Prologue....

Since the dawn of time, there have been men and women with neither fear nor
mercy. Servants of Justice, sometimes knowingly, sometimes not, these souls
roamed the world, dealing out punishment and retribution.

But eventually, they died out when it seemed that they were no longer needed,
or perhaps society simply turned against them and their admittedly harsh
methods.

But now, In Tokyo, Japan, the first of a new generation of these individuals
is about to arise. . . .

"It's gone! It's gone!" Crow T. Robot yelled, staring at the control panel
for the Holocabana.

"What is?" asked Joel Robinson, as he released Tom Servo so that the smaller
robot could hover on his jets. Robinson was a lanky man, with a goatee and
thinning hair. He wore a brightly colored jumpsuit.

"My Evil Moon: Sins of the Sailor Senshi program!" The gold-beaked robot
cried.

"Maybe Doctor F. took it," Servo put in.

"Why would he do that?" Crow demanded. Servo did not have an answer.

"Dinnertime!" Gypsy called.

"You guys go on ahead," Joel said. "I want to get the counter organized a
bit."

"Okay." The two robots disappeared down the corridor towards the living
section. Joel watched his creations go and then began trying to get
everything neat and tidy.

As he worked, he began to get that feeling that he was being watched. He
looked up. On the other side of the bridge, a man sat in the battered easy
chair Joel usually sat in when he had insomnia.

The stranger had black hair, tanned skin, and wore a black jumpsuit. A CD-ROM
in a jewel case was in his hand; and even from across the bridge, Joel could
see that the label proclaimed it to be Crow's missing program.

For a moment, all was silent. "Who are you?" Joel said at last. The stranger
winked, smiled, then laughed chillingly.

Then he vanished.

Chapter 1

>From the beginning, Serena Tuziniko had been a. . .difficult child. In his
report, the obstetrician, sporting his brand new black eye courtesy of a tiny
flailing fist, had remarked that it was the first ninety hour delivery he had
ever seen or heard of.
*******
Control room of Juuban High's brand new computer controlled climate control
system........

"Serena! You're going too far!"

"Serena's rule number two of life, you can NEVER go to far, and I'm not going
to serve detention for something I didn't do."

"But you DID switch the delivery order so the University got the frogs and
the biology department here got the medical cadavers."

Serena looked over her shoulder at her neighbor and, on most occasions,
accomplice.

"I know that, you know that-"

"-I know that 'cause you made me make the phone call." Molly Osaka
interrupted.

Serena continued as though the redhead hadn't said a word. "But Dean Haruna
doesn't know it...or at least, she can't prove it. I'm not going to give her
time to wonder about it either." She turned her attention back to the
computer screen, where a worm program, crafted by Amy Mizuno, the school
brain, was working its way into the computer's operating system. Serena
grinned maliciously and retrieved the CD-ROM as soon as the program signaled
that it had done it's job.

"All done," she said and the two exited the small room and went back into the
main hallway. When they had reached the stairwell, she took out an object
that looked like a graphing calculator from her jacket. "Now for the fun
part." Humming a tune, she hit several keys. "Lessee, cafeteria. The
computer's divided it into four sections. . . .So, for section one, how about
some heavy moisture, eight degrees Celsius. Section two. . . .one hundred
degrees Fahrenheit, heavy moisture. For section three, how about something
tropical, yes. . . .and for section four. . . .hurricane force winds." She
laughed to herself and hit the final keys before putting the device away.
"I'm hungry. Let's go to the cafeteria."
*******
The cafeteria was a study in uncontrolled chaos. The conflicting climates had
created snow despite humid, warm conditions and the wind was scattering it
everywhere.

"I would hope you didn't have me go through all that trouble just to
entertain yourself like this." The blue haired girl next to Molly said
loftily.

"Why, Amy!" Serena protested in mock horror. "Would I do such a thing?" Amy
Mizuno gave her a flat stare. Serena gave her an angelic smile that seemed
slightly out of place on her face.

