The Book of Angels
        Prologue

The Sandraline palace is most widely known for its
massive library. Their long, dustless hallways are filled
with books that would make a scholar weep with joy. In this
ancient royal library of Sandraline, a book about the country's
history could be found. As you open the book, the worn and
faded yellowed leaves fall open exactly to the most intriguing
era, the Era of Darkness. From here, this story begins to
unfold.

Five angels hovered over the land: two black, two white,
and a silver winged angel. They were the legendary protectors
of Sandraline; the deities of Beasts, Life, Death, Destruction,
and Justice.

The Angel of Beasts controlled all the animals, and

killed off the soldiers of Nuklaren, the enemies of Sandraline.

He maintained his control over the animals with his life force
since most of his magic was used up. The other four Angels
headed towards the north. The Angel of Life spared him one
last glance before he left, following the other Angels. Beast
felt a strong energy fill him, life energy. It sustained him,
kept him from dying--as long as Life still lived.

The other four celestial beings were about to face
their true enemy. They headed towards the capital of Nuklaren,
Dajah. As they approached, they found a swarm of unearthly
entities surrounding an obscure shadow. He was the darkness
that covered this world, the center of evil. He was none
other but the Angel of Darkness.

Thunder could be heard in a distance. The wind howled
in anger as the Angel of Death prepared himself to face their
toughest challenge, a fight to the finish. Destruction left
chaos in his wake. The rivers flooded; volcanoes erupted,
burying towns and people under ash and lava; earthquakes
tore the land into pieces. Justice burned with malice in his
eyes. All living and dead, burst into flames as he passed,
sending them all to hell after a quick judgment. Life hung
behind his comrades, eyes filled with pain as he watched one
being after another lose its life, condemned and the
innocent.

They flew towards their objective, the last battle,
hoping to prevail, to rid this world of the darkness. The
Angel of Darkness was waiting for their arrival, for the final
battle. A dense fog surrounded him and his minions as the
Sandraline defenders made their way towards him. Black energy
gathered at his fingertips as he waited for the fight to begin.
Darkness watched as the Sandraline protectors charged at him
with fury burning in their eyes. When his targets were in range,
he fired.

Life went down as the blast of energy went through his
heart. Death, Destruction, and Justice could feel their
friend’s power slowly pouring out of him, taking Beast with him.
Nothing was left of the two but dust that danced away with the
wind. The remaining three fought with anger, to avenge for
their friends.

Death summoned the ghosts and zombies. Hailstones
fell from the sky. Thunder boomed, covering the screams of
fury. Lightning laced through the black sky. Destruction
created greater earthquakes. Mountains exploded and rivers
overflowed with muddy water. A tornado headed towards Darkness.
Justice summoned fires deep from the earth, burning all those
that lived.

"Do you three think that you could possibly defeat
me?" Darkness snarled at them. "Without the other two, your
powers have greatly diminished. Nothing could stop me and
Nuklaren from take over the world now." He let out an evil
laugh that was lost in the sounds of thunder. He flung black
fire, laced with energy, at the last three Angels.

The Sandraline holy protectors screamed in pain. The
last of their energy was drained out of them, as was their
lives. They used the last of their energies to retaliate.
"We're not going alone," Death gave Darkness a psychotic grin
that sent chills down the dark shadow’s spine. "You're coming
with us."

With that, lightning, fire, and the tornado hit him at
once. The force of the three attacks sent him reeling into
darkness. As the tornado carried him off, the three holy forms
breathed their last. All that remained were the dust and
feathers that were once their bodies. The world plunged into
darkness as the saviors died, all for naught as the evil that
threatened mankind still lived.

At the base of Mount Janal, Darkness got to his feet.
He wavered at the first few steps. "Damn you. They have not
heard the last from Angel of Darkness, yet. I'll be back.
Now that the Angels are out of the way, I'll have the world.
After I'm completely healed, I'll get my revenge." With that
he hobbled off into a cave of the mountain. He sealed the
entrance, and was not heard from for a hundred years.

        Chapter 1

A hundred years ago, the final battle of the Angels
took place in Nuklaren. There the holy protectors of
Sandraline died in that last battle. Life had ceased before
the Angel of Life could bring light to their land. From then
on the world was plunged into darkness.

