the
entrance door. He looks at the ground, his eyes
follow the stairs spiraling down into blackness. He
lets out a few breaths and starts to descend.

As he descends he starts to think about the day when
he found the artifact telling him the story of this
place and what was waiting inside for him.

The Past

Deep in the mountainous regions of Japan, Hiroshi has
spent most of his waking days trying to find something
about what those men were talking about. He found a
legend of seven balls that when come together can
grant the person one wish. The legend though didnt
mention anything about where he could find them.

Reading about a remote cave around this area, he
decided to take his chances and come to this mountain.
Moving slowly, inch by inch determination drives
Hiroshi on. This area is very cold. With the altitude
and the temperature so low, the air becomes so thin
which makes the climb even that much harder to
accomplish.

He was halfway up the mountain since he started. His
body felt like it was on fire. Hiroshi has been
climbing for a long time. Feeling the affects of the
climb. If he stayed up here any longer he may do
something stupid. Quickly glancing around trying to
find a place where he could rest. He looks over in
the distance and spots a ledge where he could rest.
It was quite a distance away, but he should be able to
reach it.

Climbing in the direction, he slowly makes his way
over. Fatigue starts to set in, and desperation. He
knew that he wouldnt be able to make it. As he
frantically tries to climb to safety, but with every
movement his muscles are screaming in pain. Inch by
inch he becomes weaker. He knew that he should have
planned better. Not only was he trying to support his
weight, but his gear that he depended on also.

As Hiroshi inches closer to the ledge his hand reaches
out to grab hold of a small ridge. As his hand tries
to get a hold, he realized in horror what was
happening. The holding was breaking loose. He
frantically tried to get another holding, but it was
too late. The rock breaks free as Hiroshi starts his
descend to the ground below.

He starts to think about how cruel is life has been to
him. It couldnt end like this. He still had many
things to do.

WACK, CRACK, oomph! then blackness.

********
Lying on the ground, he opens his eyes slightly. A
terrible pain shoots through his body. His head is
throbbing, he knows that living is better than death.
Lying on his stomach, he slowly turns over and tries
to focus on his surrounding. Wincing and grabbing his
forehead in pain, he relaxes and tries to again focus
on where he is. He suddenly realizes that hes in a
small forest. How come I didnt notice this before,
he thought to himself.

Hiroshi slowly gets up trying to ignore the pain that
was shooting through his body. He stands up and
almost falls back down. Regaining his balance he
looks down to his leg, a new pain was taking control.
What he saw was a huge slit in his thigh, which was
bleeding profusely. He took his bag, which was lying
next to him and took out his first aid kit. He sat
down and took out the necessary dressing to treat his
wound. The pain from the disinfectant is unbearable.
He took out some linen and dressed the wound to keep
it from bleeding.

After he was finish he stood up and put the first aid
kit back in his pack. He slung his pack on, adjusting
the shoulder straps to make them more comfortable. He
starts to really look around. In the distance he made
out what appeared to be a path, he couldnt really
tell due to the fact that the trees blanket the sun.

Slowly walking towards the path, he decides to get out
his flashlight hoping that it survived the fall from
the mountain. He reaches behind his back and fumbles
around through his bag to get his flashlight. He
pulls it out and turns it on. To his relief it still
functioned. The area was so completely silent it was
eerie. Usually you hear some type of natural sound.
As he concentrates to hear something, he has a very
bad feeling.

Something isnt right here, he thought to himself.
Even with the pain in his body, he must stay alert and
focused. He walks to the beginning of the path and
looks at it. The path is made out of stone. He bends
down to examine it and gets back up. He lets out
breath and starts on the path, walking deeper into the
forest.

 The Present

Walking down the stairway for awhile, Hiroshi still
couldnt believe how warm this place was. He hasnt
been walking for too long, but it feels like he has
been hours. He knew that he was physically exhausted,
but right now the only thing that was keeping him
going was the dragon balls and how close he is now.
It was a good thing that he decided to remove some of
his clothing, or he may have passed out due to heat
exhaustion.