"Yes, you would," Molly grumbled. Serena moved away from the crowd, gesturing
for the others to follow.

"Okay. So?" Serena took out the control device and began keying in a new set
of instructions. "The 'Honorable Mister Furikan' spends half his time at the
golf course and the other half under his secretary. Haruna is the one who
really runs this school and she need to get out of her office once in a
while. Get laid, or high, or something." She fell silent for a while, her
brow furrowed in concentration as she worked. "There, She said in
satisfaction as she put it away. "Come midnight, Christmas comes early."
*******
The black cat watched the two girls leave the school and proceed towards
downtown Tokyo. This was too good to be true. Not only had Sailor Moon been
located, but Mercury too. The Ginzuishou would be pleased. Now all that was
left to do was to wake them up.
*******
"A moment of your time, ladies." Serena and Amy turned at the sound of the
voice. But there was no one around except a black cat curled up on the limb
of a tree.

"Who said that?" Amy demanded.

"I did," replied the voice.

"Who are you? Where are you?" Serena snapped.

"Up here in the tree." Both girls looked at the cat. "My name is Artemis,"
the cat said in a mild tone, "and I have a very interesting tale to tell."
*******
Some time later....

"So let me get this straight. Me and Amy are reborn creations of this
sentient crystal, and we're expected to bring death and destruction to the
universe? Cool."

"Its scientifically improbable." Amy said. "There is no proof of life on
other planets. How can we know that what you say is true?"

Serena's face took on a pained expression. "Amy. . . ."

The other girl looked at her.

"What?"

"You're asking for proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life," she
gestured at Artemis. "From a talking cat." Amy was silent for a moment.

"I still require proof before I will accept the word of a talking cat." She
said stiffly. Serena sighed and then looked at Artimes.

"She's got a point. Can you back this up?"

"Of course." Artimes backflipped and Serena felt a tingle all over as a blue
pen-like object appeared on the sidewalk. "Now. Serena, raise your hand and
say 'Dark Prism Power.' Amy, take up that henshin stick and say, ' Dark
Mercury Power'." He looked at them. "Well?"

Serena raised her hand and said the words that would damn her forever.

"Dark Prism Power!" Amy followed suit.

"Dark Mercury Power!"

And once more, the battle lines were drawn.

Part 2

The Negaverse...

Jadeite, Lord General of the Negaverse jerked awake with a start. The power.
Oh Mettalia, somebody had tapped into the Ginzuishou's power. That could only
mean that somehow, one or more of Senshi had been awakened. Swearing, he
reached for his clothes and once dressed, he went to find his fellow Lord
Generals.
*******
Lord General Nephrite was tall, muscular man. His long, chestnut brown hair
fell to his shoulders and his green eyes were flinty. He was not the most
powerful of the Four Lord Generals, but he was the oldest, smartest, and most
skilled. For those reasons, he had held the position of leadership among the
Four since Beryl had died.

"Gentlemen," He said, the single word bringing the meeting to order. "We seem
to have a small problem. He looked at Jadeite. "Jadeite will explain."
Jadeite stood.

"I'm sure you all felt the power strings surge with power earlier. As we all
know, that can only mean that someone has awakened one or more of the Senshi."

"What if new Senshi have been chosen?" Zoisite asked.

"Unlikely." Said Kunzite. "Serenity's final spell would insure that her
daughter and her four most loyal guardsmen would be sent forward in time."

"Jadeite." Nephrite's voice carried that note of finality. "Its up to you to
deal with the Senshi. Do your best to rescue the innocents they attempt to
drain. Kunzite. You and Zoisite will work on a way to locate the other Senshi
before they can be awakened."

"And what will you be doing?" Zoisite asked. Nephrite stood.

