Subject: [FFML] [C&C] Synopsis List Review for April 14

Hiya guys and gals!

Well, after recovering from the aftereffects of writing ALSW
Y2K (i.e. vomiting, insanity, orange juice dependence), I
have finally decided to get this out of the way.

And this also marks a change in C&C policy. I will be doing
unsolicited out-of-SLR private C&C. The moment this hits
I go hunting! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well, to be blunt about it, it's the bad/terrible writers who need
the C&C, not the good ones. I mean need as need badly
and most people should know the difference between need
want. And most likely the bad writers don't get C&C except
probably for flames :-( We should acknowledge the fact that
these people need help. And need help bad.

So I'm going to try and help them out.

And don't worry, private C&C from me doesn't mean you're
all that bad. I'll still send C&C to the people I owe them to
and to the really good writers.

So let's begin then.

Diclaimer:
All opinions are mine. If you don't like 'em, send mail to me
and we'll discuss your fic. Okay?

Review:

Yahoo! Another excellent chapter of Drunkard's Walk!

I loved the chapter and this is obviously the start of when things start to
really heat up. And the final scenes were very cool.

Keep up the good work!

Review:

Well, it seems Sean's formatting is alright. And no really big glaring typos.
Pretty clean.

And I am finally getting to enjoy this fic. ^_^

Anyway, there are still a few inconsistencies like calling a she a he and a
few missing commas. Look it over again.

Keep up the good work!

good chapter of a good Patlabor fic. People have to write more

Series Summary:

Take 5 minutes from episode 26 and make it into a continuing series? No
way! Can't be done! What if I put a VR Eva game in and lots of
hormone-driven teenagers talking about sex? Not enough? How about a
love triangle? Ah, now that I have your attention:

Segment Summary:

Asuka blows big time and in every way. Hold onto everything you know...
because you don't know anything.

Review:

Once again, the sex-driven EVA fantasy world of Jim Lazar is on the
road again!

At least it's not angst-driven. ^_^

Anyway, another mind-bending chapter of a marvelous series. And
Asuka-dominatrix is a mental image that won't leave my mind for
awhile. ^_^

Keep up cranking these babies out, Jim!

on the Tilt-a-Whirl for three hours straight.

Segment Summary:

Angel one, two, three fourteen. Zeruel sneaks into Tokyo, despite being
a really, really large and ugly thang. Shinji eats almonds, which
induces much allergic torment--poor Shinji. Hilarity, stomach pain, and
property damage ensue.

Review:

Finally, after eons of waiting, the monster that is Neon Genesis
Evanjellydonut 4 has arrived. ^_^

And the grandaddy of Eva fanfiction, (Hey one of his fans called him that),
Andrew Huang, proves once again that there's a reason why they call him
grandaddy. Mostly because he drools and tells these really funny stories. ^_^

Well, not exactly drools...but hey, you get what I mean. NGEjd 4 is on par
with it's counterparts and proves that Andrew hasn't lost his touch.

And now the long wait for NGEjd 5 begins. ^_^

accidentally hurts his feelings. But why was it an accident?

Review:

The revised version of the earlier fic with the same title, this fic is a
more polished version of the two. It fixes some of the setting problems
and polishes the dialogue. Other than that, this is the same excellent
fic.

Hope to see more!

SEELE who want to preserve the secrets of the Eva Project.

Review:

Well, another interesting EVA fic and one of the better offerings of this
particular series, this is the prime reason why you shouldn't do drugs and
fanfics at the same time. ^_^

No, seriously, this is a nice fic, but the newer readers may have trouble with
all that's going on. But it interested me enough to check out the website and
I pieced everything together, so it's fine.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Segment Summary:

Rei attacks Rikyu and is winning when the Masaki household intervenes.
He flees and most of the warriors take to space to catch him. After
some maneuvering, the battle ensues.

Note:

Subject header of post reads: "[FFML] [Tenchi Muyo]Kiyone Muyo! [4]".

Review:

You know, my main problem with this is the little details. And your
style is too minimalist. Give us broader descriptions, show more of the
world. And the fact that you are quite good at the language is a plus on
that, though you have too many short scenes, jumping around. Mostly
my major complaint is when you change scene, don't just put in the
location on top of the scene. Describe and show.

Also your dialogue, though having its brilliant moments, is usually...
I don't know...cardboardy? There's the feel to it that I can cut it with
scissors if I wanted to. Try to liven up bothe the dialogue and set
descriptions.

Title: Another Large Crossover

Date Sent to FFML: April 12, 2000

Size: 16 KB

Series Summary:

The crossover is split into two types of sections, and then those
sections also have pieces. The story is split into 'pre' pieces and the
'body' pieces. Pre pieces are the bit of story that explain how a group
of characters got into a universe. The body is the main section of the
universe with the new characters.

Segment Summary:

This is one of a few prechapters for my large crossover of Tenchi,
Slayers, El Hazard, Ranma, and a bunch of my friends. This one is just
the pre for both the Tenchi and Slayers universes. I may add in Rurouni
Kenshin later on, but not likely.

Review:

Oookay, let me guess...you've been on the FFML for three or so months,
right?