The stairway and the walls look the same; he was
amazed at how the whole cavern looks perfect. It was
as if people took care of this place.

After a few more minutes, Hiroshi finally came to the
end of the stairway, to his relief. He stood and bent
down, putting his hand on his knees. He had to just
wait a minute to grab his breath, he knew though that
going up was going to be far worse and he was not
looking forward to it. He gets up and looks around he
noticed that the walls were made out of a different
material. With hardly any light he couldnt tell what
that was though. What he did see with his lamp was
that there was a big entrance to a tunnel in front of
him.

As Hiroshi, as he takes a step forward all of the
sudden, Whoomph. The tunnel grew alive, as Hiroshi
could see the tunnel was lined with torches. What was
more spectacular was not the fact that the torches
came on for no reason, but what the cave was made out
of itself.

As Hiroshi, moved to one side of the tunnel he put his
hand on the wall, he couldnt believe it. Gold! I
cant believe that this entire cave is made out of
gold. Running his hands along the wall the gold has
a smooth texture to it and to his surprise its warm.

Hiroshi gets his composure back and starts to walk
forward. Walking further he notices carvings on the
wall and some written language. He knows this
language; its the same text that the scroll is
written from.

He doesnt bother to stay and read what the writings
have to say. He was getting this terrible foreboding
feeling that something was going to happen and he knew
he had to get what he came for and get out.

He runs down the tunnel now, occasionally glancing at
the wall. What he can see the carvings are telling a
story. He knows that he cant stop, his goal is
almost in sight. Stopping in his tracks, he stares at
whats in front of him.

******************

Outside of the cave the wind is howling. The snow is
picking up from the wind. Lying in the snow of the
camp are the members of Hiroshis excavation team.
Their eyes are lifeless and the snow around them is
stained red. Therere bodies everywhere, lying every
which way. A terrified expression frozen on their
face. Their throats are slashed; parts are lying all
around. From the bodies there is a trail of blood
leading to the entrance of the cave. The trail ends
at a lone figure standing in front of the entrance.

The person stands in front of the entrance, tall and
slender, but seems well built. Its wearing a black
hooded cape, which conceals its identity. In one hand
it holds a dragon shaped sword.

The sword is carved like a dragon. The mouth is at
the point and the tail forms the handle. The blade is
made out of some gold color material. The dragons
mouth is open at the tip. The figure has the sword
pointed down. The blood is dripping from the
dragons mouth as if it was just done with its prey.
The blood hits the snow causing the snow to stain.

The figure stares at the entrance, breathing slowly.
Apparently not affected by the cold and wind. It
reaches inside its cloak with its other hand and pulls
out a small device. The figure pushes a small button
with its thumb and places it at the entrance.

Smoothly turning around, it puts the sword back in its
scabbard. Walking away, not leaving a footprint
behind. As the figure is walking away there is a mark
on the back of its hand, a mark in the shape of a
dragon.

 The Past

Hiroshi knows that he has been walking through the
forest for about an hour now. Hes trying to focus on
anything that may seem out of the ordinary. Having
stopped a couple of times to rest and redress his
wound, he wasnt as tired as he thought he would be.
Up ahead he notices that the trees are starting to
thin out. This could mean that he is coming out of
the forest.

As he continues to walk forward he starts to narrow
his eyes due to the light starting to get brighter
now. As he comes to the edge of the forest, there are
two statues that stand on each side of the trail. The
statues are made out of jade it appears and they are
in the shape of a dragon. The dragon is sitting on a
stand. He examines the statue and looks at the
markings on the stand. He has never seen any markings
like this before. He turns off his flashlight, and
puts it away so he can get a better feel for the
statue.