"You all have your orders." Nephrite snapped. "Dismissed."
*******
Serena-No. She wasn't Serena anymore, she was Sailor Moon, champion of evil.
She felt stronger, supercharged, and mean. She looked over at Mercury, who's
face showed the same thing. Both girls knew what they should do. So they went
and did it.
*******
The next day, the headlines proclaimed that a serial killer was on the loose.
Some sort of energy vampire had attacked and drained fourteen people within a
twenty square mile area. What had police baffled is that as near as they
could figure, the attacks had been within minutes of each other. Which meant
the attacker had to have been flying in order to move that fast.

"Not bad." Artimes said. He, Serena, and Amy were in a far corner of the
schoolyard, Serena had a paper she had lifted from the teacher's lounge.

"Well we didn't fly, but it sure seemed like it." Serena said, grinning. "I
can't wait until tonight!"

"Don't go out tonight, stick to your normal routine. We don't want to
establish a pattern." Artimes said.

"What are you talking about?" Serena said, a dangerous look in her eye. "We
could lay this city to waste! Who'd be around to track us then?" Artimes
sighed.

"There are those who have the power to stop you. You must avoid allowing
yourselves to be locked into a pattern until you have stolen enough energy to
destroy them in one attack."

"I see plenty of energy right over there." Amy said, waving her hand in the
direction of the school.

"Negative." Artimes replied. "They are looking for you even now. If you two
lay waste to this school, they will know where to focus their search."

"So?" Serena sneered. "Let 'em. I'll drain them too."

"You will NOT." Artimes snapped. "I'm in charge here, and I and I alone will
tell you WHEN and WHERE to indulge your psychopathic urges."

"Oh yeah? Who died and put you in charge?" Serena said. Artimes sighed and
then his eyes began to glow. Immediately, Serena felt the life force begin to
drain from her.

"I did." Artimes's voice was soft, almost grandfatherly. "Remember that your
life is no longer yours, but the Ginzuishou's, and until it arrives, I speak
for it. Is that clear?"

"Yes." Serena gasped out. Artimes said nothing, he merely waited.
"Yes...Master."

"Very good. You learn quickly." The cat's eyes stopped glowing and Serena
felt her strength begin to return. But the expression on her face clearly
said that Artimes would pay for that. The cat's expression said he didn't
care.

"So now what?" Amy's expression had remained unchanged.

"As I said." Artimes noted. "We lay low. My partner Luna is seeking out the
others, and once we're all together, we will lay waste first to this planet,
then the Negaverse, and then ladies, we will make the universe, bleed."
*******
"Stupid Cat."

"Well, he is in charge Serena."

"Not for long. All I need is for his guard to be down for just a second and
I'll break his furry neck. Nobody humiliates me-Oof!" Serena looked up at the
young man she had bumped into. He was, as best she could tell, about nineteen
and the jogging outfit he wore spoke of his excellent physical condition.

"Oh. Sorry about that." He said as he helped her too her feet. "My fault, I
should have been watching where I was going." He flashed her a smile and
continued on his way. Serena watched him go.

"Make a note Ames, next time we go hunting, let's make an effort to find that
guy."

"Why?"

"Because. He's cute, and as future ruler of all creation, I think I deserve a
harem of sorts. He'll make a nice start."

"And when you tire of him?" Amy asked. Serena shrugged.

"Drain him and ditch him."

"So you do have this planned out." Amy said, her voice heavy with sarcasm.
"That's a relief. I thought perhaps you were making it up as you went along."
Serena opened her mouth to reply when her watch went off.

"Oops. Almost forgot. Gotta meet someone." Serena said, and ran off, leaving
Amy alone.

"She obviously has it all thought out." Amy said to a pigeon which had landed
on the sidewalk, even as a corner of her mind pointed out that she was
repeating herself. "'Drain him and ditch him' is a plot worthy of Machiavelli
himself." She started walking towards the library. "How could I have ever
doubted her?"
*******
There was a legend in Serena's neighborhood. Rumor had it that the developer
linked his house and that of his mistress together with a pair of tunnels,
which led to a small, underground apartment. There was also a third tunnel
leading to a secret exit in the park on the next block. The problem was,
nobody knew which two houses had been linked or where in the park the tunnel
exit was. The developer and his mistress were both dead, shot by her husband
and his wife while exiting the theater. To this day, the apartment remains
undiscovered.

