More power to you. I suppose, and I've said this before, that a lot of it
boils down to style. Staying detatched is mine. Getting emotionally involved
is, if I'm to understand you correctly, is yours.

It may be a mistake on my part, but I also think it gives me an edge since
because of that detatchement, I am willing to do things to the characters
that those more emotionally involved might consider completly insane.
I have to tell you, I'll do that to the characters anyway. Favorite or not,
it's fun to go into their minds and screw with them.
I am not insulted by your comments, though I do feel like I have to at least
say something. Fanfiction is an art. It's written by... fans! Yes, fans. We
put our hearts and souls into it, and we do it because we love that
particular anime.
I write comedy fanfics. I don't like sap, though I'll read it, I don't
like dark, though I'll read that too. WAFFy makes me sick, but I've been
known to read it. I'm such a flexible person!
But some fanfics are so damn good you don't care what it is, you just
read. The Amazon and the Money-Lender is one of those. I usually pretty much
only read either yaoi or comedy, but this one just keeps me reading. Hell,
it's yuri, too. Ohohoho.
I'm just saying, fanfiction was made by fans for fans, to make what we
want happen in the anime happen! If I wrote about an anime I'm not a fan of,
it'd be horrible. I mean, let's say I decided to write about Lodoss War. I
don't like that anime, but I know a few characters.
Let's say Deedlit and Parn are walkin' around in the woods and suddenly a
rabid squirrel falls out of a tree and mauls them both. Parn kills the
squirrel with his nifty sword. Parn and Deedlit fall into eachother's arms
and make out wildly before they have wild, passionate monkey love.
Okay, not really. But close. But there you have a suspense/romance fic. ^_^;;
By the way, thanks for the link to that fanfic. I'm gonna have to read that.
I actually kind of agree with you on a certain level, but I like to write my
fanfiction, so I'm gonna keep on making my favorite characters have a fun
time.