Hiroshi spends a few more minutes looking at the
statue, admiring the workmanship it took to make this
great piece of work. The dragon appears to be so
lifelike. Im impressed he comments to himself. He
draws his attention from the statues and heads out of
the forest and into what appears to be a canyon. The
canyon curves to the right. He starts to walk and
when he walks around the bend. What is in front of
him makes him want to turn and run back the way he
came.

There is an entrance to a cave, but its what the
entrance looks like that frightens Hiroshi. He
hesitantly walks toward the cave. The entrance is a
carving of a dragons head. The cave goes through the
mouth of the dragon. He heads for the cave, as he
approaches the entrance he notices the detail of the
dragons head. Hiroshi steps into the dragons mouth
and looks down. He was stepping on the dragons
tongue, looking up he examines the fangs that line the
dragons mouth. Getting out his flashlight, he enters
into the cave.

As he walks into the cave, he starts to look around at
the different markings on the cavern walls. Walking
for a little bit further. He shines the light forward
and sees another dragon carving at the end of the
cave. He continues to walk forward and examines the
carving. He looks closely and sees that the dragon is
holding something in its claws. A scroll? as he
looks at the scroll, he notices that there is a faint
barrier around the scroll.

He reaches up and tries to take the scroll. As he
does this, the eyes of the dragon carving open up and
beams shoot out. The beams go into his eyes and they
lock there. This happened so quickly that he couldnt
react in time. The beam stops and the carvings eyes
close. He stands there dazed for a few seconds and
tries to regain his consciousness. He looks up at the
carving and then at the scroll and he notices that the
barrier is gone now. He takes the scroll from the
claws and as he does this, the cave starts to shake.

Hiroshi does not take a minute longer. He starts to
run towards the entrance of the cave. He notices that
the cave is really start to shake and debris is
falling all around him now. Hes about to get to the
entrance and running faster the mouth is starting to
close. He runs as fast as he can. As he approaches
the exit he dives and rolls. As he does this, he
barely escapes the closing of the mouth as it shuts
with a thunderous shake.

He rolls and gets up. His leg is in considerable
pain. He looks down; his leg is bleeding again. This
does not matter to him though; he is just lucky to be
alive. As he unrolls the scroll, images appear in his
head. These images are racing and he drops to the
floor, screaming from the pain that its causing his
brain. As the pain subsides he realizes what has
happened to him. He takes the scroll and unrolls it.
He looks at the writing and understands what its
saying. He would never have figure out what the
writing said before. He starts to read and then a
small grin appears on his face.

Finally I will get the world to understand and
respect me. YOU WILL ALL RESPECT ME! he says as he
screams it to the sky.

He packs the scroll and heads back the way he came,
this time with a renewed will in his life now.

The Present

Hiroshi looks at the tower. When he was running down
the corridor he was struck by the power of that which
is in front of him. A tower, which looks to be, made
out of the same crystal material that the entrance
cover and the staircase was made of. The tower was
standing in the middle of a huge room. The tower rose
about fifty feet in the air. He could feel the power
and magic just flowing around the building.

Hiroshi rushes over to the entrance of the tower and
goes in. There is a stairway leading up, as he races
to the top his mind wanders on what will he find at
the top. His anticipation is growing as he gets
closer to the top. There is a door ahead of him. He
goes through the door and stops.

After all these years, my journey is finally over he
says to himself with relief.

He walks over to a crystal stand and looks at what is
displayed on it. Theres an orange ball with one star
on it. The ball fits in the palm of his hand.
Picking up the ball, he looks at it smiling. Then a
frown comes over his face. Where is the rest of
them. Looking around, he realizes that this is just
one place theyre hidden. Youre telling me that
this is just the beginning.

As he was thinking this * Boom * the ground starts to
shake violently. The shaking subsides quickly. What
the hell was that?! It sounded like an explosion.
Looking around the room. He shakes his head, I hope
everything is alright up at the surface.

Hiroshi knows that something bad is happening.
Looking at the ball one last time, he puts it in a
pouch he had on him.