Almost.

Serena's fingers found the hidden latch and pulled, releasing the catch and
causing the rock to slide to the side, revealing the stairs leading
underground. Moving quickly, she descended the stairs, pausing only to pull
the rock back into place.

At the bottom, she proceeded along the short corridor to the apartment.
There, waiting on the bed, naked as the day she was born, was her other
neighbor, lover, and friend.

"Hello Bunny." Mina Anio said softly and held out her arms. Serena smiled and
went to her.

Part 3

Two nights later. . .

"Serena, Amy, meet Lita and Raye, a.k.a. Jupiter and Mars, respectively." The
white cat paused for a moment. "And my name is Luna. They work for me." For a
moment, there was silence, the only sound was the waves breaking against the
support posts for the dock.

"So anyway." Lita, a tall, amazonian brunette said. "Who's left?"

"Venus." Luna said.

"A Senshi of love?" Raye, a raven haired teen asked. "What the hell do we
need a Senshi of love for?"

"There are reasons." Luna said. "But I doubt you'd understand them."

"Try me, you talking wad of cotton."

"That's enough!" Artimes snapped, his voice cracking the air like a whip. "We
have better things to do then fight each other."

"Like killin." Lita's grin was almost one of sexual excitement. "Lots of it."

"Raye and Luna broke you out of the loony bin, didn't they?" Serena teased.

"How did you know?" Lita said, smiling.
*******
The glass window shattered, heralding the arrival of four sailor suited
females.

"Hidey Ho!" Jupiter yelled. "Supreme Thunder!" The electricity rocketed off
her hands, shocking the partygoers, and ruining hairdos.

"Ladies and Gentlemen." Sailor Moon said, stepping forward. "Allow me to
introduce myself." She struck a pose. "I am Sailor Moon. Champion of
injustice and wronger of all rights." She indicated the other Senshi. "My
associates. Mars, Jupiter, and Mercury."

"W-What do you want?" Asked one of the partiers. Sailor Moon grinned as the
Senshi started forward.

"Your energy."
*******
One of the partiers was a young man. He was of average height and build. His
hair was slicked back and he was clean shaven. His name, as it appeared in
the guest book, was Jed Ight. An investor from Hong Kong.

Pushed backwards by the crowd, he kept his eyes on the Senshi. One by one,
they drained energy from their victims as they advanced. The tall one in
green, seemed to enjoying the pain she inflicted. What's more, she was coming
straight for him. Assuming an air of calm, he waited.
*******
Jupiter grinned as she advanced on the pretty boy in the suit. He looked just
like her old boyfriend.

That realization brought with it memories of a man's face, fists colliding
with her arms, stomach, legs.

The Hospital.

The one for crazy people.

She wasn't crazy.

Then came the memories of the pills, the needles.

The laughter.

The voices laughing at her.

The voices she heard. They were laughing at her. They were all laughing at
her. But she knew a way to make them stop laughing.

She would make them all stop laughing.

Grinning, she threw the first punch. Her target, however, wasn't there. She
caught a flash of movement and then something smashed into her with all the
force of a freight train. She bounced across the floor. When she looked up.
The pretty boy had changed clothes. He now wore a military uniform of some
kind and his eyes were flinty. A dim memory pierced the fog of her
drug-numbed mind.

The Dark Moon Kingdom. This man standing over her. She knew his name.

"Jadeite." Another voice said before Jupiter could speak.

Mercury dropped the body of the person she had been draining. "Long time no
see Jadeite." Her voice was flat. Cold. Calm.

"Mercury." He looked at Mars. "Mars." He inclined his head, his tone sounding
oddly regretful as he spoke the Senshi of Fire's name. Mars glared. Jadeite
flung his hand out and a wave of force smashed a hole in the wall.

