Hello!
I had this weird idea, and I did some thinking,
and, well, here's an outline of sorts, or rather some
background.

Divergence: Ukyo wasn't left behind,
or rather he managed to tag along.
Genma decides to visit Nodoka, in order
to leave Ukyo behind there. Nodoka finds
out about the engagement and approves.
Ukyo's overjoyed. Ranma doesn't know
what an engagement is, and couldn't care
less even if he did. Waitasec, Ucchan's a girl?
Genma is not happy. Soun's already working
hard to create a respectable dojo, it was
Genma's duty to make sure there could
also be a respectable master there, but
with women around there'd be no way
to give Ranma proper training!
Genma goes to drown his sorrows,
and meets a troubled mr.Kurenai, whose
son had been showing unnatural interest
towards her mother's(/sister's?) clothing.
Genma gets a *bad* idea. He tells mr.
Kurenai that he can make a real man
out of his son, if he were allowed to take
the kid on a training trip, oh, and how
about engaging him to a daughter of an
old friend of Genma's?
And so it goes.
Next morning, the Saotome household
awakens, and find's Genma gone, and
a letter left behind. In the letter he tells
he has found someone else to train to inherit
the Saotome-Ryuu, since under the circumstances,
Ranma can't be trained to be any good anyway,
he leaves Nodoka to take care of Ranma and Ukyo.

Soun is informed about the change of plans, by Genma.
(Does Tsubasa meet the Tendo's at the same time?
probably not...)

Ranma is hurt, sad and angry. Papa left him behind,
'cause he wasn't good enough! Ukyo is glad that
Genma's gone.
Ranma tries to sneak away to go after Genma, but fails.
Ranma sulks, practices like a madman and wants to go on
a training trip too.
Nodoka gives in, besides Ranma *was* supposed to become
the greatest martial artist anyway. The house is sold, and
Nodoka, Ranma and Ukyo leave on a training journey.
Ukyo's not happy with it.
The yatai is used to support them along their travels.
---
The beginning of the story should be the usual,
coming from china, etc.
---
Tsubasa, age sixteen, is short, wiry, has long hair on
a ponytail, (or pigtail, if the dragon's whisker was eaten.
I prefer the ponytail. Then again, maybe Genma now has
a full head of hair.)is headstrong and has something of a temper.
he's also cute. ^^ Think Cloud from FFVII ^^
he detests Genma more than canon Ranma ever did, e.g almost
as much as some fanfic Ranmas do. ^^
He's still a crossdresser, or rather would want to, if given a chance.
Even more than in canon, since female clothes remind him of time
B.G (Before Genma.) They make him feel better.
He has an angst level close to Ryoga's, and has the tendency to be
introspective, or just sulk. Since his behavior screams "wounded",
Akane might actually be drawn to him, since he's not exactly intimidating
with his small size and cute face.
In martial skills, Tsubasa's very good. In pure skill, not quite as skilled
as beginning canon Ranma, but close. He's also more tenacious,
a bit faster, and alot sneakier. In a fight, he doesn't go easy on anyone.
He has pride on his skill, since, even more than Ranma, it's all he has,
(in the beginning) Even if he didn't want it.
His training was incredibly harsh, since Genma intentionally went harder
on him than he woul've gone with his son.
Wears chinese-style clothes, but more along the lines of "Once upon a time
in china". Likes flashy and stylish clothes.

The type who walks the thin line between a good guy and a bad guy.
---
Ranma, age 16.
The not so stoic warrior, although he has a certain Ryu Hoshi - thing
going on. Seeks to reconcile with his father, preferrably with his father
saying:"I was wrong, I'm sorry, you're a great martial artist." Doesn't
verbally boast much, but has the tendency to go for flashy things in a
fight.
A great martial artist, but not much else. Since he had Nodoka and Ukyo
with him, he isn't as good a cook as in canon. Doesn't act cocky; since he's
fought with many other people, is more aware of his own abilities than in
canon.
He *knows* he's good.
Very good at reading opponents. Doesn't know the plethora of insane
techniques that the canon Ranma does. He's refined an unique style
from the basis of Anything-goes midair combat; he prefers to keep himself or
the
opponent in the air as long as possible. A monster when it comes to
analyzing
styles and attacks, or developing counterattacks. (Think along the lines of
how
Kenshin fights).
Usual clothing: Gi, bracers and a ponytail.
---
Nodoka:
Has developed from the beginning; She's a martial artist's wife, and another
one's
caretaker. Doesn't usually wear a kimono. Perhaps an okonomiyaki sellers
outfit?
They've probably expanded the menu, though...
Ranma's 'medic', also. Is somewhat worried about his son, especially since
he's getting old enough to marry.
---
Ukyo:
Is not happy with the situation; By now, he expected to have a restaurant,
with Ranma
working alongside with him. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to show any
interest towards
taking a culinaristic profession.
Still cares about Ranma, but love?
------
Plotting:
Genma vs. Ranma, as well as Tsubasa vs. Ranma are obvious.
There are no bad guys.
Both Ranma and Tsubasa don't have much of a life, and left alone,
might destroy each other.
That's where rest of the cast comes along.
Akane, Kasumi.
Nabiki'll probably make things just worse...
But she'll also make the two think.
Ryoga.
Kodachi.
Curses;
Tsubasa and Genma are cursed, obviously.
So's Ranma. Just not by Jusenkyo.
Tsubasa, Ranma and Genma; all of them need to grow up.
Dreams don't always come true.
But, with people, you can make them.

This idea is up for taking, since I'll go offline tomorrow.
