Nerima Knights

By Jeremy Evans

DISCLAIMER: I do not own the character or situations used in this work.

Manchester Alabama was a fairly boring small town where
hardly anything exciting every happened. At least that was the
case up untill two years ago, when a man named Max Crandall
showed up with a nephew named Bart Allen. Young Allen was
quickly shown to lack something very important. And that was
judgment skills. Bart never seemed to think about the
consequences of his actions, he just did them. To many it
seemed as if he'd missed that part of life that taught all
kids that doing certain things could cause pain. Only a few
knew just how right that statement was. For young Bart was
actually the grandson of the former Flash, Barry Allen. Born
in the 30th century Bart was gifted with his grandfather's speed
abilities. While still a baby he was taken from his mother and
raised in a VR world, a world were death was in no way permanent.
Surprisingly his speed abilities affected his ageing and in two
years he grew to the physical age of 12. Without the ability to
turn off his power, Bart was literally racing towards his own
death. Fortunately his grandmother saved him from his human
tormentors and brought him back to our time to protect him from
the government of the future and to receive help from the current
Flash Wally West. While Wally was able to cure his racing
Metabolism, the clashing of personalities was too great for
the young boy to remain under his tutelage. So elder Zen master
of speed Max Mercury was given the task of training the boy.
It's been a difficult road but some of Max's lessons seem to
be finally sinking in. However Bart also appropriately called
'Impulse' still has a long way to go.

"Bart!" the young boy and sometime superhero looked
up from his bag of potato chips "Yeah?" The elder speedster
gave the boy a slightly annoyed look "What did I tell you to
do?" The young boy gave him a confused look "You mean cleaning
the living room? I did that already!" Indeed the room had been put
back in order, a far cry from the disaster area it was
literally seconds ago. Max Crandall aka Max Mercury sighed
"Yes but I meant at NORMAL speed." The young boy looked a tad
sheepish "Oh." Max shook his head "Bart remember what I told
you..." Bart waved him off as he'd heard this line a thousand times
before. "Right, right. Normal speedsters run the world. I..." The
door chimed, Max looked towards the door and gave off a slightly
annoyed snort before turning back to Bart "We'll continue this
later. Get to school." In a flash Bart was presentable, ready and
opening the door. With a final good buy Bart left with his friends
for school. Max sighed and sat down on the floor.

Slowing his breathing and stretching into a meditative
position Max Began to concentrate. Slowly his mind began to
wander the speed force, the source of power for all speedsters.
At first there was nothing unusual, then he felt it. Something
made a connection to the force. He had seen this before; this
new power would contact the force for a brief moment then fade
away. This time however the connection stayed. Max monitored
the power as it moved to its destination, and then stopped.
Then a while later it headed back towards its origin. Once it
reached its source point the connection faded. But Max had
enough to know where to begin a search. Any person who had
contact with the speed force would have residual energy
still on them that he could sense. All he had to do was
get close enough and he could track them down. Action
decided Max Mercury donned his working cloths and raced out of
the house towards Japan.

Meanwhile somewhere in the wilds of Japan, Ryoga Hibiki
was deep in concentration. His travels had recently led him to
the city of Metropolis. As advanced as the city was what had
truly captured his interest were the actions of one of the
younger super heroes, Superboy. The leather jacket clad teen
had stopped a group of bank robbers who must have been pretty
bold or stupid to try something like that in Superman's town.
However it was the Aura around super boy that'd caught Ryoga's
attention. It seemed to be the source of the his power.
Because of its similarity to chi Ryoga had figured that he
might be able to master it or something similar. Course decided
Ryoga had set out to find a nice secluded place to begin training
and thus ended up here. As he continued to concentrate, the
seconds stretched into minutes, and sweat began to glisten on his
brow. Finally when he opened his eyes he saw that he was floating
several feet off the ground. Releasing his breath out slowly he
gently lowered him self to the forest floor. Once there he cracked
a smile. If he was right his strength, endurance and speed would
be multiplied many times as would his ability to fire off Ki blast.
He might even be capable of short-term flight. The only downside
was the massive drain this put on him and the fact that he put out
enough chi to turn the Hiryu Shoten ha into a F3 Tornado. But to
manage that Ranma would need to be as fast as the Flash. Ryoga
chuckled at that thought. 'There was no way Ranma could get that
fast!' he thought. The smile on his face grew hopeful. Maybe,
just maybe he would finally defeat Ranma and, and... He stopped,
a confused look on his face. After he beat Ranma what would he
do? Find a new rival?... Nah Ranma would probably train and face
him again, and knowing him he'd find a way to give him one heck
of a fight the second time around. Oddly, that brought a smile
to his face. Nothing like the thought of a constant challenge
to lift ones spirits! With renewed energy Ryoga set about
mastering his new technique.

Upstairs in the Cat Cafe, Mu Tzu sat quietly in a lotus
position. His eyes were closed and he appeared to be in deep
concentration. Every so often a look of pain would cross his
face, then disappear as soon as it'd come. Then they began to
increase in frequency and duration. After several minutes he
was gritting his teeth as if red-hot pokers were being shoved
into his spine. Finally his eyes sprang open and he collapsed
face forward on the floor. It took several long minutes of very
deep breathing before his body stopped quivering. When he had
finally regained control of himself, he slowly lifted rose
to his feet. Picking his glasses up off of the table he smiled.
'I think I've reached the limit.' he thought. Looking at the
glasses in his hands as he turned them over his smile grew
'Soon, I will have no need for these and I will finally be
respected amongst the amazons.' the smile slowly left his face.
'Till then I must keep up appearances.' sighing he put on the
glasses and left for another day at work.

Elsewhere three different girls prepared for the day.
Reiko Sawamura pulled on her uniform. Then she began combing
through her long blue hair. She was fairly tall with an athletic
build born of her training on the swim team. As she finished with
her hair and grabbed her bags she briefly wondered where that nice
Hibiki boy she'd literally run into last week had gone off to.
He'd apologized for the incident even though it was clearly her
fault. She smiled at the memory, having a cute boy being worried
about her had felt fairly nice. As she left her home she hoped she
would meet him again. Elsewhere, Mio Shimozio was currently putting
her tennis racket into her bag. Her blue hair was braided into a ponytail
that reached down to mid back. She had a petit body that was in no way
hard on the eyes. As she looked at the racket a warm smile spread across
her face. A few weeks back she'd played a match against a robed boy
wearing glasses. He'd been surprisingly good at Tennis especially since
he claimed to have never played the game before. In the end they tied,
but she made him agree to a rematch. After all was she had to know if
it was luck or skill that had allowed him to play so well? With this
thought she left home. Kiyomi Shinfuji was currently writing in her
daily planner. She was a fairly pretty girl with short dirty blond hair
held in place by a green hair band that matched her green school uniform.
The cuteness of her face was in no way detracted by the glasses she wore.
As she finished writing, she looked over her schedule once again. It was
fairly ordinary day for her except for the very last thing on the list.
She blushed and wondered if she could do it. She looked once again at
her schedule, "5:00 p.m. Ask Ranma out for Ice Cream."

Author Notes: A few people asked for info on some of the DC people who
will be used in the fic. I aslo figured you'd want to see some of what
Ryoga and Mu Tzu are up too. I will explain the new girls motivations
later on. As for the specifics on Ryoga's and Mu Tzu new abilities wait
until chapter 2. Points if you can figure out what game these girls are
from. Now, I'm new to writing romance, and since I have very little
experience with the real thing I could use a little help. Any suggestions
for writing romance would be greatly appreciated. As would C&C on this fic.