People were living in poverty and hunger as the crops
failed to grow under the horrid conditions. The earth was
in pieces. The forests were destroyed by fire and volcanic
eruptions. The world was in chaos while Nuklaren thrived in
this darkness. They would attack Sandraline frequently
because of its weakened state. The world knew that the Angel
of Darkness was about to be awakened.

< 99A.D.A. (After the Death of Angels)>
A dark hair young man walked along the battlements of
the palace. The other soldiers tended to stay away from him
because of two reasons. The first reason was because he was
known to be rude to everyone, even to the Queen. His dead,
cobalt eyes sent shivers down their backs. He was empty of
any human emotions. To them, he's the Perfect Soldier, Heero
Yuy.

The second reason was that he was the apprentice of the mage
Master Don Terrafield. Terrafield was famous at the
palace, as were the other master mages in the area. He
could create and control the world's natural disasters.
Heero had showed signs of natural destruction capabilities
when he first met the mage. He had totally no control over
them, until Terrafield came along and taught him. Every
non-mage feared both Master Terrafield and his student
because of their power.

Heero stopped at the wall and looked out to the city
of Merriam. As he guarded, he thought back to how he came to
be in the palace as a soldier and a mage-in-training.

Ten years ago...

A five-year-old child threw a tantrum. He was a cute
little boy with dark hair and sharp cobalt blue eyes. But to
his family, he wasn't all that cute. As his anger flared, the
earth beneath them began to quiver. The rest of his family
cowered in the corner in fear. His four-year-old sister
watched her older brother from between her parents, who were
trying to hide her.

"I want candy," he screamed. His parents obeyed
immediately before the nearest volcano erupted. As always,
Heero Yuy got what he wanted. His parents lived in constant
fear ever since Heero showed his powers at age three. They
did not know what to do with the child and were scared out of
their wits.

Their problems were solved when a mysterious man
showed up at their doorstep.

        "Hello. Yuy-san, I presume? I felt a disturbance of
the earth and many of the townsman told me that your son is
responsible for this." The Yuy family looked at the tall and
lanky man at their door. He was in his mid-forties with black
shoulder length hair with a few fine gray hairs. His eyes were
a friendly green-grayish. His did not look like a bad man,
but one must never judge another by looks alone.

"Who are you," asked the father, "and what do you want
with him?"

"Please forgive me. My name is Don Terrafield and I'm
a mage." He looked behind the parents and found Heero staring
at him. "Hello. You must be the one who caused the earthquake,
aren't you?" Heero nodded to confirm the suspicion. Master
Terrafield turned back to the parents. "Did you know that
your son is capable of magic? I would be happy to train him,
to teach him control over his powers."

The parents were more that happy to hand their son to
the mage.

The very next morning Master Terrafield and Heero
headed towards the capital of Sandraline, Merriam.

Heero was jolted out of his thoughts as he felt another
presence beside him. When he recognized the man, he bowed
slightly in respect. "My Lord Magistrate."

The Lord Magistrate was a distant uncle to the Queen.
He was tall and slightly round in the middle. His silver hair
showed age and wisdom with dark eyes that glittered with
laughter even when his features were stern. "Keep up the good
work, Heero. Any day now, I'll have the King of Thieves in my
dungeon."

Inwardly, Heero smiled. Everyone knew of the Lord’s
obsession to catch the King of Thieves ever since he made his
presence known three years ago. He quickly created an empire
of thieves in all of Sandraline in less than three years. The
thieves under his guidance created a network of crime.

"Master Terrafield." Heero turned when he heard one
of the soldiers address his friend and teacher. He saw the
mage walk towards him as he bowed in respect for his mentor.
Terrafield looked not much older than when they had first meet
ten years ago.

"Good day, my lord," Terrafield bowed slightly. "Ah,
Heero. I was looking for you," he said to his student. "I had
just received a message from the rest of my colleagues. They
will be coming back to the palace with their students. I
want you to inform the Queen that new mages would be arriving
soon to the palace."

Heero ran off to carry out his teacher's orders.
Secretly, he wondered how powerful the new mages and their
students were going to be.