Heading towards the direction the explosion came from.
Hiroshi already knew where it came from though. He
runs down the corridor in the direction of the
stairway. He reaches the staircase to go to the
surface, stopping he drops to his knees and covers his
face with his hands. How did this happen? What
could have done this and why? He questioned this,
while his whole body is trembling. He was so confused
and terrified. He didnt know what he was going to do
or how he was going to get out.

Hiroshi regains his composure getting up off of his
knees and stares at the destruction in front of him.
The whole staircase is destroyed. The walls are
cracked; the crystal is blocking the stairway
entrance. He tries to move the debris, but it was no
use. He was not going to the surface this way.

After a few minutes Hiroshi turns and walks back
towards the tower. As he passes through the corridor
he starts to look at the walls, reading the scripture
on them. It tells of the balls, Seven! There are
seven balls. Hanging his head in disgust he continues
reading. It tells the history of how they were
formed.

He walks back to the tower. He knows that the only
way for him to get out is to find something that may
lead to a secret exit. He starts at one side of the
room and examines every inch of the wall. Going to
the back wall he notices that there is a hand imprint
in the wall. There are no details in the hand, just a
generic imprint of a hand. To the right of the hand
is some writing. The writing says:

Place your hand upon to be judged. If the guardian
finds you worthy you shall leave and continue on

Well isnt this just great. Either I put my hand on
this imprint and possibly die or stay here and die a
slow death. Sarcastically saying to himself.

Hiroshi closes his eyes and puts his hand on the
imprint. He feels a surge of energy swelling up and
through him. He opens his eyes to see that his hand
is blue and there is a blue glow flowing all around
him. He tries to take his hand off of the wall, but
to no avail. This goes on for another minute then the
glow stops. To the left of him a part of the wall
slides open. He takes his hands off of the wall and
walks to the new exit.

He stops looking into what seems to be a corridor.
Well better start moving. Saying this he starts
walking into the tunnel.

The tunnel is lit up with torches, but the flame of
the torches is blue. The walls are ordinary rock so
this tunnel must not have been built to impress
anybody. The light gave the tunnel a very ominous
feel to it. He stays alert, he didnt know what was
lurking in the shadows and he couldnt afford to lose
his concentration. Too many things have happened to
him now.

Hiroshis probably been walking down the passage for
awhile now. He has been walking down the tunnel
earlier for only a few minutes until it led to a
stairway. He walked up the stairway for sometime,
they led to another tunnel heading in the opposite
direction and from what he can tell back in the
direction of the camp.

As he continues walking he notices a light up ahead,
to his surprise. He was expecting it to be nightfall
already. The sun is high, Hiroshi knew that he had to
get shelter before nightfall or he could possibly
freeze to death. He curses himself for leaving in
clothes. He should have better prepared himself.

Hiroshi walks to the end of the tunnel and what it
appears to be is some type of magical shield. He
stops in front of it and puts his hands through the
shield. His hand passes right through and his fingers
feel the cold outside. He finishes by putting his
whole arm right through the shield. He brings his arm
back in and takes a deep breath.

Hiroshi passes through the shield. The shield is
making his skin tingle from the touch. As he passes
through the gust of cold air hits him and almost
knocks him out. Tired from everything that happened
today, he doesnt know how long he will be able to
last in this weather without shelter. He knows that
he has to run and hope that he can make it to camp in
time, before he freezes.

Hiroshi starts to run, but first he turns around to
get a look at where he came. All he can see is a
mountain face where he came through. The barrier
wasnt there anymore. The barrier must act like a
two-way mirror. You can go through one end, but the
other side masks the shield. He turns back around and
runs toward the direction he thinks the camp is in.

The cold air is making his body numb. Hiroshi knows
that he cant last very much longer. The wind is
blowing with him so that works in his favor, at least
somewhat. The air is so cold that he cant feel a
think on his body.

