At last! We saw the njd fragment on the ML about 3 months back
and witnessed Droo-san's kidnapping by everyAyanami during the
1999 Chicken Ball Awards. But now, IT'S here.
Zeruel the Angel of Might arrives. More jokes about Gendo's
glasses. Particularly liked the speech that Rei gives before
going head to head with the Fourteenth Angel. All in all,
everything we've come to expect from njd and more. Of course,
that only means that Andrew will be inudated by requests for
Part 5 now.

I don't normally comment on ULTRA because I'm not familiar enough
with some of the characters used in it. But I really enjoyed the
way Rei kicked duck-ass in #40. The convention by which her speech
is rendered in lower case only is cute as well. Just wondering if
her victory had any consequences for Gendo's relationship with
M. Bison.
And I'm glad to say that I wasn't lost for much of #41. Asuka's
transformation ability into EVA-02 seemed particularly appropriate.
And Shinji attempting to intercede with Xelloss on his redheaded
friend's behalf was... interesting. But I'm waaaaay out of my
depth here.
'Uberbitch'

An adfic - i.e. a fanfic written like a commercial. The title
refers to Asuka's daily caffeine fix and the persona she takes
on thereafter. Doubtless it will enrage the Asukaheads but I
think it's HILAROUS! The Gendo/Fuyutsuki scene was cute as well.
'Evangelion - New Genesis' (working title)
Preview, Ch 1 Pt 1, Ch 1 Pt 2

An elseworlds where the NERV crew have taken on religious/
cultish trappings. A logical tangent to follow given the
quasi-religious symbolism in NGE.
The title. Hmmm. In the preview, it was entitled 'Neon
Gospel Evangelion'. Then someone must have pointed out that
'Neon Genesis Evangelion' means 'Gospel for a new age/world'
sooo the original title would mean 'new gospel gospel'. Hmmm.
Working title is now 'Eva - New Genesis'. Ooookay. The word
'Neon' which is Greek for 'new' has been substituted for the
English word. Hmmm. Probably could do with a snappier title.
The preview needed to be line wrapped at 70 characters or
less. We could also glean from it that Asuka will be marrying
Shinji in this continuity. We also see that John Biles & Rod
M's monumental 'Children of an Elder God' has had a great
influence - the curse of 'Langely' has struck again!!! (Just
a note to those folks who don't already know - I always pick
on that spelling error whenever a CoaEG part is released.)
Chapter 1 Part 1. The line wrap issue has been fixed. :)
We glean that Shinji is going to be assassinated in 2020.
That makes him 19/20 at the time of his death. The fic jumps
from past to present, back and forth through the occassional
use of records like recorded statements and interviews. The
author has been scurpulous with acknowledging his sources
and inspirations like Frank Herbert and Douglas Adams. Looks
like a good sign to me.
Chapter 1 Part 2. Shinji meets Misato and descends into the
Geofront. The teaser for Part 3 looks like something out of
ULTRA.
Looks like an interesting idea. My chief gripe is the way it's
been released. I realise that it's the author's prerogative as
to how he/she wants to release their work. However, I'm not too
keen on the idea of releasing little 7-8k bits as they're being
written. It makes the continuity hard to follow and a consequence
of that is that people may start to lose interest.
A suggestion. Perhaps the author could write a whole
consolidated chapter (after perhaps discussing the various
story bits with his/her pre-readers) before further releasing
it. That seems to work well for a lot of other people on the
list. Good luck.