"Go!" He roared at the partygoers. They looked at him, fright in their eyes.
"Go! Go now if you wish to keep living!" Like stampeding cattle they fled,
sometimes trampling each other in their haste to leave. Jadeite looked back
at them and smiled. "Be seeing you." He said, and then, he too, vanished.
Leaving four very frustrated Senshi and a room full of dead people.
*******
Weeks passed. Jadeite continued to interfere with the Senshi's plans even as
Luna and Artimes searched for the fifth Senshi while the Senshi continued to
strike at random targets. Nephrite grew more and more withdrawn, spending
much of his waking time shut in his lab, leaving Kunzite and Zoisite to the
burden of governing the Negaverse.

As the weeks began to turn into months, the Senshi grew more bold, adding
robbery and arson to their activities.

Months passed, the came closer to Earth, and Jadeite found himself under
more and more stress as he tried desperately to be in four places at once.

And all the while, Tokyo burned.
*******
"Gentlemen. I believe I have a solution." Nephrite said as the meeting
opened. "We must find and awaken Queen Beryl."

"What?"

"But she's dead!"

"How can we possibly awaken her?"

"I have not been idle these many months. The stars have informed me that
Beryl has been reborn and where I can find her."

"Where?"

"In the body of an Earth Girl. In Tokyo." Over the table, an image of a
red-haired girl appeared. "Once Beryl has been awakened, we can once more
access the power of Queen Metallia. If that isn't enough. . .we have one more
option. . ."
*******
Molly Osaka awakened with a start to see the man standing at the foot of her
bed.

"Who?"

"Awaken. . ." Was all the man said. Molly gasped as a door opened in her
mind, and Beryl awakened.

But there was no way for anyone to know that Nephrite had just made a very
big mistake. . .
*******
"All Hail Beryl, Queen of the Negaverse!" Jadeite shouted.

"All Hail Beryl, Queen of the Negaverse!" The other generals shouted back.
Beryl, who was quite possibly the purest soul in the universe, smiled as she
assumed her throne. She gazed over the faces of her generals, all in full
dress uniform. There was one missing.

"We felt it unwise. My Queen." Nephrite said, answering her unspoken
question. He is. . .unstable and I feel it is best to let him sleep until
such time as we can set him on the Senshi's trail."

"You are Senior General Nephrite, it is your decision." Beryl said. She was
about to say more, when a youma burst in.

"General Jadeite!" It called. "I-" It broke off as it realized Beryl was
sitting on the throne. "My Queen." It said, bowing. Beryl acknowledged the
gesture with a nod.

"What is it Spydera?" Jadeite said, turning back to the youma.

"As per your orders Lord General, I stayed in the vicinity of the battle to
observe the Senshi. One of them, Sailor Mercury, was adressed as Amy, so I
followed her back to her home."

"Could you point her out again?" Asked Nephrite. "Even in her civilian guise?"

"Yes. Lord General." The youma replied.

Nephrite snapped his fingers, re clothing himself in human garb.

"Where are you going?" Zoisite demanded.

"To a small town named Exodus in the American State called Massachusetts, on
Earth." Nephrite replied. Then he vanished.
*******
Part 4

Sailor Moon grinned as she drained the youma of all its energy, reducing it
to dust.

"That was fun." Jupiter said dryly. "Well, I've got to get back. Kenny poo
gets lonely if 'Mistress' isn't there when he wakes up." The others left,
also making similar excuses, leaving Mercury alone.

Crouching, she gathered some of the dust for analysis before detransforming
and beginning the long walk back. There was a great many things she needed to
consider.
*******
She was walking past an old deserted office building when an arm snaked
around her neck and dragged her inside.

It was pitch black. Amy couldn't even see her hand in front of her face.

"Who's there?" She called out, even as she slid her pen from her sleeve. The
answer was a low chuckle.

