So, for those of you reading this, I'd be most grateful
if you'd be harsher than usual with your C&C.
Well, I'll try, though your recent misfortunes make me somewhat
reluctant.
This section seemed very episodic. The individual scenes
aren't bad, themselves. Most are funny. The problem is that
they're just disconnected from each other.
You still have a lot of characters about whom I don't know
why I should care.
Not sure what I'd recommend: longer chapters, issued farther
apart? This has its own problems. Accelerate the main plotline
faster? At the story's end, that might seem inappropriate.
I can see where, _many_ chapters later, this chapter might be
good and appropriate. At the moment, however, it isn't advancing
the plot any, as far as I can tell.
The ancient and honorable job of sidewalk superintendent
is pretty much a universal one, known to all mankind. The urge to
stop and stare at a building being constructed, demolished,
or renovated rests deep within the breast of every human on earth.
This overstatement just stopped my reading in its tracks.
Sometimes, people are just too annoyed by construction to care,
and do their best to get by the construction as quickly as possible.