Hes starting to slow down severely now. The cold is
getting the best of him. In the distance he sees
something. T-the c-ca-amp he could barely get
enough strength to talk. He gets a little more energy
back and tries to hurry.

Hiroshi enters the camp, as he looks on in horror. In
his mind, he will never forget the scene in front of
him for as long as he lives. As he looks, every
single member of his team is dead. Not only have they
been killed, but mutilated. Who or what could have
done this to them. He walks around camp, everything
has been destroyed, and the living quarters, supplies,
clothing. As he could see nothing was spared. The
camp was a destructive wasteland. Hiroshis grief
takes control of him. As he looks around his legs
buckle underneath him and he falls to the snow
trembling. NO! he yells as loud as his voice will
allow.

Hiroshi gets up and stumbles around the camp. The
cold is quickly setting in again. He starts to look
around for anything that may keep him alive. The sun
is starting to set and he knows that he must find
clothing to keep himself alive for the night. To his
luck he finds a jacket some extra pants that appear to
be undamaged

Looking to the west, he only has maybe an hour till
the sunsets. He combs the snow trying to find
something that will let him survive the night.
Looking around he notices something sticking out of
the snow. A tent! He runs over and starts digging
it out. Pulling it out of the snow he looks it over.
Looking undamaged he starts to put it together.
Getting it up before the sunsets he gets in and zips
up the tent.

Darkness falls around him now as night sets in. The
winds blowing like a banshee. He can still feel the
cold, but he knows now that he will survive the night.
Lying in the tent he ponders on what has happened in
his life so far. Is it worth it, taking out the ball
he looks it over? The power behind this ball. Any
wish he wants he will get. Putting it away, he feels
the exhaustion set in. Not fight it Hiroshi falls
asleep, safe from the cold night.

********

The sun is rising, Hiroshi opening his eyes. Sitting
up he stretches his arms. Crawling out of the tent,
he looks up to the sky. The sky is blue, the wind is
blowing and the suns rays are reflecting off of the
snow. The wind is gusting pretty good taking some of
the snow with it. He gathers what he can around the
camp that wasnt destroyed. He packs what is left in
a bag and swings it over his shoulder. He looks at
the sun and starts to get his bearings. He knows that
the nearest town is east from here. He looks at the
sun and starts to head in that direction. He knows
that once he gets to the town that he will be able to
radio for help. He starts to walk east with a two-day
hike in front of him.

Walking into a canyon, he must be cautious whoever
killed his men and destroyed the entrance is
definitely after him. Looking around at the Ice
formed canyon he cant let that bother him. Walking
on he knows now that they do exist and maybe he will
get his chance to become great.

Up on a ledge above Hiroshi is the figure looking down
on him. The wind is blowing its hooded cape around as
if its alive itself. The figure is squatting on its
toes while its arms are resting on its knees. It
gazes down on Hiroshi, in an instant he lunges down in
front of Hiroshi.

Hey get out of my way. I have to get to the nearest
village. Then horror came across Hiroshis face as
he watches the person pull out a sword. Waving his
arms, There must be something you want. Theres no
need to use that.

Without a word the figure with blinding speed runs up
to Hiroshi and drives the sword into his stomach. The
sword is driven through the body, the edge of the
sword sticking out of Hiroshis back. The snow is
staining from the blood gushing out of his body.

Pulling the sword out, the figure reaches into
Hiroshis pockets and grabs the little bag containing
the dragon ball. Bringing his sword back, he takes
one full swing, cutting off Hiroshis head. The
movement was so quick the body stays standing for a
few seconds till it drops lying motionless on the
ground.

Wiping the blood from the sword on Hiroshis clothes,
the figure looks up to the sky. Trying to sense
something. Putting its sword back in the hilt and
fastening the bag to the belt. Looking back up to the
sky in a specific direction. The figure takes to the
air flying at a furious pace.

On the ground lies the body that once was Hiroshi.
Not only does Hiroshi die, but his dreams along with
him.
