A Kaze Makase Tsukikage Ran shortfic

Wow, I didn't expect anything for this series for a long time. I've only
seen one untranslated episode of it. Good stuff!
And I didn't expect C&C for this stuff! ^_^
I've watched half of the series, untranslated, but that just put Nihongo
back into an almost high-school level again. It is a wonderful
series, my advice is to get a lot more episodes, so you get the
whole story, unlike me. :-(
I walk in, slipping my arms out of my gi. The rough
edges of my hakama sway in the slight wind that blew
lightly with my entrance, kicking up a little dust. The main
street was quite busy, merchants and townspeople going
about their businness.
Even from my limited experience with the anime, you have the character
down. I could see her clearly from this short excerpt.
Heh, Ran is probably one of the best characters I've ever played
with and I love her a lot.
And I personally think she can kick Kenshin's ass. ^_^
I wheeze, as always, after I drink it,
but everyone does that. And besides I haven't had sake in a day
now. Have to catch up on my consumption.
The wheeze plus the mention of consumption brings to mind TB for some
reason. Interesting, but I don't think that's what you're going for.
Unless you want to throw in a little Rose of Versailles feel...
Ack, sorry about that. It's a running joke in the series that Ran is an
alcoholic. As in as bad as Misato. I once saw an episode where Ran
was literally going nuts, having no money to buy sake. And her metal
sake flask is probably one of her more original weapons in a fight. ^_^
Ran:
Your sake costs thirty mon?
SO:
Yes.
Ran:
You've got one that costs nine mon? (hopeful look)
SO:
Nine mon? You couldn't buy loaches for nine mon!
Ran:
(sighs and walks away with a downcast look)
And she always wheezes after a drink.
When was the last time you looked at a man like that, Ran?
Never! I am Oscar Jarjeyes!
heh.
The thought had come out of nowhere that it almost made me
spill my sake.
Awkward sentence.
I agree, but I wrote this in ten minutes, don't exactly look for
Hemingway. ^_^
The last time I looked like that for a man was for Jun.
And a Nadesico crossover! When do we get to see Yurika, the goofy yet
intelligent gang leader?
Zanguro Jun was Ran's best friend when she was learning her sword style,
something I've started calling ichite ryu, since it uses only one hand.
Ran and Jun meet in one episode and the fireworks don't exactly fly, but
you get the sense they're uncomfortable with each other the way only
ex-lovers are.
Hope Jun and that geisha of his live happy.
Another awkward sentence.
Casual feel and the sake's getting to her again.

Always, me an Myao manage to arrive at places where our help was
me and Myao
Or, more properly, "Myao and I." But I think you're going for a rougher,
more casual feel.
Yup. Ran ain't exactly all that lady-like. ^_^
Maybe the kamis of the wind are guiding us? I am amused by
You pluralize is with an "s" here, but leave it as "kami" later on. I'd
say to stick to the latter.
Will fix.

Good stuff! Thanks for the fun read, it makes me want to see more of the
series. :)
Which is the reason some fanfics are written, young lady. I was planning
on writing an adventure for the erswhile "sisters", Ran and Myao,
something involving the fact that Myao is a Nekotekken, but I'll
probably wait after I finish the series when I finally get it on video.
I missed half the eps.! Damn RL! ^_^
Thanks for the comments and hope you get a chance to see the
entire thing!