"I need you to do me a favor" The voice said from behind her. Amy whirled.

"What do I look like? A Good Samaritan?" She heard the chuckle again and then
a boot slammed into her midsection, making her double over. She felt gloved
fingers take the pen from her unresisting fingers.

"You look like Sailor Mercury in her civilian form." Amy felt herself being
grabbed by the front of her shirt and pulled to her feet.

"Who are you?" Amy demanded.

"I'm Azarite." Came the whisper. "And I want you to do me a favor. . ."
*******
Serena, Raye, Luna, Artimes, and Lita found Amy curled up in an office
building. She had been beaten. Badly. Spray painted on the far wall was a
name.

"Who the hell is Azarite?" Lita asked.

"A shadow." They looked at Amy. She was sitting up, her eyes glazed. "He
wanted me to do him a favor." She giggled.

"He is so dead." Raye vowed. "I'm going to tear him to shreds."

"Get in line Raye." Lita said. "I get him first."

"We're all going to get him." Serena said.

"Vengeance later." Artimes said. "Your first priority is getting Amy to the
hospital." They nodded.

"Right."
*******
The next evening....

Raye shrugged into the oversized T-Shirt she used as a nightgown. Her heart
still burned with cold rage at Azarite. Amy had woken up. She didn't really
remember the beating, but she did remember that he had taken the pen before
beating her.

The act of a coward.

Raye hated cowards.

The flicker of movement was her only warning as the shadow exploded from the
wall and slammed into her with enough force to make her see stars.

"Heads up!" called a voice as blackness claimed her.
*******
"He's taking us out one by one." Serena said quietly as they watched the
Paramedics load Raye into the ambulance.

"But why is he doing it this way?" Asked Lita. "And why paint 'Anytime,
Anywhere on her wall?'"

"Its a message." Serena replied. "He's letting us know that he knows who we
are, and that he can get to us whenever he wants to. It's standard scare
tatics. We're supposed to become unnerved and scared. That in turn will break
us up when we start snapping at each other."

"Divide and Conquer." Lita said, nodding. "So who's next?"

"You or me." Was the reply. "But don't worry, I have a plan."
*******
Jupiter walked down the street, the long raincoat she had borrowed from
Serena's father wrapped around her. Artimes had shown her how to remove the
Tiara, earrings and choker. Without those, she looked like an ordinary
person.

The original plan had called for her to be shadowed by Sailor Moon. When
Azarite showed up, they were supposed to double-team him.

Jupiter had vetoed that idea. She didn't need help to take down this Azarite
character.

She didn't need help for anything.
*******
She had been ready for it when the arm snaked around her throat and tried to
jerk her off her feet. Grabbing the arm, she twisted her upper body, jerking
her attacker off his feet and slipping out of his hold.

Whirling to face her attacker, she found herself face to face with a teenager
probably no older then she was. He wore a Negaverse general's uniform with
black gloves and he was looking at her with a puzzled expression.

"Did you really think we wouldn't plan for you after you jumped Raye?"
Jupiter asked. He blinked stupidly.

"Well. No." He flung out his hand, the black lighting arcing from his
outstretched hand across the short distance and into her, driving her back.
Snarling, Jupiter gathered herself and lunged across the short distance with
the intent of driving her fist through his nose and ripping out his brain.

It would have worked too, if he had been there. Instead, her fist met empty
air as a sharp pain exploded across the back of her head. She turned. Azarite
was standing there with a morning star in his hand. She felt the back of her
head and then looked at her hand. The fingertips were red with blood.

Her blood.

Jupiter became very upset at that point.

(Author's note: In case you're unfamiliar with medieval weapons, a morning
star is a weapon from the Middle Ages. Its a type of mace, fairly brutal and
useful for skull bashing.

For those of you who like specifics, it comes in two forms. The first
consists of a spiked metal ball attached by a chain to a short metal shaft.
This is the version Azarite used

The second is a club, five feet in length, its head studded with iron spikes)
