the whole point of that story is how everyone deals with the
discovery of the mixup. Here it seems like something slapped
together as an excuse to let you get to the story you really
want to tell.
IMO, there's one way that this story *would* make sense, and that's if
someone is playing mind games with Ranma, making him think that his
friends are telling him all these things when they really aren't.
Perhaps this is an alternate universe version of Belldandy who wants to
ruin Ranma's life for fun, or because she needs him to accomplish some
goal, and his friends and family will have to work together to rescue
him from her.
No, I don't for a moment believe that this was the author's intent, and
I kinda doubt that he'll change it... but it *does* seem like it'd make
for a more interesting story than this one, and I can dream, can't I....
