sure her clan might be rich and more powerfull and his clan may have a debt to her clan yet this wouldnt give her the sort of power many fanfic writers have given her.

Again, you're making the assumption that it's his family name, which is NOT
verified in the anime OR manga. and even if it is japanese custom there
are exceptions look at Tenchi.