You see... that's because the majority of writers on the FFML start like
this. ^_^

It needs polish badly. I dislike the formatting. The grammar's good. And
the concept is ... to be kind ... enthusiastic... and a bit of a cliche. I've
seen the Washuu-invention-starting-a-real-big-crossover opening quite
a few times and most of the time by the newer writers in the fanfic
community. I do _lurk_ around other fanfic places than the FFML, you
know. ^_^

What we have here is overenthusiasm couple with a lock of polish. And
again I say that you shouldn't start with a big crossover but start with
small works first. That doesn't mean you should stop writing this, my advice
is to keep it on your hard drive and work on it, while not releasing it for
awhile. In the meantime, develop your style and approach to storytelling
and think about your concept. Eventually the concept will evolve into
something coherent, because as I read this I don't know where the hell
this one's gonna go. Big crossovers like this have to have the thrust shown
immediately or people don't get it or lose interest.

Anyway, polish up is all I can say.

Series Summary:

The power of the Hellmouth has drawn Mara to Sunnydale. When the
goddesses learn of her location it becomes a race against time to stop
Mara from possibly unleashing a great evil into the world. But all is
not as it seems. Somewhere in the shadows someone is watching. And
everything is going as they desire. Can even the combined might of the
Norns and the Slayer stop Mara from destroying the world?

Segment Summary:

Mara finally makes her grand entrance into Sunnydale. And the first
person she runs across is no other than Oz. Meanwhile, in an effort to
find out what Mara is planning, Urd tracks down two very famous members
of the Buffy world. Oh, and did I mention there's a special surprise
appearance by someone outside both the Buffy and OMG worlds? ;)

Review:

One word: formatting. Most readers are quite finicky in their text formatting
and will not read works with abnormal formatting: no indentions, no spaces
between paragraphs.

Another thing: never drop in John Constantine without the English accent.
That's his trademark and you'll probably have John turn up at your door
and do something suitably horrific to you, once he gets out of prison of
course. And with the English accent, that means continual, not on and off.
And John would use bloody wanker not bastard. ^_^

Pretty nice writing though a bit sparse for my taste. Anyway, keep up the
good work and polish it up a little.

Review:

This ... is ... cool! ^_^ Sorry about that. The writing is incredible. And your
style fits this fic so well. And the wind motif that runs through the chapter
is somehow appropriate. I've read part one again and the motif of the wind
in the second part is a good counterpoint to the numbers motif of number
one. Dare I guess what motif would part three have? ^_^

And Kasumi is wonderfully...darker for this series. I must praise you for that.

Keep up the good work and crank this out faster!

I hate Lonko.

Not the character, though she is like a very, very, unpolished Ranma. The

Anyway, this is a pretty weird little fic. I'm used to second generation fics,

Review:

Well, another story arc for this series has finally begun! And what a
wonderful series it is. The style is definitely improving but still there is
always room for more polish.

A must read, starting from the first story arc up to now, it's worth a
a good many hours of reading.

Keep up the good work!

Review:

Okay, as always Mr. X's writing is very good. But once again his
concept doesn't do it for me. I just didn't feel the thrill.

But it is good writing and for other people who like this sort of stuff,
go for it. Personally, this isn't my cup of tea.

Review:

Let's just say that you style's a bit too minimalist for this style of fic. Maybe
that's because I'm spoiled when it comes to battle scenes and other
Ranma fics. ^_^ But, really this needs a big polish, though your dialogue
is pretty good and the concept is a bit interesting.

Summary:

A dark Ranma/batman fusion where Ranma isn't related to Bruce Wayne, for
once.

In the opening chapters, Ranma's life is destroyed when his pregnant
wife is shot and killed on their way back from a funeral. Grief-
stricken, he becomes a recluse and decides to take on the mantle of
Batman. Meanwhile, Kodachi becomes The Black Rose, an insane criminal
who is developing dangerous chemicals for her own amusement and personal
gain.

Review:

Oookay, another one of Sean's works. That should, in all essence, tell it all. ^_^

This isn't exactly bad, but it isn't either the pinnacle of perfection. It's a
pretty weird fusion, with Batman of all things, something that is not my
cup of tea. It does have nice touches, but still polish is always neccesary.

Another wild ride through the Battletech/Ranma universe courtesy of James
Austin Wilde. As always the detail is good, along with tight plotting and
excellent dialogue.

A definite must read for any fan of either universe.

Joy. He decides to press onward despite his still unhealed wounds.
Leaving the Pokemon village behind, he decides to follow his friends in
the hope of catching up before they make it off the island without him.

Review:

Well, Sewan does his stuff again. This is still a pretty unique thing. Not
a must read, but it may interest quite a few readers. The prose style and
the presentation is signature Sean D'Anna/Carrot Glace, and you know
what that means.

But still a fan of Sean's work will find this a great read.

Review:

Ooookay. Once again my bias against American comics and the NA
dub rear their ugly head. ^_^

Formatting troubles and add a little more polish to your writing style is
all I can say.

Anyway, the bloody writing bug has hit me and I've forestalled all my
othr fanfic works to work on the ALSW addenda essays: parts that
were excised from ALSW Y2K because, well they grew into really
weird tangents and some are quite offensive. But after having thought
about them I started polishing them up a bit.

So in a copule of days, watch out for my essay, "On The Neccesity of
Cruelty and Pain: An Examination of Character Torture by Authors",
and "On Lemons and Lesbian: An Examination of the Lemon Fanfic
Genre and Some Related Areas".

Until then,
